What do you do for fun?

Chapter 18 What do you do for fun?

Sav was cheery the next morning until she felt herself being followed once again. This time, the stalker wasn't even trying to shadow her steps. Tired of the unending threats, she stopped walking and remained still. The shuffles of her perpetrator's feet stopped a second later.

"Show yourself," Sav said, unsheathing her blade from its sheath.

A woman revealed herself but it wasn't Brielle. Sav could see the resemblance and understood what Z meant by how much they looked alike.

"Took you long enough," she said, her petite figure elegantly walked towards her. She was wearing a summer dress and her light make up made her even more natural and bright. Sav thought she could be mistaken as an angel.

"I'm Katrina, Brielle's sister," she said with a heavy Russian accent. "Unlike Brielle and Thomas, I was brought up in Russia and thus the heavy accent."

"Hi, I'm Sav," Sav introduced, knowing fully well she didn't need to.

"I know," Katrina said as she waved her hand to dismiss the unnecessary introductions. "It's quite amazing that you're still here. You're a tough nut to crack."

"Thanks." I almost cracked.

"You should know that Brielle was against it but I wanted to do this for my brother. Unfortunately, you were just in the way. I had to get rid of you fast just in case he gets better."

"I understand."

Katrina glared at her. "No, you don't understand," she seethed. "If you do, then why are you still here?"

"Because I was chosen whether you like it or not and your threats aren't gonna work on me anymore."

She started swearing in Russian and Sav wondered if the split personality run in their family.

"But, I have a proposition," Sav cut her off then took out her notebook. "This coming school festival, if you score higher than me, I will leave this academy voluntarily." She began writing her statement and when she was finished, she took her knife, made a small cut on her thumb and stamped her fingerprint with her blood on the paper.

She smiled as she gave her the statement. "Are we good?"

Katrina hesitantly looked at the paper and read it. "T-this is—"

"A blood contract. If I don't abide by it then you can kill me, as written in the laws of mafia."

"I know what a blood contract is," she sneered. "Prepare yourself Savannah Cahill. I don't go down easy."

"Me neither." Sav turned to leave but stopped. "I have one last question. What does Z have to do with this?"

Katrina tipped her head sideways, her eyes blazed, seeming to remember something that annoyed the hell out of her.

"He broke my heart."

Leo was already sitting in class when Sav came in. Thankfully the teacher was running late or else she'd get a mark. Sav wanted to tell them, especially Z but changed her mind when she saw Z's playful smirk. They greeted like usual and Sav even said hello to Riselle who only nodded.

"Let's skip school," Leo said quietly to her and stood up to leave.

"What?" Sav whispered, not believing what she just heard. Z watched them suspiciously and mouthed, 'Finally getting a room.'

"You heard me," Leo said, beckoning his head to the door. Sav followed him anyway until they were a few meters away from the classroom.

"Are we really going to do this? Won't we get in trouble? What if Ms. Fenton finds out? Will we be punished—"

Leo took her hand which Sav wasn't ready for. He raised it, letting go a little to interlock each finger with hers. Sav watched it as her mind jumbled of what it could mean and her mouth suddenly mute.

"What do you do for fun?" He finally asked, breaking the silence.

Sav gulped, not knowing what to answer.

"This is so much fun!" Sav cried as she held a fake gun in front of a screen of a zombie apocalypse.

"Don't get your hopes up. If you get killed, that means you lose to me," Leo challenged, shooting at the same caliber as her.

It's been hours since they arrived at the biggest arcade in town with Sav wearing purple hair. Leo said it was for security purposes. They both wore caps as well which they later took off because of the heat—the heat of the competition. Sav never thought he was so competitive though she was glad he wasn't the type to let her win just because she was a girl.

"Leo, aren't you sensing the crowd?" She asked and true enough, a bunch of gangly members watched them beat the highest level of the zombie apocalypse game. It must have been the most popular game in the arcade me but Sav noticed they were followed wherever they played.

"Yes, are you bothered?"

"Not at all." She smirked. "Prepare to be beaten by a girl."

"Not a chance."

For the hundredth time, Sav finally won and there was a cheer from the crowd. She pumped her arms in the air as she was praised.

"Did you see that Leo? Look at them cheering for me."

"Of course, it's always the underdog," he replied as a matter of fact.

"I won. Yes, I won!" She jumped up a little excitedly.

"Only because I let you."

Sav glared at him. "No, you were beaten. I saw it."

"Me, beaten by a zombie dog? Don't you think that's a little suspicious?"

"No, no." She shook her head. "No, I won! I beat you!"

"If you say so." He began walking towards the food court.

Sav quickly walked in front of him. "You're just bluffing. I really won that last game."

"Cute."

Sav blushed, stopping her tracks and fuming. She watched Leo walk ahead and sighed, smiling sadly.

I hope we can be like this longer. I hope you won't get mad at my decision. I hope you'll still let me be by your side when you find out. I hope you'll miss me when I'm gone.

"Come on, let's have a meal." Leo turned, his eyes crinkled into a smile.

But in the end, I hope you'll just forget about me.

So I can forget about you.
