Jose sighed and scratched his head, it wasn't as though he didn't think of this scenario, it just seemed a bit cliché for his liking. "You know, although orders are orders, some orders are rather stupid and don't actually need to be followed, right?"
"Is this your pitiful attempt to get me to change sides? Oh, how cute; however, when it's orders that come from our leader, they just can't not be followed, otherwise there'll be consequences," Number 1 Goddess said in a snobbish tone, her hand resting against her puffed-up cheek. "So, how about you take a couple of steps out and we just end you know? That way, no hard feelings done, okay?"
"I didn't want to do this, it's just such a pain in the ass to deal with your kind of people," Jose sighed before taking a step forward and activating his skill, True Intimidation. The rest of the party joined in, taking a step forward to exit the Town of Beginnings before activating their skill, True Intimidation.
Number 1 Goddess stood still, her body shivering from the sight in front of her. She felt as though the eyes of a beast was locked on her. She's felt a similar feeling once before, on the 1st server when their guild did a large-scale dungeon raid. The boss also completely paralysed their entire guild, aside from the leader and a few others no one else managed to move. However, it also felt much stronger than that boss, the fear felt different somehow.
Once outside the town even if they attacked a player they couldn't be blamed, not to mention the fact that Number 1 Goddess was dumb enough to initiate the attack. Now, once they were finished with them, they would be able to get themselves quite a bit of loot.
Initiative attacks work in unique ways; when a player attacks another player unprovoked it will send that unprovoked player a notification of the attempt if they didn't die in one hit. This player would then be able to retaliate, then, once killing the attack a majority of their loot would drop. However, that attacker will have to be killed by either the player or party, if not, it'll be the usual death.
Jose cast Earthquake and due to them being frozen by the fear they weren't able to avoid the attack. The ground cracked and ruptured beneath them, some of their legs ended up being encased in the ground. The pain awoke them and brought them back to reality but why then it was already too late.
Hayley and Maddy shot their arrows, piercing the players' heads, right between the eyebrows. It was a vital hit, in the place where most players would attempt to protect for themselves and attack on enemies. Blood dripped down from the arrow before the bodies shattered into bright blue particles.
[Hayley has initiated the attack on Noob Killers Party 6]
Looking at the new notification the group's eyes farrowed, they stared at it momentarily before they heard the bushes rustle. Looking up an entirely new party of players slowly walked out from the bushes, at the front was the leader of Noob Killers, Beelzebub.
"Suppose those players will be getting their hefty bonus pay. I really didn't think your party would be idiotic enough to attack all the players at random, especially not after I saw your skills just before," Beelzebub said as he shook his head disappointingly. "Now, I want to know what you did to me at the centre of the town, how did you get that skill, if you do this, I might be kind enough to let you live."
Currently, they had their backs against the wall. Once they were tagged as players that initiated an unprovoked attack, they wouldn't be able to enter the city. The guard at the entrance wouldn't allow them to pass through; it was a method developed by the game designers to prevent players from just taking a step outside the towns or cities, attacking players, then retreating.
"Huh, I really didn't expect that," Jose said in a tone of approval. He had assumed that once he used his skill Beelzebub would have backed off. He didn't expect for Beelzebub to not only swiftly plan an ambush but also go for their new skill at the same time. Granted, unfortunately for Beelzebub, it wasn't a skill learnt through skill books or trainers.
"Unfortunately, I'm going to have to let you down there, it's a personally learnt skill, not something learned from trainers or skill books," Jose said with a sigh. He didn't mind talking about it because the players wouldn't be able to do anything to them to learn it. Unless they were murderous killers or combat experts in real life the chance of them being able to learn it is 0%.
"Huh, are you tell me that you're some kind of god in the real world? I wouldn't believe that even if you were to pay me 1 Billion dollars. Now, be honest with me and tell me where you learnt the skill." Beelzebub wasn't buying it at all. He felt the terror overwhelm his body, it wasn't something even a final boss in the later stages of the game could do. He believes that it had to be the work of a unique quest or something along those lines.
"Hey, it isn't my problem that you happen to be so mentally weak and lacking intelligence," Jose said before readying his staff. Luke and Harrison both readied themselves as well, standing in front of Jose with their shields held close to their bodies. "Though it is a problem if you were to kill us."
Casting Earthquake, Jose took a couple of steps back to get a better view of the battlefield, the two shields in front of his face certainly didn't help with his vision, especially since Harrison and Luke were both rather tall man. Hayley and Maddy took to Jose's side and pulled back their bowstrings, an arrow nocked in preparation.
The two targeted towards the back of the group; unlike the two bald bros they weren't stupid, they knew how ineffective it would be to shoot at the tank in front of the group. If they weren't mistaken, the tank would likely possess enough health and defence to survive a shot to the head with their current strength. However, they weren't willing to test whether or not their theory was correct.
Their arrows show through the air, both of them had used their skills in an attempt to guarantee their kills. However, the tank at the front did something completely unexpected. Bending his knees he released his strength through the soles of his feet, he took off, reaching a metre or two in the air, completely blocking the two's arrows with his shield.
