After the incident where Clyde accidentally knew where his brother's library and laboratory was, he went there usually with his grandpa and brother's permission.
Now, that was Clyde's new favorite thing to do. For months, he did it everyday, reading all kind of books that could be found in the library. Tons of knowledge and information about the world of Pokèmon and Pokèmon themselves; and their habitat.
By reading his mom, dad, sister, brother and grandpa's books, he got to discover each of their own professions. Firstly, his mom was a Pokèmon researcher, but focuses more on their Pokèmon types and evolutionary pathway. His dad is also a Pokèmon researcher, but he focuses more on their habitats, hobbies, likes and dislikes. On another hand, his sister was a Pokèmon breeder, wherein she focuses on learning about different kinds of recipes for the PokèFood of each kind of pokemon, and on how to rid of their stress through massages; how to alleviate pain from sicknesses and poisons in the wild. Another is his brother, which is also a Pokèmon researcher, but he focuses more on the technological side, in which he aims to provide convenience for every Pokèmon trainer in the whole wide world. Lastly, his grandpa, he may not look like it, but he was also a Pokèmon breeder; during his youth, he focused on the different ways of raising Pokèmon depending on their type and characteristics.
Everyone in his family has certain achievements in each of their own professions, which made him feel more pressure, but at the same time, more eagerness in seeking and learning new things from his family. Due to this, he made a certain routine in learning different knowledge pertaining to the world of Pokèmon. 6 days of the week, he considered them as learning days and 1 day he considered as resting and testing period for what he has learnt. His schedule consists of 6 parts: reading books, video calls with his mom for Pokèmon types and evolutionary lessons and dad for Pokèmon background lessons, Pokèmon devices lessons with his brother, PokèFood, antidotes, & massage lessons with his sister and Pokèmon raising lessons with his grandpa.
At first, his parents were rejecting the way Clyde wants to live his childhood, but every time they see Clyde smile every time he learns something new, they just couldn't take that away from their precious baby.
Time passes by, days turned into weeks, weeks turned into months, Months then became years. As time flashes by, Clyde learned a lot of things due to the lessons conducted by his family.
By now, Clyde is a 9 year old; and a month from now, it would be his 10th birthday. Spending the past 8 years of his life learning about Pokèmon did not tire him out, but he became more excited about the things regarding them.
When a person becomes a 10 year old, he becomes eligible to pick his first starter Pokèmon. In the Kanto Region, the starter trio are the following: the Lizard Pokèmon, Charmander, the Turtle Pokèmon, Squirtle and the Seed Pokèmon, Bulbasaur. They correspond to the Fire, Water and Grass types starter Pokèmons of the Kanto Region.
Now, Clyde is thinking about which starter Pokèmon to get. Each Pokèmon has their own advantages, but Clyde is still struggling on what Pokèmon to get. Now that it is nearing his birthday, he feels pressured to already pick his first Pokèmon and prepare the foods, the training plan and whatnots of a Pokèmon trainer.
Too preoccupied with all the knowledge and stuff regarding Pokèmons, Clyde even forgot about the PokèMorph system which he was supposed to think about; based on what he said on his first birthday. He suddenly felt that he is forgetting something very important and thought to himself "Hmmm... Why do I seem to forget something major? Nahh maybe it's just me overthinking again". Again, Clyde did not remember the PokèMorph system, but it would come about again in another time. For now, let Clyde focus on his first Pokèmon.
As Clyde was thinking deeply, a warm and gentle voice suggested an idea.
"Clyde, since you've been having a hard time thinking about your first Pokèmon, why don't you just incubate a Pokèmon egg? It is said that the connection between a trainer and a Pokèmon depends on their bond, in a Pokèmon hatched from an egg's case, you are treated as parent. Don't you think so?" Sarah suggested seriously.
"Yeah, what your sister said is also a good choice. You may not pick the three starter Pokèmon but the bond is much more deeper" Bill continued.
'Hmmm, incubating an egg seems a good choice too. But not knowing the Pokèmon is still quite the risk' Clyde thought.
"I'll think about it first, but thank you guys for suggesting! I really appreciate it" Clyde thanked his siblings.
"Don't sweat it, anything you need, we will help you out. Because you are our..." Sarah prolonged as she duets with Bill and shouted "our baby brother!"
