"Richie! Thank god you're home. It's pouring out there, where's Robert?"
"Ma, Ro... Robert's dead."
She didn't move a muscle, looked at me with those questioning eyes of hers and eventually fainted
The next few days was chaos in all of Britain, no one knew what was happening to their loved ones, the infected developed ungodly symptoms, intense vomiting, spurting blood and their own guts out, burning fever, becoming delirious and their skin turning coal black.
The church called this judgement day, "The sinners shall go to hell, only the pure remain, this is the reckoning, God is here" they said.
The streets were lined with dead bodies, we had to get out of Great Britain.
"I.. I don't feel well Richard. Robert hold my hand"
"It's ok Ma I'm here, I'll take care of us"
Mother ...had it, her hands were black.
I wasn't sad, I was bloody raged. How did our lives turn into hell, what god awful demon had brought this upon us?
"Ring around the Rosie
Pocket full of Posey
Ashes, Ashes
We all fall down"
She passed away that day, I'll never forget the last thing she said to me, "I see him Richard, and he's beautiful."
We buried Ma and Robert, but we couldn't stay here for long.
I took my brothers and sisters and head for London, we had to get out of here. I knew my friend Siegfried could get us out of here.
We set forth upon our journey at dawn, the kids were muted by the horror they had seen past few weeks. Even I couldn't think. It was a sombre time, the horses had to get their horseshoes changed from time to time, it kept getting filled up with rot from the bodies on the street, children sat with their dead parents, crying. The horrifying sight of a cat feasting on the rotten flesh of another body almost made me vomit.
The journey was long, tiring but we made it anyway. We thought the situation in London would be better, but it was naught.
There were riots, people stealing and rampaging about the city. Protests against the nobility who sat in their comfortable estates while the poor were dying all around the empire.
I had to find Siegfried, fast.