Beelzebub grinned, he looked at the two with contempt. "I suppose you wouldn't know this but the tank before you is ranked 43rd on the International Tank Rankings, a ranking filled with only the best in the world. Your measly shots won't get you anywhere if you continue to do it by the norm. Granted, I'm not surprised that you wouldn't know that, especially since you didn't even expect us to have a few tricks up our sleeve."
"I suppose you don't get into the top 100 guilds internally without having a few people to carry you," Jose cheekily remarked. He said it in a joking manner, but Beelzebub's eyes squinted from fury, he wouldn't allow anyone to call him weak, especially not some random newbie.
"It isn't just the players, it's also through a wide range of unique tactics, one of which you just recently saw, another of which, you're about the witness," Beelzebub said coldly, his eyes looking past the group, towards the Town of Beginnings entrance.
Feeling something off everyone in the party turned their heads for just a few seconds, however, when they looked back, they didn't notice anything out of place, their eyebrows raised from the lack of anything. They turned back around and saw that Beelzebub remained still, his arms crossed as his eyes gave off a frosty gaze.
Jose felt that something was off, the surroundings were far to quiet despite them being right next to one of the most dangerous forests in the starting stages of the game. Jose dodged to the side abruptly, a dagger narrowly grazed past his cheek. With the stealth down an Assassin appeared before him, she clicked her tongue in annoyance before changing her grip on the dagger to a reverse grip. The tips of her feet were lightly touching the ground, she spun around and aimed at Jose's neck.
Jose was momentarily stunned, not by the abrupt attack but more so by the sudden notification of him earning a new skill. Unfortunately, time waited for no one and Jose snapped back into reality. He would look at it later, for now, however, it's best that he just survives.
Notifications all have different sounds depending on what type of notification it is. Whether or not it's about a player attacking you, you attacking a player, or even a quest, all of them have different sounds. Granted, the sound is very subtle, only different by a single tone. However, Jose has managed to memorise them all just for time's sake. He decides whether or not to immediately look at the notification entirely on the sound, whether or not that was a good strategy, Jose had no clue, that's just something he decided to spend a bit of time on while he wasn't playing.
Jose ducked beneath the dagger, it grazed past his hairs, cutting a few off even. Jose slammed his two hands on the ground and using them for the support he swung in right leg horizontally. It was a low sweep, targeting the Assassin's heels.
The Assassin's eyes widened with surprise by the agility of the mage, unfortunately, when it came to agility, Assassins would always be far superior entirely due to their class. She lightly hopped off the ground, jumping over Jose's low sweep by a single hair's width.
Her eyes widened from the sudden force from her side, looking down she noticed a sword digging deep into her stomach. She suddenly felt another powerful piercing force smash her from the other side, it was another sword, the two swords were deep into the Assassin. It didn't take long for her to die, especially after two damaging hits.
Beelzebub nodded his head in approval, Jose felt so confused by this man's unique personality. At one point he was disappointed, the next he was furious, and now he seems rather happy. Beelzebub clapped his hands together and rubbed them against each other gentle. "How exciting, I suppose that even though you're a bunch of newbies you do in fact possess some skills. And here I was thinking it'll be boring."
The bushes rustled violently, player after player popped out, parties filled with people surrounded them, cornering them against the town wall. The tanks of the party took a couple of steps out, furthering their distance from the party while lining up in the shape of a semi-circle.
There were roughly 160 players, more than what they had during their dungeon raid, it seems that they decided to get some backup. Granted, that came to no surprise for Jose, he did use True Intimidation on the man, he must have been preparing to fight against another boss monster.
Suddenly, a bright screen popped up in front of them, it was incredibly vibrant, it radiated the vibrant red light. Its word was easily readable and spoke clearly.
[Congratulations to Deadly Dragons guild for being first to clear Town of Beginnings (Difficulty 3)]
Beelzebub clicked his tongue in annoyance at the announcement, Jose raised an eyebrow in confusion. Although he did his fair share of research, he didn't read anything about this type of announcement.
Maddy sighed before explaining what just happened, unlike Jose, Maddy went into a much greater depth of analysis before she joined the game, to the point where she was searching the game developer's forums for any important information. "That announcement is something new to the game, it only appeared for the 2nd server. It's something that happens when a player is the first to reach a milestone. However, the Town of Beginnings are slightly different, they have a multitude of announcements for the same thing. As shown, the Town of Beginnings that Deadly Dragons cleared had the difficulty rating of 3, around the midrange, and it seems they were likely the first to complete it in Australian servers as the one announced internationally was set off yesterday late into game time."
All Towns of Beginnings and cities were completely separated; however, they would still be accessed through the use of World Teleportation Scrolls. Other Towns of Beginnings or cities located in the servers of other countries, on the other hand, could not be accessed unless there was a special event happening.
"Seems we don't have that much time, we need to finish off that dungeon," Beelzebub said while staring at the announcement. "Before that, however, we may as well finish our business."
