Second Death

"Goddam little rabbits! It stings!" Fotas screamed out loud the moment he revived.

He revived in the left of the town, in front of Granny Lyn's Hut, which was logical since she was the healer in the village. In most games, players are either respawned inside their homes or at a hospital.

The sensations of the little pricks of the Icicle stabbing into him flashed a crossed his mind.

Dying wasn't that bad. It was like getting small static shocks on your body. But it also felt real, the coldness sharpness of the Icicle could still be felt throughout his body.

Little Abby soon arrived in front of Fotas. Looking at him up and down curiously, she finally spoke.

"So it's true wanderers don't die they appear out of thin air again. It's like magic!"

Feeling proud of her wisdom, Abby put her hands to her side and took a triumphant pose. It seemed as though her nose grew longer to match with her arrogance.

Laughing at her antics, Fotas reached out and patted her head.

"Thanks that cheered me up."

Putting a grin on her face, Abby quickly grabbed his hand and pulled him away from the Hut.

"Geese you didn't listen to me before you left! Level 1 monsters are usually baby monsters. This means that they have the skill called which allows them to call for help from their family. Also, rabbits often travel in packs around the town, but the group outside the town is the largest," Little Abby said.

"Ah, that makes sense. I should've gotten my skills before I left to test myself. Well, thanks for that helpful information anyways." Fotas replied as he was checking his notifications.

Looking at his status and notifications, he noticed that it was golden in color. After reading through the notification, he sighed in relief.

[Beginner's Protection: No Death Penalty (Experience Reduction, Money/ Item Loss, Decrease in Durability) until level 10]

'Thank god I didn't get punished for dying so early in the game. I would be even more behind if I were to die right now. My first order of business should be to get some skills from the Hunter's Building.'

Walking a few more steps, Fotas quickly stopped and remembered what he forgot to finish earlier.

'That's right I need to turn off these notifications. They kept distracting me throughout the fight.'

Checking through the system, Fotas set it so that during the battle only the necessary numbers are shown to him. So if he was to get hit for ten damage and his defense covers the ten damage all it would say is block. He also included enemy skills effect to them during battle notifications. He needs to know if the skill would do some special effect other than damage, like chilled, to be able to fight effectively. Lastly, he set it so that if he learned any skill or gained anything, in general, to be shown to him at the end of the battle when he checks his logs.

Getting that all out of the way, Fotas finally relaxed and smiled to himself. Suddenly he felt a tug on his sleeves, and he turned around to see little Abby pulling on his shirt.

"Are you ok? You just suddenly stopped and started to smile to yourself. Are you still hurt anywhere?"

Seeing the look of worry her face, he almost teared up due to her caring and mindful nature. Then as suddenly his smile appeared on his face, it vanished.

'Sasha oh little Sasha this little girl reminds me so much of you.' A mournful aura slowly drifted out of Fotas and hung around him like a cloud.

Seeing his sad face, little Abby pulled a small scruffy pouch from her hips and handed it to Fotas.

"I picked this up with my father around the outskirts of the town. You should take it. It should help you out on your journey. You should eat this when you get injured."

Fotas grabbed the bag and examined its contents. It was full of leaves. White as snow, ten small plants laid bundled together.

Seeing the little girls worry and care Fotas heart started to warm up. Giving her a warm smile, he rubbed her head.

"Thank you. This item will save me next time. Thank you for all the help that you have given me."

The little girl gave Fotas a big smile and then continued to pull him towards the Hunter's Building.

'An older brother, that reminds me of the past. Sadly I wasn't a good brother back then, and I have no right to be a brother now.' sighing to himself internally, he continued to walk along with Abby.

Placing the Snow Weed into his inventory, Fotas started to slowly check through the logs to see how much damage each rabbit did to kill him.

'It seems like they killed me in about six attacks. It seems like the debuff lowered my Endurance stats and allowed the rabbits to kill me faster. When the more of them joined in, I became history. There was no way I was going to escape because of the bleed and exhaust.'

As he was thinking about his encounter with the rabbits and how he died, the duo finally reached the Hunter's Building.

The Hunter's Building looked like any other structure next to it. The only thing that made it stand out was that it was bigger and nosier. Sounds of men and women rung out from within the building. Their shouts reverberated throughout the Building slowly getting louder as time past. Standing on the outside of the building was a middle-aged man looking inside.

He had dark green eyes and a scar across his left one. He had bulging muscles, which looked as solid as the earth. A scruffy beard hung over his chin, and a rustic look etched onto his face. On his head was red hair dancing in the winter breeze.

The moment the man saw Fotas walk by the entrance, his eyes glared fiercely.

"Young man, I presume you have arrived at Winterhorn very recently, seeing that I have never seen you before." the man-sized Fotas up.

"Yes," Fotas said shortly. He was still upset that the rabbits made a laughing stock of him on his first time out.

A grin appeared on the man's face, and a mischevious look came right after.

"Looking at your face and where you just came. I'm guessing you got done in by the pack of Icicle rabbits in front of the village huh." The man started poking at Fotas. "It seems to me that you don't know how to fight at all, is this why you came to the Hunter's to ask for help?"

Hearing those words Fotas temper flared up. Thoughts of rebuking the man started to pop up inside his mind, but as quickly as those thoughts came, they faded away. Taking a moment to think about his past, he stopped himself. A look of hesitation flashed across his face, but slowly the reluctance drifted away from his eyes and was replaced by determination.

"Yes, I came to ask for help. I want to learn how to fight, and I don't want to repeat my mistake for personal reasons."

A fiery determination fueled him. His back was slowly straightening, his voice becoming more steady, and his body relaxed up. He looked as though for once in his life he could finally let go of his worries and take action, as though his fears were finally being confronting. his presence slowly started to change from the ever slow easy-going nature that he had, it began to turn into a single determined flame. His mentality, which was first shifted when he remembered his past of being a gamer was accelerated due to him not wanting to repeat his history.

"Ho? It seems like I was wrong. You aren't that spineless after all. I was half expecting you to argue back. Well, no matter if you want to learn, there is no problem with that. Just take my L O V E!"

Roaring out the last line, the man shifted his foot back and pulled his fist behind him. As fast as his fist disappeared behind him, it reappeared again in front of Fotas's stomach.

Barely seeing the fist approach him all fotas could do was smile. Remembering his new passive that he gained he thought that he could at least take one punch from the weird man.

BAM

The fist connected squarely with Fotas's stomach, and he was pushed upwards. The force behind the punch was enough for Fotas to float above the ground by at least 4 feet.

"Interesting, your body absorbs some of my force of when I hit you. This must be related to your body structure."

The man mumbled to himself while looking at the falling Fotas.

"Well, the fall damage should still kill you. When you come back to it, go to the smithy and do some work. I need to get the equipment to train you effectively. I also don't teach for free."

Turning to walk back to the building, the man finally remembered something and quickly turn around to say one last thing before Fotas touched the ground.

"Oh yea, by the way, I'm the head instructor at the Hunter's Building, Ingrid."
