An inventors insight

Abigail took a series of trains and buses across the country. The final train left her right next door to her destination as she walked through an employee only door and walked down some stairs. At the bottom was a single door that looked heavily fortified. Abigail knocked and she her buzzing as a camera above her focused in on her face. A clunk inside the door echoed and it opened into a small room filled with paper, robots, computers, and a single desk filled with monitors.

Izzy was hunched over the desk working on disassembling a machine of some sort. She was simply wearing what looked like a black cat onesie so she could minimise time between sleep and work without needed to change clothes as much. Liam, on the other hand, actually greeted Abigail with a hug and closed the door behind her. He guided her over to a chair sat next next to her.

"She's been working on that thing since we got back here." noted Liam. Abigail tried to see around Izzy but couldn't get a good view of the machine.

"What exactly IS it?" asked Abigail.

"It's one of those weapons used in the attack on the sanctuary."

"WHAT?! How did you get one so fast?"

"Well, we saw that massive ship appear over the planet while making our regular supply runs. When it fired onto the surface we came as fast as possible to the sanctuary but the ship left and all that was left were these weapons. Wait, were you at the sanctuary when it was attacked?"

Suddenly, a high pitch whine filled the room and Abigail tore Izzy away from the desk and onto the floor as the weapon fired a projectile into the wall leaving a large burn mark. Izzy pushed herself up, looked at the burn mark, looked at the weapon, and then back at the burn mark. She noise of giddy excitement as she examined the weapon.

"Amazing, this thing is SOOOO cool." Izzy began talking to herself. "Normally something with such a powerful projectile would need a crazy amount of stored energy to even create the project itself. The amount of energy to sustain it and propel it is even more! But it creates the energy on the spot! It spins two Zamerium infused magnets inside two coils made out of wire that's microscopic!"

Once Izzy had finished be a fan-girl, she noticed Abigail a greeted her enthusiastically.

"Abi, what are you doing here?" asked Izzy.

"I need your help. We-... Cynthinia lost Amy through a portal during that attack and no one knows where she's ended up." explained Abigail. Izzy smiled.

"Say no more!" she spun around to a keyboard and typed something in. The monitors all started moving to form one large monitor and turned on to show a map of the planet with purple dots nearly filling every country except a few in certain places. "Each dot is a person with a connection to the omni-network. First we'll filter out artificial connects and other non-natural connections. Then I just need to know were Cynthinia meant to take her. Most of the time portals made in a hurry still lead to a location within about 2000 kilometres of where the creator subconsciously wanted to make it."

"Brazil I think. Well, we ended up in the Amazon so that's really all the information I know." said Abigail.

"That's fine. So I'll narrow it down to within a 2000 milometer distance from the edge of the Amazon aanndd... That's not right." said Izzy. Liam and Abigail looked at the screen in confusion.

In the middle of the south Atlantic ocean was a large blob of purple dots. Each individual dot seemed to be moving around in random directions creating a chaotic mess of purple.

"What is that?" asked Liam.

"It's either 'tristan da cunha' erupting again or something much bigger. Either way, I think that's where you'll find Amy. Without knowing what her ability is we don't know if it's her causing this glitch or not. But it couldn't hurt to find out." explained Izzy.

"Yeah, couldn't hurt at all. Thanks guys." said Abigail as she watched the maelstrom of purple continued.
