Fast And The Fabulous

'Oh, my god,' Nevaeh hushed. For a moment she couldn't move her feet due to this heavenly sight, but she recovered herself quickly and weakly walked towards him. 'You are so beautiful!' She stopped right in front of him to stare at his wings, which she'd no idea he possessed till now. 'You are an angel!' she hushed again, refusing to blink. Loki had no intention of stopping her from gushing; he had a few moments to spare for his righteous praising. 'Actually, no,' she said, 'you are so gorgeous that even angels would be jealous of you!'

'If you say so,' Loki couldn't help but blush a little. She carefully went behind his back to take a proper look at his wings. They were protruding from his shoulder blades, looking quite at home. She kept gushing 'so pretty' under her breath. Loki had heard that compliment enough number of times in his life, so he finally decided to interrupt her.

Nevaeh was about to touch his wings by her fingers when she felt Loki's hands grab her legs from ahead. 'Off we go,' he said, sliding her over his back, just before breaking out into a run and diving from the edge of the cliff. Loki heard her shriek out in surprise and he chuckled, stretching his wings wide in the air as his feet left the ground.

'Oh my god! THISSSS – ISSSSS – CRAZZZZAAAAAYYYYY!' Nevaeh yelled happily at the top of her lungs as they soared into the air. The breeze was making her hair flow all over the place, but she didn't mind. She was clutching Loki's back a bit too tightly afraid she might fall off him. His body wasn't as huge as Crystal, but his wings were sure huger. 'We are flying!' she kept screaming ecstatically and laughing heartily after it.

At first, Loki felt like his ears might bleed, because she was leaning on his back, her louder-than-a-banshee-mouth was facing his ear directly, but then he quickly lowered his auditory senses, allowing her to scream her heart out without any interruptions. Also, her sheer joy was making him laugh from time to time and he really wanted to focus on flying, being out of touch since quite a while now.

They were flying over the enormous ocean and under the bright blue sky, their shadow not even reaching the distant waters beneath. Loki was maintaining the same height so that they could see the ocean and follow its direction. He figured he would soar upwards after they cross the border he had in mind.

After a few silent minutes, Loki raised his auditory senses, getting a bit bored without her entertainment, only to hear her still-shrieking-voice burst into his ears. 'My boyfriend can FLY!' After which, he instantly regretted his decision and laughingly raised the barriers once again.

Fifteen minutes into the flight, Nevaeh's throat began feeling a bit soar. She took a deep breath to straighten her posture and gaze at Loki's beautiful back flapping his wondrous wings. She didn't want this to end. Ever.

Despite the sun over their heads, the breeze was feeling pleasantly cold. The thick, green trees, neatly aligned along the surroundings were agreeing with it as they gently moved with the air. Loki felt Nevaeh's hand pat his back, but he assumed that she was merely readjusting herself. In a few seconds, a sharp tug at the back of his hair suggested him otherwise. Loki quickly lowered the auditory barrier. 'Yes, love?'

'Why are you so quiet?' Nevaeh asked.

'Oh, you know, I was just happily enjoying your melodious voice,' Loki said, tilting his neck to the left as he lied.

'Aww,' she said and rested her head on his back. 'You look like some magnificent half-eagle, half-peacock,' she whispered.

Loki chose to take that as a compliment. 'Sure. I can be whatever you want me to be.'

'Just be you, like always,' she whispered. Loki smiled as he kept stroking his wings upwards. They weren't too far now. A mere ten minutes of flight and they would reach their destination, which was still unknown to Nevaeh. She soon realized that the ocean had disappeared from beneath them. Nothing but cottony clouds surrounded their bodies. It was weird to stare at nothingness all around them. Living in New York, she was used to bustling streets and overcrowded places, but this was as if they were floating through heaven, on their way to have tea with some other angel-friends of Loki's.

Loki kept going higher and higher, till he started soaring at the same level once again. 'You can go faster, you know,' Nevaeh said, who was wondering if he was flying at this averagely-fast speed because he feared that she might get frightened.

'Do you want me to fly faster?' Loki asked.

'A little,' she said.

'Your word is my command,' Loki said, mightily swinging his feet and shooting his wings backwards. Nevaeh immediately felt a jolt in her stomach as she swung ahead on his back due to his force. He had really taken her request to the heart, a bit too much apparently.

Loki shot through the air, swooshing his wings widely, propelling ahead at a speed a car couldn't even reach. Nevaeh instantly began whooping again in sheer happiness. The clouds appeared to be a long stretch of white blur.

'Hold onto my neck!' Loki yelled over the sound of the gushing wind. 'Hold on tight!'

Nevaeh hastily tightened her clutch and was about to ask why when Loki turned a whole three sixty degree in the air, making them spin twice.

'Cool! So cool!' Nevaeh yelled, for whom Crystal never did such a thing.

A huge stretch of green land with countless, similar-looking houses were visible in the form of tiny specks beneath them. The air on their necks was getting hot and humid. Loki slowed his pace and flew at a normal speed, swooshing his wings tad lower. A white, marble-like castle stood in the East, its enormous citadel looming over the never-ending gardens beneath. Loki kept flying ahead, knowing exactly where to stop. They passed the castle, the suburbs, the farms, and were now flying over the forest, which occupied most of the north and south.

'If you fly a bit low and slower, I might be able to see the view below!' Nevaeh said.

'All things in good time,' Loki said, who didn't really want her to look at the farms and forests right now.

The forest came to an end, stretching its borders into a massive river which kept flowing till the West. Loki flew high above it, his eyes quickly searching for the place he had in mind. Far aside the river, he saw the humongous, familiar-looking, green and red mountain, ending in a plain stretch of evenly grassed land. It looked as if the place hadn't changed a bit since the last time he was here. Nevaeh was quietly staring around her. The breeze was feeling cold again, the river's sound was pleasant, the air smelt sweet, and she felt like she have never been more at peace in her life.

'Love, you remember I said that I would give you a cue for that prediction?' Loki asked politely, breaking her blissful state.

'Yeah,' she said. 'What about it?' She could see that they were flying over green land now.

Nevaeh watched in horror as Loki's body hummed a bit, his wings completely vanishing. In the next second, they began falling. 'Loki! Your wings are gone!' she yelled.

'I know!' Loki held her waist. They were propelling down at an alarming speed. 'That is your cue! Predict what happens in the next minute! Quick! We have only few seconds more to spare!'

'WE ARE GOING TO DIE!' Nevaeh predicted without feeling the need to predict. 'You crazy, flying monkey! Get your wings out now!' she screamed. Her cheeks were hurting with the pressure of the wind.

Loki let go of her waist and held her by one hand, at which she began screaming more. 'What are you doing?' she screeched. 'I don't have my wand, you moron! HOLD MEEEEEEE!'

'Fifteen seconds down!' snapped Loki, as if she were wasting time by worrying about their death. There were no clouds near them and the ground was almost clearly visible now. 'Nevaeh, you wanted to train! Well, it starts now!' he screamed, holding both her hands. 'Now, trust me! And start focusing on what could happen in the next thirty seconds! Hold the Norn in your hand! Do it!'
