"All I need to do is put you in a physical body, then I'll be free?" Lazaro asked.
"Yes, as I said, I'll do it myself. From the moment I entered your body and came to earth, I gave up the title and divinity of a goddess, so although it'd be good to have you as my champion, I'll just be my own champion and crawl up the ranks as a mortal realm being, and leave you alone."
He thought about it for five minutes. He'd go his way to experiment with the new world and leave Becca to her objectives, there's no loss there, no more war.
Hyera looked at him trying to not show any emotion. What she said is true, they'd part ways, and to each his own, but there was a reason she wanted to come to this world and that was because this world was being eyed by other civilizations. And she'll use that to raise her strength, but what'll he do when he found himself attached to this place with numerous enemies?
"Alright, I'll agree to it, on the condition that you tell me the truth." his piercing eyes shook her inwardly.
But she composed herself, 'he must've noticed my stiffness...well I'll tell you a truth, but not the one you want.'
"I did not plant that chubby thief guy you talked about. I was running through space when a sudden vision of you and the story of your life transmitted directly into my mind, and when I come to be, you were in front of me."
Malevolence and evil intent spread on his dantian, his golden eyes were lake calm lakes, portraying calm, vicious rage.
"Ekadu, was that you then? Hadn't you finished toying with me?" He thought aloud.
Hearing the name, Hyera barely manage to hide the shock 'So it's because of him that Lazaro became like that?'
The malevolence dissipated like nothing and Lazaro laughed. "Rebecca, we have a deal."
*****
He opened his eyes to the same clear brown eyes and curly auburn hair from before. The strong sun crossed through the tree leaves and shined on her freckles, one more time he was entranced.
"This can only be hell." He uttered.
Her eyebrow twitched but this time, her smile remained smooth.
He laughed inwardly.
"Maybe I should shorten your thing..." Larissa said softly
A chill spread through his spine. "I-I'm Lazaro of superbia, I can afford to lose s-some of it, n-not all, though."
"He~.." She chuckled.
His body felt lighter and his senses came back to normal, he took in his surroundings through hearing and smell.
"People got quite scared huh."
Larissa looked as most of the people were seated a good five meters away from her area.
"You did kill two men and appeared with a mouth and neck full of blood. People think you mauled them to death."
"Only one was like that though." He mumbled and she stiffened.
Her nerves tightened, seeing his eyes darting around the surroundings, Larissa slowly loosened herself and put on the same polite smile.
Whoever this man is, he, although unwittingly, saved her and relieved the group of the oppressors, but to kill people so casually was a line few people had even thought of crossing.
When he fell unconscious, the only one to help him was Lucas, nobody else, but as the instincts from the way she lived her whole life did not disappear, she took the risk and stepped up to treat the man in rags on her lap.
As terrifying as his actions were, and as menacing as he looked, the guy might be the only one able to help in their situation.
Lazaro sat up. Larissa kept her hands on his back as he looked people, face by face.
'A fifty-year-old man with a timid teen girl, A restless young-woman with symptoms of narcotics withdrawn, the lung diseased boar, a young man with long silver hair, but as thin as Lazaro himself, a short effeminated late teen who looked like a girl and Larissa. There was no more.
He sighed.
"How the hell did it come to this?" He asked.
Larissa laughed.
"We were in the official opening of the HUF Academy when meteors came crashing down. Some of the small ones destroyed the teleport portals, tears in space spread, some died, but we were somehow just sent away. It was a miracle, really. But the forest is dangerous, some people debated whether to go to the academy or wait for help."
Larissa put on a mocking smile. "But there was no choice for us, they formed teams between themselves and us, leftovers, formed a team among ourselves."
He nodded, but didn't point out the flaw in her story, she's a healer, a good one at that. Why leave her behind? He also looked at the old man with the teen girl, he was too poised and the way he carried himself showed that he was of high status, why did he stay behind?
"When did you people separated?"
"The meteor shower happened around three hours ago, so they're ahead by two hours."
"Those two guys I've killed, why did they stay?"
"They are scum, maybe they wanted the feeling of being the biggest fish in the bucket with the guns." She answered after looking elsewhere.
Lazara couldn't see it but he felt her hair moving.
"Scums are nasty but not dumb enough to risk suicide. They were forced to stay behind. I don't need to know how or why, I just need to know if there's more like them out there to put my group in risk."
'His group?' She thought before answering.
"There's the leader of their security guard group and two more."
Lazaro looked at the old man and understood. "I'm guessing that old man is a target for them too?"
She was surprised at his sharpness, not only he deduced the old man situation, he used the word 'too' which showed he already assumed she was their main target.
"Yes." She answered as if she didn't understand anything.
A thought suddenly came to his mind. "If he couldn't be in one group, why didn't he went for another? You said you separated in teams."
Remembering the horrendous scene, she composed herself.
"We separated into the team to wait and into the team to go, a meteor reached us who stayed, and killed most of us, we, who were slightly far away survived and moved to avoid beasts that'd come for the smell of blood."
Lazaro sighed yet again. 'So, I'm left not only with the bad but with the bad whose first instinct is to stay still and hope a savior comes...'
He eyed the boar and felt the warmth of the healing hands in his back. 'Well, others might not pull it off, but I'm Lazaro of superbia.'
(You're the weakest of them, though.)
'Becca, be a good girl.'
(I"m Hyera of chaos!)
Lazaro ignored Hyera's rants and asked his last important questions.
"How did you imported the knowledge of languages to me? And how did you enter my head and asked if I'd accept? are you a telepath too?
For those two questions, Larissa had only one answer. But first she though unceasingly if he was kidding, 'Does he really don't know about it? But most of the universe does, how is it possible?' But she kept her thoughts to herself.
"The Universal market." She said."Language packages are free for natives of their world. I bought it and gifted to you."
'This raises more questions...'
'Leave it for later,' Lazaro said and stood up, to everyone's awareness.
Their eyes locked on him, and since nobody was crazy enough to wastewater on his face, the blood was still dry on his face. He looked hideous.
Yet, he smiled good-naturedly.
"Hello, I'm Lazaro of superbia."
