Vorbuk walked with the prince towards the Temple's gate and peered outside. Ashley stood behind them as well. His focus was more on the two of them. Worried something could happen to Vorbuk if he fell outside the wall or got in the way of another casting their magic.
"Where did the others go?" Vorbuk asked prince Leo as he glanced behind them. He was certain they had been near him earlier when he had his breakthrough. After walking towards the wall all of them but the prince and Ashley had left.
"While you were cultivating the priestess has been healing the wounded. She ended up taking Zoe under her wing to help her learn a bit while we've been here. Since Zoe spends most of her time aiding the priestess, Daryl is usually watching over Zoe with the tiger.. Bredret has just been.." The prince wasn't sure how to explain Bredret's situation.
"What's wrong with him?" Vorbuk felt strange with the prince's hesitation.
"The lizard has taken to drinking all the pope's wine." Ashley completed the words the prince was struggling to explain.
While Vorbuk was cultivating the past few days everyone had relaxed and found ways to train themselves. Bredret was not among the others during that time. He had been following the pope around and drinking all the liquor he could get his hands on. Consisting entirely of the pope's personal wine collection.
"Fuu..." Vorbuk exhaled heavily as he imagined that drunk dragon following the pope around the past few days in order to drown himself in the pope's wine.
The dragon had always been a heavy drinker with a rough temperament. Drinking was like second nature to Bredret when anyone thought of him. They had rarely seen a time when that dragon was not hiding liquor on himself in order to always have a drink on hand. However there was something strange with Bredret's behavior. It was strange to consider him so desperate for a drink that he would cling to the pope.
A tightness could be felt in Vorbuk chest as he considered what the reason could be for the dragon to be acting strangely. After what had happened to Bredret recently it would not be strange to see him acting a bit out of character to cling to the pope for a drink. He could understand it clearly.
"He'll come to his senses eventually. I don't think he's that weak willed to let himself stay down very long." Prince Leo said as he watched Vorbuk's reaction. Although he said the words he still couldn't be certain how long it would take Bredret to recover from his incident. It was not a physical one but a deep emotional wound.
Booommmm! Boom! Boom!
They could hear the sounds of the vampire breaking through the barriers outside among the silent pause.
"Fire Barrier! Block his path! Earth Barrier back them up from behind!" Johan called out to the temple's mages.
All at once everyone around the wall worked together to send all the fire element users to the front. Accompanied by the earth wielders beside them.
From all around the temple streaks of fire could be seen shooting out from the temple walls. They were not aiming directly for any knight nor the vampire. This confused the intruders momentarily as they stilled. Snapping back to their senses some of them dashed to evade the incoming flames.
Crashing into the ground outside the temple the fire exploded more violently. As it rained fire down on the werewolf knights causing them to panic the earth trembled. The heat was scorching to those who came in contact with it.
The ground split open and rose up behind the scorching flames. If someone tried to jump through the flame wall they would collide instantly with a thick wall of earth. The more the ground rose it wrapped around the temple completely from the outside. Encasing the temple within a circular earth wall.
As the earth's movements came to a halt the trembling ceased. Smoke could be seen coming from the other side of the earth wall.
"Now! Collapse it! All of it!" Johan called out to his people once more.
He had not intention of leaving the earth wall up. If he left it there that meant entrapping his own people. That would make it harder for them to fight back in the future. It would put them at risk. No, he had a different intention in mind.
"Yes!" The people replied back in unison as others watched.
Sending out their control over earth once more they caused the earth to tremble. This time more violently.
"AackK!" "Run!"
The werewolf knights screamed and ran in a panic. What was once a marvelous earth wall began to crumble. Collapsing straight towards the werewolf knights the earth came down on them. Smashing many knights beneath its violent destruction.
Those that tried to run could not tell what direction they could move. Some even shoved others down that were blocking their own escape. The land that was once on fire was put out from the earth that buried it. Trees were either buried, shattered, or swept away by the earth as if it was a angry river whisking everything away that it captured.
Vorbuk watched the scene as he tried to pin point the location of the executioner. Someone like him would not be easy taken down by the collapse of the earth wall.
The moment his eyes caught sight of the young man in the distance he could tell who he was. Swinging his dagger to shatter anything coming in his direction the vampire struggled to not be swept away. Blocking his figure behind a large boulder out of the reach of the collapse. His movements were too swift to be buried alive.
In fact the executioner was aware that even if he was buried alive he could not be killed in that method. He simply could not stand the thought of dirtying himself to extent that he'd easily allow himself to be buried.
The method that Johan Lovette used was not something he could used repeatedly. His people would need rest. For the rest of the night he would need to allow those who used their mana for this method to rest and recuperate. It was only done so grandly to give the enemy a warning to slow them down so that he could earn time for his men to breath.
After such heavy casualties the Theapan King would be forced to rest his own men and retry after calming his own men down. The blow to their morale was too heavy for them to continue head on.
That could not be considered the same for the vampire but if Johan was lucky it would at least make him a bit more cautious and slow him down. Hoping for that outcome he could only watch the king's knights pulling back from the battle like he had hoped. Though in the distance he could see the vampire glaring at the temple with anticipation.
"Don't let your guard down. We don't know what he will try to do in the future." Johan said to his aid Uriel who was talking to the others about their duties and shifts for the night.
"Yes, your holiness." Uriel answered him instantly.
