Farewell

She sat down with the employees knowing that they would protest at first. But after reasoning with them that she didn't have much time left and that she wanted to spend the rest of the last moments without any regret, they all gave their blessings. Wen Cheng rushed into the store immediately jumping on the verandas to reach the top floor where Fangsu was hugging the last of the employees, "You're finally back!" He rushed over to Fangsu, hugging her. Fangsu returned the hug knowing that this might be the last time they see each other. He looked around to see many of the employees crying, especially Da Fu, "What's going on around here?" He was confused why everyone was crying yet Fangsu remained smiling.

Fangsu waved off the employees to prepare the store for the day. Fangsu pulled out a seat for Wen Cheng, patting the seat. Gesturing toward him to sit on the seat, which he did, "Wen Cheng, I'm going to die within a year's time." Bluntly telling him of her circumstances which stunned Wen Cheng to an incredible extent that he could only gape at Fangsu like a fish, "So, I have decided to travel and leaving Blossoming Fragrance in Da Fu's capable hands," Fangsu continued to talk even though Wen Cheng had a hard time processing that fact that Fangsu was outright leaving the capital.

Wen Cheng clenched his trusty fan, "Your illness has progressed that far?" He began chuckling at Fangsu's straightforwardness. It was quite amazing to see that she had grown as a person from a shy person who was barely able to talk and now she was unfazed by many people, fighting back if it was required, "Go see the world for what it is. I will take care of everything here," But, it still was quite unnerving how Fangsu was slowly degrading even now at this present moment.

Fangsu smiled at Wen Cheng, "Thank you for understanding," Bowing at a ninety-degree angle, "Please look after everyone at Blossoming Fragrance," Fangsu requested Wen Cheng to care for Blossoming Fragrance in her stead while she travelled. Wen Cheng was quite stunned for words when Fangsu bowed, especially since a bow was a sign of respect for people. He quickly straightened Fangsu upright as she was the sickly one and was in need to recover. Wen Cheng, Fangsu and Da Fu all discussed the conditions for the ownership situation. Eventually, Da Fu was made the co-owner with the Chen Family for Blossoming Fragrance.

As Fangsu was able to leave the establishment, "Wen Cheng, I think of you like an older brother," She turned to Wen Cheng who smiled at the thought of being the older brother of Fangsu, "Look after Xiao Ming for me," Fangsu worries about Xiao Ming despite being sick.

Wen Cheng nodded, "Don't worry, I will," Understanding that Xiao Ming would need guidance in the future, "I think Xiao Ming and You as my younger siblings," He was ready to take the responsibility of Xiao Ming as an older brother figure.

For the day, Fangsu's objective for today was to purchase some travelling essentials to various biomes. On the other hand, Xiao Ming was quite upset knowing that Fangs was going to leave him. His small hands clung onto Fangsu's dress as his lips trembled as he was frightened to speak about Fangsu taking him with her. But, he steeled himself up, "Big Sister! Can you take me with you?" Xiao Ming was hoping that she would take him but Fangsu shook her head.

Crouching to Xiao Ming's level. Fangsu stared at Xiao Ming whilst gently holding his small hands in her own, "Xiao Ming, I'm not abandoning you. It's just that I don't have the ability to protect you," Fangsu realised that Xiao Ming's hands will outgrow her own hands which were already so small in comparison to other people, "If I were to die than you would have to fend for yourself," Fangsu caressed her little brother's face pushing a strand of hair behind his ear.

Xiao Ming began tearing up, "I'm okay with that!" Hot tears cascaded down his cheek and snot began dripping out of his nose, "I can fend for myself! I'm used to it!" A gentle sleeve rubbed his face, wiping away the tears and snots.

Fangsu gently wiped his face despite the tears that continued to fall, "I don't want that for you," Embracing Xia Ming trembling body, gently rubbing his back, "I want you to live a happy and healthy life, fall in love with someone, get married, have kids and grow old with your partner," Fangsu wanted Xiao Ming to lead a happy life instead of being a used as a slave. Gently smiling at Xiao Ming who understood that Fangsu didn't buy him to be a slave but she bought his freedom so that he could live a proper life. The both of them walked through the streets eating street food and laughing with each other. Fangsu wanted to create more memories so that she could cherish them before she would have to die.

