Chapter 16

I try not to tune in to politics until it's two or three months before the election. Till then, it's like watching preseason football.

-- A Few Hours Later, Milo's POV --

I am standing in a room with the Avengers.

So far, from what I can see from the Avengers, they are along the line of their comic versions. I knew this was going to be the case, after all, so far everything happened along the lines of comics, but I would be lying if I said I didn't half expect the universe to throw a curveball and the Avengers to end up being like their MCU counterparts.

Regardless, there are some similar to their movie versions. Some of them were even quite close.

Captain America is one of them, only this version is more military fashioned, and seems to better integrated to the society.

Iron Man is an arrogant genius. That part of him is same as his movie counterpart. But in here, he has a secret identity.

Then there are others who are nothing like their counterparts. Mainly Hawkeye and 'Thor'.

Hawkeye is an asshole. His movie version is a lovable family man, but this guy in front of me is just the worst. He believes himself to be the 'Alpha', the big man that everyone should look up to since he has been an Avenger for a long time, while in reality, he is probably one of the most expendable members of the group (well, that part is same as the movies I suppose)

Then there is 'Thor', but he is not Thor, not really. He is just one of those infinite number of characters that can lift the Mjolnir. I think his name is supposed to be Eric Something. Can't remember his surname, but I think it starts with an B- no M. Pretty sure it starts with an M.

All of this doesn't matter I suppose. For now we should focus on the upcoming War.

— General POV —

Captain America had just heard the report of the team he had send to learn more about Shi'ar and Kree situation, and he was pissed.

Situation seemed dire as there seems to be hundreds of war capable ships that are trying to use Sun's energy to open up a Wormhole to gain an advantage in their war.

But that wasn't the reason why good old Cap was pissed. It was because one of his fellow Avengers threatened to murder the Shi'ar fleet.

"You did what?!" Cap screamed as he punched the table "Good Lord, Avengers don't operate that way lady" he told to Sersi.

"Then maybe we should. It's not like they would show us the same courtesy. Sersi said with anger in her voice. She did not understand Avengers need to let their enemies live.

Archie then decided to voice his opinion "Cap, I know I am the new kid on the block, but it was a viable bluff at the time. And even if that wasn't the case, this was a warship they brought, there are bound to be casualties if we engaged."

Cap looks Archie in the mask before addressing everyone in the room. "Then let me ask you all a question... Had the Shi'ar Praetor had not given up, would you have been PREPARED to carry out your threat?"

Seeing that there seems to be tension building up, one of the more cool headed Avengers decided t change the topic back to the problem at hand... "Debate is all good and all, but shouldn't we attend to the matter at hand?" The taller version of Scarlet Johansson said.

"You are right 'Tasha'." He told her before addressing the entire room once again. "What I'm about to suggest may seem as likely as finding a needle in a haystack, because even our combined abilities are next to nothing compared to the might of Shi'ar or the Kree. But we need to somehow convince these two ancient races from fighting each other,"

Then a southern Quirk User raises an eyebrow "But why? Ah mean, what right do we have to tell them who they can fight and who they can't?" She asks, only for her boyfriend to whisper something along the lines of how if this war happens, and the wormhole is used, then the effect on the Sun would decimate Earth. "Ah retrieve mah objection," she said

"No, you pointed at a right point." Cap said, getting everyone to look at him with curiosity "I do not suggest an intervention. I suggest diplomacy. From what we know of X-Men, Shi'ar seems to be far less war oriented than the Kree. Perhaps they can be reasoned with."

Milo all but snorted at that.

"You have something to add son?"

"Look Cap, no offense, but from what I know, Shi'ar are just as war oriented as the Kree, maybe even more so. They won't just listen pretty words and pleas."

"Thank You," Sersi said with a seductive smile that did not go unnoticed.

"Be that as it may. This is our best option, we do not have technology nor the man power to strong arm them, diplomacy is the way to go." Cap said with a finality in his voice.

Then both Archie's and Milo's eyes widened and they had the same thought 'The Drawback'. Whoever, or whatever had sent them here had given them the powers they picked in the CYOA, but it had also given them the drawback of no one believing their future knowledge. They had actually not encountered this problem much since they mostly avoided sharing their future knowledge with others but it appears they can't even share a broad knowledge like Shi'ar's bloody history.

Cap continues to explain his plan "By utilizing Quasar's warp powers, I propose to send two teams as envoys. One to Kree and one to Shi'ar. While the remaining third will stay on Earth to act as our rear guard."

"Iron Man, Black Widow, and I went to great lengths in deciding the membership of each envoy. We looked at your power levels, experience, scientific background, and adaptability to the rigors of space while doing so." He said before giving his warning "This is a tough mission folks, I would not fault any of you if you want to back out... no questions asked" he waited for a moment and when no one said anything he continued. "Those assigned to Kree Empire are myself, US Agent, Iron Man, Crystal, Hercules, Rogue, and Sersi."

"I hope my actions cause you no further embarrassment Captain," she said with sarcasm dripping from her voice.

"That makes two of us Sersi... Alright moving on to those traveling to Shi'ar Imperium... Thor, Wonder Man, The Vision, Scarlet Witch, Captain Marvel (Monica Rambeau), Living Lightning and Green Lantern"

'Fuck me sideways, I am in the same team as Scarlet Witch...' Archie thought to himself as he eyed the Witch, resulting in his girlfriend to notice it, and thug her arm around his and glare at the witch.

"And finally our Earth Force..." Cap continued "She-Hulk, Falcon, Mocking-Bird, Spider-Woman, Hank Pym and The Wasp, Kars, and Hawkeye." He said.

Getting everyone to nod except for Hawkeye, who was pissed that he had been 'demoted' to 'Earth Force', so he stormed out.
