When You Lie

His house was located in middle town.

His father was an official and earned good living so he bought this house for his family before two years of his accidental death.

Both siblings were learning in the high class schools with the money of educational insurance.

Their mother worked in a small company to meet the daily needs.

The family was in a good condition though their relatives have not connections with them, they left them when the head of the family died.

Yue Jing reached at the entrance of the house of his neighbor, he called the old neighborhood aunt to take care of his younger sister, it was late night when he reached.

He knocked on the door.

An aunt opened the door and affectionately called him in, "How is your mother now?" she asked while sitting on the sofa.

She was old and cannot walk or stand much.

Her old wrinkled face was full of affection.

"Mother is not in good condition, she is still in intensive care unite, I came to see if little An. is troubling you," Yue Jing lowered his head, he cannot say much.

"I hope your brave mother can survive, little An. was crying but my granddaughter came to visit today, so she did good care of her and now she is sleeping in her room," old aunt answered.

"If you need any help tell me, I can call my son to help you and don't worry about little An." she stood up and patted on the shoulder of Yue Jing.

An. Jing was listening a story and ready to fell asleep when she heard the voice of her brother, she rushed downstairs, the girl rushed behind her, An. was not completely awake, she might get hurt by falling from stairs.

"Brother Yue Jing, you came this late, where is mother?" An. asked her brother while holding his hands and looking at the tall mountain.

He could not answer her immediately, he was thinking a valid excuse even if it was a lie.

She saw the opened door and ran toward the door, "I know, mother will be home,"

Yue Jing leapt and stopped her, "Mother is not home yet, her ankle got hurt and she will come home when doctors will clear that she was fine to walk," he bent on his knees and put his both hands on her cheeks to coax her.

An. looked at her brother for few moments, she extended her hand and placed on his nose tip, "Brother Yue, you lied just now," she seriously spoke which jolted the heart of Yue Jing.

He looked at her blankly, what to say his younger sister.

"How can you say that I lied, did I ever lie to you?" he was curious how she concluded that he lied to her.

"Your nose tip is warm and not tepid that means what you just said was not truth," she explained impassive.

Yue Jing helplessly looked back at old aunt to get help from her.

"I see little An. is tidbit naughty," she lightly chuckled.

"An. don't you want to read the comic and what happened to the princess?" a soft voice interrupted.

"I will read it for sure," she walked with heavy steps toward the stairs half-heartedly and stopped, "Big brother, I won't talk you until you bring back mother," she stepped fast the stairs carelessly and went in the room.

Yue Jing was at loss.

"After taking few things from home, I am going back hospital, I ask for your favor to look after An. for the time being," he spoke in broken tone.

"She is just a small girl, don't take her words on your heart," old aunt could only console him.

He arranged the initial case filing steps.

After that he made a copy of evidence and sent it to his personal account in the legal counsel bar.

He was permanent member of the young lawyers association, he sent a copy there.

He saved two copies in the international storage provider account.

He attached all the prepared files and emailed the counsel bar.

Yue Jing put his phone in his pocket after changing his suit.

He then searched the police bureau directory and saved few numbers.

There was no such law to sue someone such powerful personal for an accident of an ordinary woman.

She was not some official, nor with strong background, her husband also died in an accident five years ago and she could not fight the case being lonely woman, all those memories were fresh when Yue Jing saw the disappointment on the face of his mother.

She was not willing to use the money of educational insurance on the case when she knew that she would never be able to win and bring justice for her husband.

She sacrificed a lot.

Death was inevitable but what about conditional death, caused by the negligence, it was equal to murder.

In half an hour, Yue Jing reached at the city hospital and looked through the glass to see some changes in his mother's health, but she laying lifeless as before.

He dialed a number, "Sānjí Jîngjiān* speaking," the other side answered.