As the two were fully stuffed with food and finished purchasing all the travelling essentials, the two of them returned back home to where Fangsu's grandpa was sitting alone on a chair staring at the night sky. Ushering Xiao Ming into his room, she tucked him into bed. Giving him a goodnight kiss before leaving him to sleep for the night.

Returning back to the room where her grandpa was sitting. She seated herself next to him to stare at the night sky and the bright moon that gently beamed on them. Fangsu understood that her grandpa was in despair knowing that Fangsu's death was inevitable, "Grandpa," The words couldn't leave her mouth.

Her grandpa turned to her with tears in his eyes immediately dropping to his knees, kowtowing at Fangsu's feet. Obviously, Fangsu was shocked to see her grandpa kowtowing and as she tried to pull her grandpa up to no avail, "I'm sorry… I always stopped you from doing anything because you were always ill," He began apologising as his usual towering form that protected Fangsu was crouched to the floor.

Fangsu hugged her grandpa's crouched form, "You only wanted the best for me," Grabbing her grandpa's hand with her own hands which were small in comparison, "I do not blame you for that," Fangsu understood from a young age that she didn't have a healthy body to keep up with her other siblings and she was always kept inside to recuperate. She could never blame anyone for her weak constitution. It was just bad luck being born with what she had. Honestly, Fangsu was glad that she was the one that was riddled with all the illnesses instead of her younger sister. So that her young sister could enjoy life.

—————

The next day, she went to Gui Ying who obviously gave her blessing and agreed to care for Xiao Ming if anything happened to both Fangsu and her grandpa. As Fangsu walked passed a small store selling Donkey Rolls, entering the small establishment. It was

Walking in the direction of the Rong Manor Fangsu paused, hearing the sound of wild birds. Staring at the clear blue sky, the wild birds were flying so freely in the sky and it wouldn't be long before she would do the same. As she gained entry into the Rong manor both Lady and Rong and Jingyi greeted her with warm smiles. As she explained to both of them that she would be leaving the capital to travel. Jingyi began crying as she hugged Fangsu, "Why are you leaving all of a sudden?" Fangsu unwrapped Jingyi's hands that were holding her arm.

Fangsu vaguely answered as she wasn't bothered to tell the reason, "Because I want to," Turning to Lady Rong who nodded understanding Fangsu's situation unlike Jingyi who was unaware of her illness, "Jingyi can I have a private chat with your mother?" Politely requesting for some privacy with Lady Rong who was quite surprised as she was not one to hide secrets.

Jingyi was unassuming of Fangsu's intention as she knew Fangsu's mother was friends with her own mother, "That's fine!" Jingyi nodded as she wore a veil, "I have an appointment today," Jingyi had left the Rong Manor, leaving behind Fangsu and Lady Rong by themselves.

As Fangsu's eyes followed Jingyi until she heard that Jingyi had left, "Lady Rong, do you know that your daughter is involved in a group that aims to help the Crown Prince gain the throne?" Fangsu turned her attention back to Lady Rong who was obviously shocked to hear that her daughter was involved in such a dangerous group, "I hope that Lady Rong will keep this in mind because I predict something bad is going to happen in the future." Fangsu continued despite Lady Rong's disbelief at her own daughter's actions. As Fangsu finished her statement, handing her a box of Donkey Rolls.

Fangsu walked off to continue to make her final farewells to the Empress Dowager, Lady Meng, Li Mo and Biyu. But on the way to the Imperial Palace, Fangsu has bumped into Gang Hai who immediately froze up at the sight of Fangsu. Fangsu nodded her head to acknowledge his presence. But a sudden sound of bells rings above her, "Fangsu! I got the blood of the Blood Red Toad!" Yun Nan waved at Fangsu from her flying carriage holding a porcelain bottle that contained the blood. Both due to her carelessness, her foot slipped from underneath her causing her to fall a frightening height.

