Rescue - 2

Loki was looking at the towering creature in front of him with the mildest hint of fear. He took a few steps away from the creature. 'I was just passing by. You can move along your way.'

The creature growled loudly, approaching him in a lethal manner. Loki frowned, listening to his sound with mild annoyance. 'You misunderstand. It was I who stopped yesterday's fire, not start it!' he told him curtly, lying through his teeth. The creature growled louder.

Loki laughed. 'You lost someone during that minuscule fire? Who told you creatures to investigate in the first place? And losing someone in such a menial occurring simply puts your abilities of protection in question.'

The creature roared in fury. Blazing fire attacked Loki squarely on the chest. 'Alright – that is enough! I tried to warn you!' spat Loki, attacking the demonic creature with a green bolt, making it heavily fall behind.

The creature landed with a huge thud, collapsing with a tree as it did so, making it fall creakingly on the ground. As the creature stood up again, he was backed up by four others, who suddenly appeared from the woods.

'Shit.' Loki mumbled.

He could've easily escaped the situation, but something inside his heart was craving more damage. Not for himself of course, he loved himself too much to let that happen, but he had no mercy for the creatures in front of him, which in retrospect was applicable for most of the species who walk on all the worlds in the cosmos.

Their fight was wilder than the bushes around them. One against five was indeed as bad as it sounds. Soon, the whole forest cover surrounding them was on fire. Loki was slightly burnt and wounded, yet he fought with might. He knew he could disappear in a blinking second if he wanted to, but something inside him was forcing him to fight back.

Soon three more appeared. Loki being surrounded by them, was majorly outnumbered. Death by the hands of one of the deadliest creatures did seem like a pretty good way to die for Loki, but he knew he wouldn't die, even if all of them attacked him at once.

'You think that my death will give you peace over what you lost? So be it!' Loki declared laughing widely and spreading his arms. He knew that the dim-wit creatures would feel that he was surrendering.

The creature that had attacked Loki moved towards him and breathed hot smoke through his nostrils in fury. The others immediately backed away, leaving the pair alone and disappearing out of sight once again.

It was staring at Loki dead in the eye, clearly cherishing this. It shot a flame so huge that Loki was blinded for a second as he stood rooted to the ground, waiting for it to hit him.

Something sprang upon him so suddenly that Loki was knocked over the ground, making dried up leaves beneath him crunch loudly. The fire flew past him hitting a nearby tree and engulfing it in flames. Loki sat up straight, only to watch Nevaeh lying beside him, getting up herself.

'You! Where did you come from?' Loki asked wildly.

The creature roared angrily, frustrated with this new interruption. It started towards them in a furious manner, ready to pounce upon them. Nevaeh watched at the creature gapingly, as horror filled her eyes.

'Let's get out of here, these are vicious creatures and it's in their nature to kill. Come on – let's leave! Now, Nevaeh!' Loki yelled urgently, slightly pushing her away without taking his eyes off the creature that was about to pounce on them

'Wait!' Nevaeh yelled loudly, running two steps ahead to stand in front of the creature with both her hands in the air. 'You – you are Crystal's somebody! You look just like him!' Nevaeh said, laughing a little. 'Oh, he is a sweetie! Although, a bit of a jerk, because he left me to die,' Nevaeh informed.

The creature suddenly sprang on them, kicking Nevaeh away from Loki by its tail and faced him directly, ready to attack. Loki was about to give up his charade, pull Nevaeh towards him and get the hell out of there.

'Wait!' Nevaeh yelled and ran towards them again, now directly facing the dragon. Loki wondered if the girl had a death wish. 'Look! I am his friend! I saved him from hunters!' she said rummaging in her bag-pack before pulling out a blue dragon scale and placing it in front of the enormous blood-thirsty dragon.

The dragon took a step back, closing his wings in the slightest. He sniffed the scale and moaned so loudly, that it sent a hollow wind flowing across the trees.

Suddenly a bright, glittering-blue, baby dragon soared from the air and threw himself at the huge moaning one. They rolled on the floor together. The huge one licked Crystal's head and embraced him.

'Crystal! You traitor! You abandoned me! You are the worst friend ever and you cannot come with me to my home, because this kind of unappreciative treatment is not tolerated inside our household!' Nevaeh fumed looking at Crystal.

'What the hell is going on?' whispered Loki.

Crystal trotted towards them on his back legs. He again nudged her stomach and rolled near her feet.

'Yeah, that is not good enough!' Nevaeh said.

Crystal was again making weird noises through his nostrils while looking directly at her as though trying to defend himself and Nevaeh sighed, wondering what form of reinforcement was appropriate to improve an overly defensive teenage dragon's behaviour.

Loki narrowed his eyes. 'He says that he didn't realize that you fell – till after he finished eating the bird – at which point he went looking for you and you were nowhere to be found. Also, that is his dad right there – say hi.' Loki finished, frowning heavily at Nevaeh, his forehead creasing. 'This raises more questions than it answers,' said a confused Loki.

Nevaeh waved to the huge Dragon saying, 'hello,' but it was busy rummaging behind a nearby tree.

Daddy Dragon approached them slowly with a huge dead boar in his mouth. He placed the dead carcass near Nevaeh's feet, making her gasp horribly.

'Do not throw up. This is his way of thanking you for bringing his son home,' Loki said quietly.

'Why don't you two have a father-son dinner? I bet Crystal has a lot of stories to tell you!' she said smilingly, 'and Crystal, I am sorry I called you traitor. You had a rough day and you were clearly hungry. You are a sweetheart, and I will miss you. But I promise, I will visit you again and you can show me everything around here!' finished Nevaeh, pausing to take a deep breath.

'Yes, don't worry. I know where they all live,' Loki said smilingly. He was glad that his identity was spared for the moment about which he was yet lost.

The huge dragon growled a little at him. Loki smirked, retorting, 'the feeling is mutual.'

'What did he say?' Nevaeh asked quickly.

'He said that it was a pleasure to meet me' lied Loki.

'Really? It sounded as though he said something snarky' she said suspiciously.

Loki sighed. 'He said that don't bother to visit our lands without the shiny, little human, because he is not fond of me,' Loki said, shrugging a little. 'I am not fond of them either.'

'Well, I love you both,' she said as she turned to look at the two dragons. She approached Crystal and hugged him lightly. 'Take care till then' she whispered, patting his blue wings. Crystal growled and puffed his chest with a somewhat noticeably proud expression. Nevaeh expectantly looked at Loki, who in turn was suspiciously looking at the dragon.

'Well?' she nudged Loki.

'He said – 'May the force be with you? Umm – Am I missing something here?' Loki asked, but his voice faltered as she started clapping her hands together in happiness.

'I knew you could understand me! You catch up well, Padawan. May the force be with you two,' Nevaeh said, and bid a last farewell to the magnificently beautiful creatures.
