Chapter 41 - Privacy

The lunch and the gathering was all a blur for An Fei. The rushing to getting everyone onto the bus to avoid any of the main family noticing. Another rush in the restraunt to get everyone seatted and the meals served.

An Fei did her best to be a good host to their extended family on behalf of her Grandparents. Making them feel comfortable and making sure that everything that they need is provided for.

A fully stocked up kitchen in her old apartment was a shock to her when she dropped the families off. She was not expecting Pamela to go to such an extend to make sure of so and An Fei was thankful to have Pamela. At least now she can leave them knowing that if the food outside is too expensive they can cook up a meal with the seafood, meat and vegetables in the fridge. She told them to finish the perishable items as soon as possible as most have been sitting in there for a few days and she is not moving back anymore.

Bidding them goodbye with a promise that she will be back before they go back to send them off, she left feeling relieve. Pamela had also taken the initiative to arrange for a driver to come over from Grandmother Shen's car workshop to drive her back to the Shen Mansion.

Once she got in, the divider was raised and it was just left with her alone at the back. Finally catching a break, she took a number of deep breaths.

"Pam, please update me on Xin."

"Sure thing. Xin had woken up just before we left the house just now. He had spend 38 mins 23 secs tossing and turning in the bed before getting off it and was on his phone the whole time. He had a call from his Personal Assistant Wen Hao, then made a call to a friend named Sally and was on his phone answering emails the rest of the time. Your Grandfather came in to check on him after settling the main family 1 hour 24 mins 5 secs after we left. He arranged for lunch for the both of them to be brought up to the room and the both of them had lunch and Grandfather Shen didn't want to be alone. So he had been in the room the whole time with Xin and is now taking a nap on the sofa while Xin is still on his phone."

Just as she was listening to this. She was wondering to herself why does Pam have to be so precise as to tell her the seconds.

"Big Sister, do you need me to go into details about what their conversation is about and what was spoken in the phone calls?"

"Pam, have you heard of privacy?"

"Well, Google tells me things. But which context are you referring to? The definition? Or if Sarah had said it before? She had said it about 36 times during all the conversations that we had. Also with other people about 53 times the past 4 years that I have recorded."

"No Pam. No. Arrghhh. I forgot you are a computer."

"So you mean the privacy settings of my servers and software? I can assure you it is the best that you can ever find in this day and age. It amused so many people how advance my software and hardware is. Do you know of my latest new motherboard that I have created and replaced for myself? It just sits so perfectly in the server room. Ahh... How I wish you were there to see it now..."

"Now I feel so sorry for myself. Pam, what I mean is not that. What I mean is everyone have their own privacy as an individual human being. So the privacy I'm referring to is that you don't have to tell me every second or every minute what they are doing and what is spoken. Just a rough summary would be enough. Unless I need to know or I asked, else, let's give them their privacy and not listen in to their conversations."

"Oh. That. Oh. So is this like a new code that I need to write into my system? Like a new rule or something? But if you asked about it and I tell you isn't that what they call it the infringe of privacy? Now you are confusing me."

"Yes. Of course. I don't want you to break any laws at all. We need to protect ourselves too. But if it has something to do with people scheming behind us, we need to be ahead of them. Correct?"

"Well you don't have to worry about the law. I'm way better than those small flies in the Police Headquarters. I'm very sure about my skills. As for the scheming I'm way ahead of you. The main family can't do anything to you as long as I'm around. I'm your 24/7 surveillance."

"Thank you. I don't doubt anything you said. I'm going to call my best friend now. So privacy please?"

"Sure. I'll shut my sensors, monitors and microphones. Do you need me to keep a record of the conversation for your future reference?"

"No. I don't. I'm very sure of that too."

"Ok. I'm off. Switch me on with ur mobile app after the call."

"Thank you."
