To initiate the last phase of the plan, Audrey motioned to two people, who nodded in understanding and shot their guns into the air. Nobody looked confused and surprised in the least and acted out their own parts. A few let out piercing screams with smiling and calm faces, gunshots rang through the seemingly empty streets and the throng of beauties walked around to spread the scent of humans.
Not long after, a number of zombies poured into the streets and shambled over to the group. The group all headed towards where Aiden and the distracter went to in a frantic frenzy. As for whether they were acting or not was up for themselves to decide.
In the distance, a handsome man with a short, ebony undercut quickly came out into the streets with a petite girl following him. Seeing the horde of zombies attempting to catch their prey, the two ran to a bus that the group had previously drove in and started it up. Now, they just impatiently waited for the rest of the group to hop on.
When everyone finally piled onto the bus, just a hair away from the claws of the zombies, Aiden hit the accelerator and drove out to the city.
The atmosphere on the bus was extremely tense. The petite girl that led Aiden away from the group was shivering violently, her hands grasped her arms and her skin was deathly pale. When the harem saw her acting so frightened, they were filled with a bad premonition.
Only Aiden's rhythmic tapping against the steering wheel could be heard in the bus compartment.
Every tap sent a sliver of fear into each person's heart. His grim face was reflected onto the rear viewing mirror for all the passengers to see.
Audrey began to feel cold sweat build onto her jade-like skin, pondering, 'Why is he angry?'
Although she considers herself intelligent, she just couldn't find out why Aiden was furious. Looking out the window in hopes of relieving herself of her mental fatigue, she noticed that they were going farther away from their base: a country house with large walls and farm with many other houses and extra walls built around it. She had always admired Aiden for managing to rule over a sizeable base with nearly a hundred people, sustaining the base with just a house and a farm.
Now, seeing her home turning into just a speck due to the lengthening distance, her hands clenched together in a praying motion from fright. All the beauties on board have also realized they were going off route and heading to somewhere isolated and far.
Two hours later, the bus took a sudden sharp turn and Aiden, without turning his head, demanded them to "Get the hell off." Everyone poured out of the bus on wobbly legs and looked at the open door of the bus. Aiden's sharp side profile could be seen, but he does not spare a glance towards the people looking at him with pleading and scared eyes.
He simply closed the door and drove away.
The self-formed harem all stood in shock at the man speeding away into the sunset... wait? Sunset?
The abandoned people squinted their eyes at the sky that was dyed red and quickly, Audrey, seeing the sky quickly turning dark, utilized her fire ability to form a fireball to light up the surroundings.
"Quickly, build a wall!" Audrey barked out an order to a delicate-looking girl who quickly conjured up a two-meter high wall that surrounded the people.
They set up an improvised camp within the walls. Since they had Oliver carry their baggage, like sleeping bags and tents, they had nowhere to sleep. They only had enough food to last them a couple of days, which is enough for them while they travel back to base.
Everyone had furrowed brows and contemplated, 'Will they even be welcomed back to the base?'
The camp was quiet. They have realized that they may have underestimated Oliver's importance to Aiden.
Nevertheless, what is done is done. Aiden would hopefully cool off before they come if not, they would just have to beg with tearful eyes and make him take them back again. Or they could try and to hug on another powerful man's thigh on the base. Like Aiden's closest subordinates!
Will that work...?
Nobody actually felt any hope. They all knew that once they returned, despair awaited them. But, they were so used to being pampered by powerful people and protected carefully due to their beauty, they made up fantasies and false hopes that they would still be taken in.
It took nearly a week to reach the base on foot as they had to not only walk miles, they also had to avoid zombies. Due to their lack of fighting experience, they had to constantly detour.
They cheered when they saw the walls of the base and rushed to the gated entrance. Audrey was in the lead, yet, before she could even touch the gate, a gunshot stopped all of them in their tracks.
"Halt!" A militaristic man with a buzzcut shouted out with a stern face.
"We're part of the base, I have my ID-"
"I know who you are. But, under the orders of the leader, you guys have been banned from the base."
Terror immediately took over their faces.
Audrey's large eyes squeezed out a few tears and her voice was sweetly hoarse, "B-but why? Where would we go? Are you guys seriously leaving us out there to die?!"
As if on cue, all the members of the harem began to cry, if anyone simple-minded saw the scene, they'd feel intense sympathy for the crying beauties.
The guard was unmoved and instead furrowed his brows more. He always knew they were a bad bunch, he would always criticize them and took Oliver's side when handing regular, instead of easy, tasks to those people. His comrades always told him to be nice to them because they were like fragile dolls, but now, the same comrades have denied in complimenting or taking pity on those so-called humans.
This is going to be a long day from the looks of the hysterical people outside.
With a few more gunshots and threats, the group was officially kicked out of the base, left to their own devices. Anyone that is seen or suspected of harboring any of these, now labeled, fugitives will undergo the same treatment after confirmation.
When the buzzcut man finally shooed them away, he turned his head to look over the base. It was weighed down with a heavy atmosphere.
