96 took advantage of the cut that he already had to fill up the needle half way, he made sure to empty the air out just as 'George' had, he then shook the needle to mix the blood and liquid.
96 then turned his attention to the basket in the middle of the room, he took out the blanket and used the needle to make several strips of cloth and poked holes in the blanket. The voice had instructed him on how to build the trap, he made a slip knot then cut off a bit of his finger placing it in the trap and then placing it in front of the whole in the wall were he knew the rodent would enter. He did not take into account the change of sent but it did not matter as the rodent seemed to have the single minded goal to get to the other side of the room, as soon as it entered the bag, 96 pulled the opening closed.
The rodent desperately tried to fight it's way out of the trap, but to no avail, 96 swiftly injected the rodent which made it lose consciousness. he opened the trap and dumped out the rodent, the bundle it had in its mouth fell reveling a clump of bread. 96's attention emidiatly shifted from the rodent to the food, he bent over and closely examined it. It looked surprisingly clean for something that had been carried by a rodent but he barely noticed that, he was just so shocked to have found some food, unfortunately he was so cought up in this discovery that he failed to notice the rodent waking up, before he knew what happened the rodent took a chunk out of his neck grabbed the bread and ran off across the floor, however in its frenzy it ran under the cursed flagstone and was instantly crushed.
He knew that he had lost to much blood already and that it was only a matter of time until he faded completely, so he picked up the needle and stabbed it into his own heart instantly killing himself.
"well that was stupid, you were so close and you let that odd creature get the best of you" 96 growled at the statement he knew in his heart what had gone wrong and he didn't need the voice to tell him that. "but don't you find it rather strange? The creature acted as though it was being controlled by something" now that he mentioned it 96 had found the rodents one mindedness to be rather odd, but he just assumed that it was how most animals were since he didn't really have to much experience with them. The voice sighed, and for some reason 96 had the distinct impression that the voice was shaking its head in disgust.
Given the plans initial failure 96 decided to change things around alittle, it took several attempts to succeed but he finally managed to find a good balance between blood and liquid. Once he had the proper measurements he began improving his trap taking advantage of the rodents blind determination, threw trial and error he learned that the rodent was only capable of moving in one direction, forward, so all he had to do was place a noose in front of the hole in just the right spot so that the rodents head would be imoblised, the rat would run forward in place never reaching its goal, and as long as 96 left the bread alone he could test out the different mixtures to his hearts content.
He closely observed the fighting rodent as its drive slowly drained from it, 96 took this as a sign that the injection had started to take affect.
As he watched, 96 was surprised to see that the rodent's physical appearance began to change, its fur turned from faded brown to coal black with little blue lines stretching across its body, it also grew a small blue horn in the middle of its forehead. Soon after these changes occurred the rodent dropped the bread and sat back on its haunches staring at 96 with a look of distaste. "you know, just because you don't really appreciate my presence here doesn't mean you should put me into the body of a rat to get back at me" 96 smiled slightly, phase one of his plan was finally completed, and the results were better than he had imagined. He grabbed what was left of his blanket and crawled back into his basket, and clutching the chunk of bread he drifted off to sleep.
