"Liang Guozhi, w-what are you d-doing here?" She stuttered slightly as her eyes wandered around the room, trying her best not to let her eyes travel to the handsome man that was right before her.
Light footsteps walked straight toward her. Her eyes might not be looking at him, but she felt his silver eyes boring into her soul.
"Well, I heard someone went on a drive and was also caught at a crossfire" His voice was deep, but there was no anger like Yang Jia had expected. Instead it was magnetic and soothing, is that type of voice that would put you in a trance.
The young lady was a little dazed just by listening to his voice. Oh Yes! This is what she needed to end this chaotic day. The person that she has been missing for the past few days was finally back and she missed him OH SO MUCH! but she didn't want to meet him under these circumstances.
"Well you s-see I-I didn't mean to" Her voice was uttered softly. Her mouth formed a pout and her eyes looked like one of a grieving child.
Liang Guozhi's heart melted in a puddle of jelly, sweetness overcame him as he was able to witness one of the cutest expressions that the love of his life has ever made. His stern expression softened and who could blame him? Seeing his Jia being all flustered and nervous was making his heart feel many different things in so many ways.
In the end, he decided to leave it as it is. He sighed deeply and walked in front of her and pulled her into his embrace "Next time, don't do something so dangerous"
Yang Jia felt the familiar strong arms wrap around her body. It shocked her at first, but she also wrapped her arms around his waist, savoring the moment.
His pleasing aroma filled her nostrils and it gave her a sense of comfort. Finally, she could relax after a long day of havoc.
"Okay" She slightly whispered and laid her head on his shoulder.
They stood there for a good five minutes until Liang Guozhi heard light snoring right beside his head. He moved his head towards the sound, only to see his Jia sleeping on his shoulder.
He lightly chuckled and immediately carried her to the room. He placed her on the bed and instructed Aunt Mei to change her clothes into something more comfortable.
After Aunt Mei finished, she excused herself and left Liang Guozhi alone with Yang Jia.
Liang Guozhi looked at the sleeping Jia with eyes full of adoration and love.
He leaned over her head, until his lips were right above hers. Oh how he missed those plump lips that were just calling for him to devour hers. It took a large amount of self-control to not kiss her and instead left a lingering kiss on her forehead before he left.
Liang Guozhi entered the room and began contemplating. If he were to give a title to their relationship as of now, then it would be... friends with benefits?
Yeah that definitely did not sound good. Boyfriend sounds much better, but what does he need to do in order to earn that title?
It was time for him to figure out a way to get into a serious relationship with Jia, so that soon he turns into her boyfriend, then fiance, and at last her husband.
Liang Guozhi was a very impatient man, he couldn't wait for the moment where he could kiss her freely and hold her close to him. Shout to the whole world that she was his and he was hers.
He couldn't wait for that day to come, hopefully it arrives sooner rather than later.
________
The sun shone through the curtains, which made Yang Jia to slowly wake up and stretch from her deep slumber.
The day definitely felt much more peaceful than the day before and it gave her a sense of relief.
"Good morning, sleepy head" A charming voice was heard from right beside her.
Yang Jia yelped and looked back at Liang Guozhi who was sitting right beside the bed like he usually did before he left for his business trip.
Placing her hand on her chest, she let out a shaky breath "You scared me. Are you trying to make me have a heart attack?" She said in a sulky tone.
A chuckle came from Liang Guozhi's throat and gently patted her head "You're too young to be having a heart attack"
Yang Jia froze when she felt his hand touching her head, but snapped back to reality soon enough.
Her face turned scarlet and she mumbled "I know it's just a saying, so that next time you don't scare me to death"
Her heartbeat was beating fast at the fact that Liang Guozhi was still petting her head "Okay, I promise that next time I won't scare you" He gently coaxed.
After he said his vow, Yang Jia felt much more satisfied.
"Let's go, breakfast is ready" He said and pulled his hand back.
Disappointment filled Yang Jia's heart when Liang Guozhi stopped touching her. As if a part of her had just gone missing.
She nodded "Okay, let me take a quick shower and I'll meet you downstairs"
Liang Guozhi nodded, he stood up and left the room leaving Yang Jia alone in the room.
It gave Yang Jia plenty of time to think about Liang Guozhi's actions towards her while showering.
Yang Jia grabbed the hair shampoo and started scrubbing her silky chestnut hair.
'Since he's come back last night, he's been openly affectionate towards me. What's changed? And what exactly are we?'
The last thought made her stop on her tracks. They have kissed many times yet they weren't in an official relationship. Liang Guozhi hasn't asked her out and if he did, how would she respond?
It's an answer she'd rather not think about. Jia didn't want to bring her hopes up only for them to be crushed.
Yang Jia finished taking a shower and got ready. She put on a black camo tee shirt with some gray and green cargo pants and as well as some black combat boots. She tied her long chestnut hair into a high ponytail.
Yang Jia admired herself in front of the mirror for a minute or two, mumbled a few praises directed at herself before she left and went downstairs to eat breakfast with Liang Guozhi.
When he saw Yang Jia entering the kitchen, Duke ran up to Yang Jia for his daily dose of cuddles and kisses by her truly, Yang Jia.
Occupied with Duke, Yang Jia didn't notice the gloomy man that was seating on the table while watching her PDA with Duke. It was truly saddening that a mere cat gained most of her attention instead of him.
Duke would've probably already onslaught him if he heard that Liang Guozhi was calling him a 'mere cat'.
