Chapter 2: Board Walk

Still staring at that thing that'll soon hopefully be finished for the art galla, my mind continues to draw a blank. My eyes get heavy and I struggle to keep them open. "I need some rest", I think. It's been almost an hour since me and Ricky's..dispute, and he eventually got tired and went to sleep. That is the time I usually take control, so I turned the television down, but I'm still not able to focus. I'm tired, worn down, and at an artist's block. I can't help but let my eyes flutter, taking my mind on an inevitable trip to God knows where with God knows who..

I'm at a convenient store, or maybe a grocery store. I walk around the aisles straight to the bakery section; I don't know if it was the scent that brings me here, or maybe I was craving a warm, delicious treat. It's quiet here. It's warm and welcoming here. I don't remember what my next move was going to be, but whatever it was got thrown out the window. The sirens and the red emergency lights throughout the place rampaged, making everyone inside the store frantically exit. I dont know what came over me, but I lingered a bit. Waiting patiently as everyone left the store, I finally decided to leave too. I walk outside and am no longer surrounded by a building or even a parking lot, but a lake with one long walkway to a house only visible by the lights inside. I walk this seemingly miles long pier in a matter of seconds, and waiting at the doorway of the house is my grandmother who stands there smiling. She tells me, "Why wait on a blessing when your continuing to welcome the burden?", as she grabs my hand, I try to speak with her, but I am sinking in the lake. I can't recall how I ended up here, but I drift away.

I wake up to running water. Its pouring outside and not quite morning yet, but bright enough outside to walk a dog or sit on the porch and watch the moon fade. I usually am not one to remember my dreams too well, but this one stuck, especially what my grandmother said. Its quiet right now. Its warm and welcoming. I make some coffee and head to my office where I pick up my paint and begin working at the canvas.
