Dev came back from Rishi. He kept quiet. He was asked a lot of questions but he did not answer a single one. His eyes were bloodshot red.
Ika and Jeev talked with Gopi and Bali, that the first priority was marriage. Post the ritual, Bali could spank Dev as much as he wanted, was what Gopi suggested , but only post marriage. Kir was adamant on calling off the marriage, keeping the best interests of Ador as first priority. The other guy, who had come as a savior was also present, ready to marry the damsel in distress.
Ador did not want to marry any of them. She started hating male gender. She went into her Dad's arm and cried her heart out.
Kir's chest was heavy. He too had a very hard time consoling his family and replying to a quiver of questions from relatives.
Ita just wanted everyone to leave. It was a hectic day for all of them, they did not have the strength to carry on. There was no news of Unma. Ita was worried for both of her children.
There was a sudden siren coming from far which stopped in front of Roopkatha. A group of people in white uniform had accompanied Unma to the marriage hall. As per her complaint, the groom had run away from marriage. So for harassment and humiliation charges, the officers had come to talk with Bali.
In the meantime, amongst such chaos, the so called relatives, friends and colleagues started eating dinner organised in the dining hall. The caterer was ready to serve the dishes. Such sumptuous feast, who would like to waste. From king size lobsters, to hilsa in mustard sauce, to bhetki paturi, to chitol mach er muitha, to mixed vegetables as jhalfrezi, sweet pickle, papad, ice-cream, to fulko luchi and basanti pulao, everyone was having, sitting in batches, eating and gossiping about the marriage on the rocks.
That is the harsh reality of life.
Downstairs , in the first floor, the police talked with both parties and brought them to a conclusion of marriage of Dev and Ador as soon as possible in the mandap within the lagna, as it was a matter of societal justice and acknowledgement of marriage, plus they did not want the bride to be left alone without marrying the groom, when the in-laws were ready, though the would be husband was silent and aloof, wherein both parties were not at fault.
Ador who was sipping oral rehydration solution at her residence was brought soon. The marriage registrar made both Dev and Ador sign the documents and left. Then amidst furious eyes of Unma , who was kept under control by Ita, with difficulty, Kir did the kanyadaan.
Thus there the fate of both was sealed for a lifetime of Ador and Dev, a whirlwind marriage, a chaotic marriage that will be remembered for long by all.
