Aoki The Vampire Elf (Part 2)

Even while carrying Ashley in his arm like a sack of luggage Bredret's speed was not inferior to Aoki. As a dragon known for his speed in flight Bredret was able to maneuver with the breeze in the air. It was almost like he was one with the wind as he ran. A body naturally fit because of his dragon bloodline. Bredret could not be mistaken as inferior to a vampire when it came to speed.

Closing in on the two of them, Aoki's hand reached out. His heart was racing at the thought of catching his prey. He could almost reach them.

Shinnnggg!

Aoki pulled his hand back quickly in reaction. Ashley's blood scythe swiping through the air at his arm. If he had been any slower he could have lost his hand.

Ashley was trying to shift his position so that he could maintain his weapon. From behind them he could see the vampire chasing them towards the temple. Every movement he made was uncomfortable while he was being held by Bredret.

"What are you doing?" Bredret was beginning to get frustrated with Ashley's constant fidgeting while he carried him.

"I'm trying to help from behind. You just focus on what you're doing." Ashley was already embarrassed to be in this situation with Bredret. He might not have been as fast as Aoki or Bredret but he was not as incompetent as that prince boy!

"Leave it we're almost back!" Bredret couldn't stand to hold Ashley any longer.

His eyes judging the distance left between them and the temple. Gripping his hand tightly on the back of Ashleys clothes he readied his visual on the temple's gateway.

"Wha-!!!" Ashley did not have time to react to what was going on.

Ashley's body was sent flying through the air. Whooshing right past the prince and the wolf they halted in their movement to keep heading outside. Glancing back to witness the vampire's body tumbling across the ground while sending out a barrage of swears.

We need him to feel confident if we want to draw him in.. Bredret thought as he watched the swearing Ashley climbing back up immediately after his rough landing, covered in dirt. If Ashley stuck close to the dragon he could cause Aoki to give in before they got him inside the temple where they wanted him to go. Distance had to be put between him and Ashley for Aoki to feel more confident.

Bredret could already feel the killing intent on Aoki increasing as the vampire rushed him again from behind.

"Ashley!" Prince Leo and Vorbuk both rushed over to check on Ashley after seeing him get tossed away by the dragon. "Are you alright?"

"That bas-" Ashley stopped himself and breathed heavily. He could not allow himself to loose his temper in front of his master.

Already losing your visual facade, huh? Was the look that Ashley saw written on Prince Leo's face as he stood there looking at him.

Bredret did not care what the others were doing right now. His mind was focused on the vampire, Aoki, behind him.

Aoki could sense that they were acting strangely. His mind was aware of what was going on around him even if he could not control himself. The feeling of being lead by a carrot and stick was something he was familiar with. It was obvious that they were up to something.

However his desperation for a source of food was too great. His sense of rationality was no longer able to guide his actions. It was as if he was a starved beast unable to control himself from going after the easiest prey he could get his hands on. For him that easy source of food was the dragon closest to him.

"Bredret, bring him inside the temple!" Vorbuk shouted out.

Aside from Prince Leo the dragon was the only other one among them who could understand Vorbuk when he spoke in his wolf form. That made it easy for the wolf to communicate with Bredret without worry. He could give the two of them orders when needed without others prying in on anything he said.

Hearing the call from the wolf Bredret picked up his speed a bit. The vampire sticking to his heels so close that it felt as if Aoki could reach out and touch him if he slowed down any more. A golden light flickered in his eyes as he hated playing the role of the mouse in this game. Since when did a dragon like him have to endure such humiliation for mortals!

As the vampire neared the temple gateway everyone distanced themselves from the gateway. They did not want to risk pulling the attention of the vampire as he passed inside. It was as if the temple was welcoming the vampire as he ran inside the gate. Entering the temple's grounds.

SLAM! THUD!

The temple's gateway was quickly sealed off from behind as Bredret lead the vampire inside. Only enough time given for them to put some distance between them and the gateway before it was sealed off shut. Leaving the only way for the vampire to leave was to scale the walls once again. It caused the vampire's heart to pound instinctively as he felt everything closing in around him closing. A feeling of being cornered was something that even beasts would tend to lash out when felt.

"Tsk!" Aoki clicked his tongue as he glared all around him.

From in the distance he could see the mages on the temple walls still fighting off the werewolf knights outside the temple. There was also Prince Leo and the wolf, Ashley and the dragon, and in the distance he could see the pope, Johan Lovette directly the others under him. Something seemed off about his surroundings.

"Priestess Mai! Zoe! Now!" Prince Leo shouted suddenly from where he stood.

In the distance the Priestess Mai and Zoe stepped out of hiding with Daryl standing guard by them. A cluster of words beginning to be uttered by them as their bodies began to give off a beautiful golden glow. The light radiated around them as it expanded slowly into the air brightening up the area of the temple they stood.

What made Zoe a beautiful combination with the Priestess Mai was that they made up for what each other lacked. Zoe had knowledge and survival skills from living outside in the world. The Priestess on other hand was more knowledgeable in utilizing her skill as controlling her mana. When the two of them combined it was like a work of art.

Aoki began to panic as he felt the light mana in the surroundings. They were intending to use light mana against him? His body flinched as he thought about his situation.

No there was no time for him to consider running. There was already food around him and he could not hold out any longer. He could no longer consider the idea of running away. However a cornered beast will never surrender without putting up a struggle. Aoki bared his fangs he cast a cold gaze across them. Their magic would not go off instantly so as long as he killed them before they could finish..
