King of Theapan (Part 6)

Boooommmm!

The ground shook beneath them. A loud explosion vibrating the earth from a distance causing everyone to look in the direction of the temple. Fear was clouding the knight's faces as word spread quickly. The pope, Johann Lovette, had managed to kill their general on the battlefield.

"Do you think I will just silently kneel here to you?" King Luke said while thinking to himself; I am a king, I can't kneel so easily to someone else.

Lowering his hands from his neck he growled. His wolf ears pinning back against his hair. The king's body rose to his feet as he moved towards Vorbuk.

A werewolf's body was stronger then an average human. While the king's body was slamming into Vorbuk it felt as if he had been struck by a speeding car. The force behind Luke's body slamming into his shook his concentration and vision for a moment.

The two of them crashed into a group of barrels. Water from inside the barrels splashed across the ground around them as they landed on the ground. Their clothes drenched while a fierce growl could be heard echoing from both Vorbuk and the King.

There was no time for Daryl or Chase to properly react to the king's actions til they were on the ground. King Luke had Vorbuk pinned below him.

BAM! BAM! BAM!

King Luke struck down at Vorbuk with his fist repeatedly. Vorbuk did his best to block each strike from the king. Retracting his own fist and striking up against King Luke's face.

The king stumbled to the side from the sudden strike to his face. Losing his balance he tried to regain his senses quickly. Sensing that something was coming for him, the king turned his attention.

"Chase!" Daryl's voice rang throughout the air. He was unable to stop the tiger from lunging at King Luke.

Rrrroooarrrrr!

The tiger's large claws swiped at King Luke from behind. Slashing open his shoulder, the king was forced to retreat back. With every step he took the tiger roared and followed him. Chase kept his focus on the king's every step with determination to keep him away from Vorbuk. The tiger's ears flicked at the sound of Vorbuk climbing back to his feet.

"You alright?" Daryl asked Vorbuk while glancing him over for any signs of wounds. Vorbuk was drenched from head to toe and had a look as if he had been rolling around in a swamp.

"I'm fine." Vorbuk assured him while dusting himself off with the king in his sight.

The king smiled at Vorbuk briefly before turning to glance at the sight of the knights fighting. Many had scattered and become a mess after losing their general. It was clear that the fight was not going in favor of the king. He knew that clearly more then anyone else.

"Do you think," King Luke's gaze dimmed as he stood there. "I only have one method as well?"

"What do you-?" Vorbuk was confused by his words.

"Werewolves," Daryl spoke up beside Vorbuk. "they don't need a sword to fight. You knocked his sword away earlier, but that is not the only method he has to fight."

"Ah," Vorbuk sighed.

"Your mana.." Daryl pondered how long Vorbuk could hold on with his mana before passing out.

"Lets see you struggle then," Vorbuk growled lowly as he started to step in the direction of the king. If the king wanted to struggle til the end he would deal with him regardless. It did not matter to him how much King Luke fought against him. In the end the outcome would still be the same. He needed to drag this king back to the palace with him as a hostage.

"Your heart is too soft," King Luke smiled bitterly. "you think I can't see you wavering?"

"What nonsense!" Vorbuk could not see how his heart was wavering. He understood what he had to do and felt he had accepted it well enough.

"Does it look like I am under your blades anymore?" King Luke asked them while smiling.

Since they were no longer a threat to the king's life directly things had changed in the atmosphere around them. The knights that were gathered around no longer had to worry about the safety of their king if they were to attack. Their attention was focused on waiting for the king's order. Daryl flinched as he caught the gazes of the knights gathered around.

"Kill the intruders!" King Luke ordered the knights.

The knights began to close in around them with weapons out. They were ready to strike them down.

King Luke did not say anything further to his men. Turning around he began to leave. His steps were quick as his intention was clearly to get away from that place. The direction he was heading in was not towards the temple, not towards the tents, or his own men. The king was directly heading out of camp and into the trees. Every step he took was imprinted in Vorbuk's memory as he watched the king's actions carefully.

"Vorbuk, we should probably-" Daryl wanted to say something about the situation.

"Chase," Vorbuk didn't look at either of them. At the mention of his name the tiger's head turned in the direction of Vorbuk as he spoke. "don't leave Daryl's side."

"What are you talking about?" Daryl asked while looking around them. How were they supposed to get out of this?

"I'm going after King Luke." Vorbuk replied bluntly as he looked in the direction the king had swiftly gone.

The king didn't even try to hide the direction he had gone.. Was that intentional? Vorbuk pondered. The king had moved quickly but every step he had taken was not masked. It was like the king was not afraid of Vorbuk escaping the knights.

No, perhaps he simply did not care if his location was known. King Luke was at peace with his fate. Even if he struggled to remain alive the man still accepted the fact that his life was forfeit in this war. He simply wanted to die with what honor he had left to his name.

"I will cover you from behind." Daryl said as he wielded his sword firmly in hand. He was not sure what the king was intending to do out there under the cover of the forest. "Don't do anything stupid out there."

"I should say that to you right about now." Vorbuk laughed as he considered Daryl and Chase to be in the worse situation as he left. They were the ones who would need to buy him some time to catch King Luke.

Out of the corner of his eye Daryl could see Vorbuk rushing after King Luke. Without a word they were being left behind. Daryl knew that he was meant to follow after Vorbuk from behind. Though he could not allow the knights to follow Vorbuk as well. The tiger at Daryl's side roared out loud as its sharp claws dug into the ground. Standing side by side the two of them were ready to cut down any knight that dared to approach them as they stood to block the direction Vorbuk and King Luke had run.
