Chapter 14

The silence of the space was rather peaceful to 96 and he wondered if he really needed to leave, but he knew that wanting to stay in this place indefinetly was unrealistic they needed to get back a quickly as they could. After he had bandaged his wrist 96 he realised that he wasn't hungry, but the voice had said that he had been like that for two days, so that didn't make any sense but that wasn't what he needed to be focusing on, he needed to be finding a way out of this incredibly calming location. The idea which came to him quite suddenly was to try to do what he had been doing when it had come to other objects, try to draw them out. He sat down and in his head formed the image of exiting the space, he closed his eyes and kept focusing until he felt a tap on his leg, "You can look now, were out" instantly he was regretting leaving that place, compared to there this room felt rather cold, and the he realized that was becouse he had eaten all of the fire stones.

He heard the sound of the door next to his open and someone gasping, he marveled as he found himself often doing at the utter sloppiness of the staff, they were conducting an experiment and they were all acting like chickens that had their heads off "you know its becouse they dont want to be here in the first place" the voice had just come back from scouting out the situation "I mean what else could excuse the fact that they haven't checked in on anyone in the past two days, and of course the fact that they can't communicate" the voice had a very low opinion of the researchers and 96 found that he rather shared the veiw "so what exactly is going on over there?" he already had an idea but he liked to listen to the voice's way of putting things "well after the initial reaction they went to talk to the inspector from two days ago, so they should get things sorted out within the next day" 96 hoped so since he was getting rather hungry.

It unsurprisingly took them awhile to figure out what had happened, and when they finally decided to look in the room were 96 was he had already fallen asleep, after returning him to his room the voice hitched a ride on one of the workers, he had already explored the rooms now he needed to figure out what was up with the outside.

96 and the voice had planned for it to go out and scope out the area but he really didn't like being away from the voice. He desided to change into snake form and travel so that he could take his mind off the voice. 96 we into each of the rooms and began taking the magic stones out of their various locations until he came upon so.thing that made him smile, which was quite the disturbing thing for a snake to do. He had come across one of the fires that had a small creature hiding among the stones, a fire salamander the little thing was trying to hide but he swallowed along with the stones and then returned to his room satisfied. For the rest of day he desided to focus on manipulating his features, the first thing he did was try to shrink his teeth but to no avail, he was getting used to the idea of talking but his teeth were still rather annoying, after trying a few more things he heard the door start to open and quickly reverted back to his usual form. A reasurcher came into the room with a basket in their hand they let out a sigh of annoyance at the fact that 96 was not in his basket, but did they really expect that a child would stay in a basket for so long without trying to explore? The researcher set down the basket in their left hand and picked up 96 "why would they have number 66 in the 96 location" 96 assumed that the reasurcher was referring to the misprint on his forehead, he smiled up at the researcher with his teeth bared, the reasurcher seemed unnerved by the display and 96 couldn't help but laugh to himself, he loved the look of confusion that had crossed the researchers face, he then noticed the voice on their shoulder and his smile broadened, it was good to see that the voice was doing well. The researcher placed him in his basket which he had patched up after the last incident, when the researcher turned to pick up the other basket the voice hopped into 96s basket and quickly crawled into his hand disappearing just as the researcher turned back. Out of curiosity 96 looked over to see what the other child looked like and was quite surprised to see that it was the three eyed child, it really didn't make all that much sense since the two of them were really far apart when it came to both there rooms and rankings, he knew he would just have to wait but he really didn't like being in suspense.

They were again taken to the common area were the rest of the researchers each had two baskets again, 96 didn't know if they enjoyed being random or if they just had no semblance of stability in this place. 96 wasn't surprised to see that the man in glasses was standing up in front of the group again, he was surprised however by the odd device that was behind him it was like a large circle had been carved into the stone, but the inside of the circle was glowing and swirling with an odd blue glow. He also noticed that the man with glasses looked rather haggard "We will be moving to the center emidiatly given the situation above, rest assured we will return when our mission is accomplished, we will retake what we have lost and drive the barbarians out!" everyone nodded in agreement and began going threw the blue light. He was again the last group to go threw the light, before he did he had a gut wrenching, he did not understand why it was he looked up at the reasurcher and he relished why it was that he had that feeling, the reasurcher had a dead expression like all the life had been drained out of them, something had happened in the last five minutes that had changed all of the researchers beings.
