Chapter 4

Maybe i should focus on my technical skills these last two days. That what Bernard said, but what he did these last two days had nothing to do with technical skills. In fact it had nothing to do with football as he used those days to idle by in reading novels watching movies and animes. You might wonder what someone who came from the future might want to watch in that period but you will be suprised by how many different interesting things are out there. Though he might have squeezed in some few football videos and matches. Hell why do i need to be anxious if anything, by my stats i am over prepared Bernard thought. From the FM17 game he used to play, he was pretty sure his attributes could have gotten him a first team status on some teams and at least a rotation or backup status at top clubs not considering his age though he will admit he needs a lot of luck today. Bernard started to muse about the system again as he watched cars and buildings flash by. He is currently in his Uncle's car to the trials at Manchester. The UK football trials always have about 10 to 15 scouts at the site. All he has to do is impress one and show them what he can do.

You really quiet over there... Uncle Richard spoke. You alright, no tension or anything ?

What to do you think, am super calm right now. Ok, he shrugged as he took his eyes of the road to glance at me. Don't worry am sure Kwesi will not laugh to much if you fail, he said with a grin.

Not if he doesn't want to be grounded by aunt Jane, Bernard said with a chuckle. As the conversation entered a lull Bernard with back to his wonderings. His memories felt like their were his but also strange at the same time. It was like he made decisions that he would have made if he had been reborn again making him wonder if he was totally reincarnated and time fowarded or it was a time reversal, which still couldn't explain the memories. Memories of him joining amateur clubs and participating in school and church football activities were foreign to his former self. Not to say he did not do anyone of them but the frequency was vastly different. All these preparations were what contributed to his current calmness. Bernard knew another reason for not training was from fear of injuring himself just before the trials.

After some few more minutes on the road, they finally arrived at the location of the trials Stockport Sports Village. Bernard looked at the pitch and noticed some people already on it in their kids. Bernard checked in with the organisers of the trials, made sure all his information are correct, such as his preferred positions which is playing across the frontline and most importantly his date of birth, December 1998. He doesn't want to leave anything to chance.

Half an hour later, everybody had arrived and were all ready for the trials.

Alright lads, you can call me John Lewis. Am in charge of this session. Am going to put you through some exercises. John was a muscular medium height man with crew cut hair. He has a deep voice that could be heard a few distance away without him shouting. After that we going to have a 11 a side game, in all we will be here for three hours so look alive lads.

We started with a warm up by going 2 laps around the pitch. Then we moved on to the main drills, starting with spotkicks which Bernard thought did not do him good with it being his first test if graded over 100 would be about 25. It ended with Sprinting with Bernard being the fastest and an asian kid coming close second. As Bernard looked at the manager writing notes on his clipboard, the Asian lad came up to him.