"I told you I'm not a baby anymore" Clyde rebutted.
"I told you I'm not a baby anymore" Bill mockingly repeated.
Clyde glared at his brother as he walked out of the room. He went out as he hears the loud laughter of both his sister and brother. Going back to his bedroom from the living room took just a few seconds. His room looked neat but was crowded with books. Books which were all around the place. Shelves, table, bed and even the floor! As Clyde tried to maneuver his way to his bed, he kept thinking about his first Pokèmon.
'Oh well, it's late, I'll just think about it again in another day. For now, I need to sleep because I still have lessons tomorrow'. Clyde last thought before he went into the dreamland.
A month passed since then, and today is exactly what you think it is. Clyde's tenth birthday! So now, the family took a trip, from north of Cerulean City up to the main city. His parents took a day off from work while his grandpa and siblings handles their own schedules. Currently, they are passing through the woods that are between the Cape of their light tower and the Cerulean City. After 2 hours of road travel, they decided to stop and rest for a while.
Bill and David went to fetch some dry wood saplings to make a campfire, while Grandpa Michael with Sarah and Grace prepared the ingredients to cook for lunch. Where is Clyde? He's the one setting up their belongings on a tent as he believes so.
"Arghhh, why is it so hard to do this?" Clyde loudly grumbled.
"You're just too impatient, here let me show you how to do it easier" then Grandpa Michael performed the pitching of a tent smoothly.
"The key here is coordination and patience. A house was not built on a pile of rocks. It was built layer by layer from steady bricks". Grandpa Michael said solemnly.
"Eh... Grandpa, a tent is made from cloth and steel wires, not rocks" Clyde rebutted.
His reply made his Grandpa speechless.
"... Oh dear child, just have more patience will you? And besides, that's not the point. The point is that --" Grandpa Michael stopped as he suddenly hears someone shouting.
".... Run!"
Clyde looked at where the voice was coming from, he could see his Dad and brother running hastily away from what seems to be a...swarm?
"Is that a swarm of Beedrils?" Clyde nervously asked.
"Now is not the time for questions! Grab your stuff and run! Follow your mom and sister, I'll be following right back." Grandpa solemnly stated.
Clyde rushed to get his things and he saw that his mom and sister's things were already gone. He saw his Grandpa get the things of his dad and brother then ran into the opposite direction of the swarm of Beedrils. Clyde amazingly stared at the swarm with eyes wide open.
It's not that he just saw a Pokèmon today, he even saw plenty of them already! Their types, habitats, favorite hobbies and food. He just feels so small in the face of Pokèmon nature. Watching at television about the swarm of Beedrils may look funny, but in reality, it is quite scary. Imagine a horde of bees, flying towards you, but their size is just a few inches larger than a human being. Imagine the dread that you would be feeling, Clyde currently feels all that.
As Clyde stares at the swarm, his Dad and brother is now near him. He could now see their figures as sweat flows down through their faces.
"Clyde! Don't just stare there, Run!" His Dad exclaimed.
Snapping back to reality, Clyde ran real fast as his father's reminder hit him. Everything was a blurr after that, Clyde may be getting farther form the Beedrils but he did not seem to notice that he is entering the depths of the forest. After a while, Clyde stopped running as he did no longer feel the flapping of wings behind him. Looking back, all Clyde saw was woods. Everything and nothing but just woods.
"Where am I?" Clyde wondered. It seems that due to his fight or flight response, he forgot to follow his mom and sister as he runs away from the flock. Being an actual 18 year old in mind, +10 years of being in the Pokèmon world results in a mind with an age of 28 years old but with a physique of a 10 year old, Clyde did not feel panic right now, just extreme tiredness and sleepiness. Taking care of his health, growth and body may make him look ahead with his peers, but he still has a body of a kid with a limited endurance.
Suddenly, Clyde felt a sharp pain in his head that made him frown. He suddenly kneeled due to the sudden pain that he felt, he tried to get up but he ended up going down again. The pain then got sharper until he ended up curling on the ground. His eye sight were in a blurr, seeing multiple trees in his vision undergoing mitosis. Before he passed out, the last thing he noticed was that he heard a mechanical voice speaking....
"Initiating bind with the host...."
