It was a new experience for 96 to be able to move so freely threw the long section of rooms, thankfully it was the evening so most of the children that were still alive were sleeping. He searched each room from top to bottom, he noticed that the most all of the children that were still alive had gone threw extreme mutations some had grown other limbs and other body parts not all human, bat wings, hooves, ect. in one case one of the children had gained the body of a horse. The sight of them did not bother him in the slightest, which should have surprised him but he was at this moment a snake so he did not have much room to judge. One room had a child that was writhing in pain, it looked up at 96, a third eye was forming on its head. "Please kill me" from 96's veiw the child should not have been able to speak so well at its apparent age. 96 slithered forward and rubbed its forehead to comfort the child, the pain would fade he knew that all to well, the child grabbed 96 and hugged him as tightly as it could until the pain was gone, which took a rather long while. Once the pain had subsided the child's skin had turned a pale gray color and on its forehead was a rather large fully opened eye, the iris was a slit that resembled that of a snake but it was a pale purple color, the child's hair had also gone white. The child let go of the snake and sank back into its basket exhausted, 96 gently pulled the blanket over the child and went back to his search.
After a couple more rooms he came across the one were the rodents had attacked the voice, they all came crowding around him and tried to attack him, unfortunately for them he had expected this and quickly got to work swallowing them one by one until only a few rodents were huddled around the basket in order to defend it, 96 happy to have taken some revenge went on with his search for the voice.
He found the voice in an empty room curled up nex to a fire, he slithered forward and laid his head right next to the voice waking it instantly, it was flustered for a second but it the recognized the familiar smell. "Well you look different, what happened?" 96 thought of the snake and what had happened, the voice stood up and started pacing the room, 96 had stayed staring at the fire, without warning he darted into the fire and swallowed the stones, which made the fire instantly die out. That consuming hunger had started to rise up again, he had tried to repress it but it had taken over again, the voice didn't seem to be bothered by that, but it was bothered by something. "we should be heading back soon the night will be over soon" 96 looked at him still wondering why the voice had left in the first place. "I just needed to be alone for alittle bit, that's all" 96 had the feeling that the voice was hiding something but he decided not to question it for now, he was tired and wanted to get back to sleep.
On the way back he felt his eyes gradually start to close, when they reached the room he slithered over to his blanket and coiled up he tried to think of his human form and his shape gradually changed back into a child, the voice seemed rather shocked by the change, 96 smiled and yawned falling into sleep. His sleep was filled with dreams, he was standing on a plain of vast nothingness. Under his feet a white and black line shot out from either side of him, the black line curled into smoke and rose up forming a shadowy figure that looked to be wareing some rather strange clothes that he had never seen before, the figure snapped its shadowy fingers and a throne appeared, he promptly sat down as though waiting, the figure was large and imposing. 96 looked over to his right and saw that the light had taken the shape of an equally opposing figure, who was also wearing odd clothes. The figure on the right snapped its fingers as well, and a throne of white appeared, and it also sat down on its throne. Both of them just sat there in silence waiting, 96 looked from one to the other not knowing what would come next, then quite suddenly there was a loud noise that shook the nothingness, waking 96 with a start from his sleep, but not before he got one last look at the shadowy figure, it was staring at him with a cold interest. 96 shivered at the thought of that shadowy figure, though nothing had actually happened he felt like it was a bad thing that he had been seen by that thing.