But, before Fangsu could attempt to save Yun Nan. Gang Hai, who was petrified in his spot immediately lunged at the falling Yun Nan who was protecting the component of the life-saving medicine for Fangsu, "You okay?" He gently landed on the ground as he began checking for any injuries.

Yun Nan nodded as she jumped out of Gang Hai's arms running to Fangsu holding the bottle of blood in her arms, "Fangsu! We can start taking medicine," Jumping with glee holding the bottle with a huge smile, "We just need the Dragon Leaf and Life Within Death Fruit to cure you!" Yun Nan's voice expands throughout the street holding Fangsu immediately shut Yun Nan's mouth with her hand. The information about Fangsu needing a cure needed to be a secret.

Fangsu immediately whipped her head around to face Gang Hai who instantly flinched, "Yun Nan please do your thing," Sighing with exhaustedly as she took the porcelain bottle from Yun Nan's hand, "I will go try to find the other ingredients," Fangsu continued to walk in the direction of the Imperial Palace leaving behind the two.

Smiling at the stiff Gang Hai who was instantly gulped, "Whatever you heard," Yun Nan walked towards Gang Hai who took a step back, "I hope you will forget about this because I don't want to be having to digging a grave for your dead body," Their body were so close that they could feel each other's breath and scent which caused the nervous Gang Hai to gulped again. The scent that was emitted from Yun Nan's body was a light herbal scent that was quite pleasant and it would be a scent that was something Gang Hai liked. He had gotten used to the pungent artificial smell of cosmetics that many women wore on a day to day basis. However, the woman Yun Nan had a completely bare face that was pale and smooth. But, currently, she was emitting a dangerous aura. He nodded, using Qigong to jump on the terracotta roof tile. He escaped from her.

Fangsu continued to walk to the Imperial Palace, climbing the polished steps with no difficulty. The guards who recognised Fangsu immediately allowed the girl entry. The corridors that once confused her were quite easy to navigate through as she entered the Imperial Palace many times. Once Fangsu entered the Empress Dowager's palace, two figures came running full spirit at Fangsu instantly knocking her down to the ground, "Fangsu Jie Jie!" The royal twins both giggled as they laid on Fangsu. Lady Meng and the Dowager could only laugh at the trio who were on the ground but they eventually got off the ground. The twins held Fangsu's hands dragging her to sit at the dining table, "Fangsu Jie Jie, why didn't you tell us that you had a brother?" Li Mo asked whilst tilting his head. Biyu nodded along with her brother.

Fangsu was shocked to hear that the twins had met her brother, "Where did you meet Xiao Ming?" After they explained that they had met Xiao Ming who was praying for good health for Fangsu, "He is such a caring little brother," Fangsu could only have warm feelings about Xiao Ming's concern over her health.

The Lady Meng who listening absentmindedly, "Come to think about it," Placing her cup down and staring at Fangsu, "Where were you for the past four months?" All eyes were placed on Fangsu whose expression turned melancholic at the reminder of her four-month coma.

Fangsu smiled at Lady Meng and the Dowager, "My health has been deteriorating at a much faster rate," Smiling at the twins as she gently held their small hands, "I only have a year left to live," This was quite shocking to everyone in the room as they never knew the extent of her illness let alone what her illness was.

Everyone was shocked. Lady Meng placed a hand over her mouth as she was shocked to hear about this, "Fangsu Jie Jie…" Biyu firmly held Fangsu's hand but she kept quiet. Fangsu embraced the twins who then began crying on her shoulder clinging onto Fangsu who comforted the two.

After the twins had finished crying their eyes and nose were red, "It's alright, I still have a year left," Fangsu patted the two young children on the head, "But, I want to travel for three to six months before I come back," A flutter of wind brushed past her as the Dowager's hawk landed near Fangsu nuzzling against her hand. Fangsu pet the hawk's feathers feeling the muscles of its powerful wings.

The Dowager nodded as she smiled at the young girl understanding that Fangsu would want to see that the world had to offer without any regrets. Lady Meng felt troubled knowing that Fangsu who was a lovable person yet she only had a short time in this world. Li Mo and Biyu consider Fangsu as a big sister since she treated them like so and care for them unlike the rest of their immediate family.
