Crazy Battle Streak

For the next three days, Clyde went crazy. Well, in a certain aspect, he's already crazy, but that's not the point. He went on a rampage and battled everyone he can for the next three days.

3 and a half days ago.

The black canvas called sky, was decorated with splendid gems that shone all throughout the night, which served as light amidst the darkness.

Clyde here is staring at the splendid stars in his sight. He always liked the stars, it inspires him, because no matter how far the distance a star is from us, distance was never a hindrance for it to show us its warmth and brilliance every night. Even there are times you can't see them, you just know they're there.

After a whole day of training, Clyde was drained of energy, but he was happy. Glad because he got a lot of gains today. He felt the subtle improvements in his energy manipulation, which is a good sign for him. This means that he's, atleast, going on the right direction.

The next day, Clyde woke up earlier than he usually did. He got his breakfast from the Butterfrees after saying a thank you, and immediately went to warm up, right after eating. The sun just rose, and was not yet at its highest peak. After an hour of warming up, Clyde finally went to battle all Pokèmons that he can.

Of course, Clyde asked the Butterfrees if he could pack food that lasts for 3 days, and they agreed right away. Getting his food in a satchel that was made of leaves made Clyde astounded. 'Never thought that they could be this creative. It seems that I've underestimated the capabilities of Pokèmon to develop in the wild. Makes sense, since constant improvement and passage of wisdom led Humanity into greatness that we have now, why not Pokèmons?' Clyde thought to himself.

And he was right. Humanity just progress faster than the rest because of their ingenuity and wisdom, but that doesn't mean that other species did not develop. Much other than the Pokèmons, who lived and thrived in any place.

'Makes you feel wonder how was the Pokèmon world before the Pokèmon Alliance was established huh? Maybe I would have the opportunity to see it in one of my missions, only if I got the chance.' Clyde entertained himself with an interesting thought.

Clyde defeated Pokèmons on the way, they differ from species to species, such as Oddish, Bellsprout, Weedle, Paras, and Venonat. But he mostly encounters Pidgey and Spearow more often since they often hunt Caterpies as prey. Based on Clyde's speculation, both of their territory is near here, considering the quantity of the said Pokèmons, but Clyde doesn't know how near it is.

Going farther from Butterfrees' Territory, the level of the Pokèmon went higher and higher. Approximately, from every kilometer Clyde has went, their level ranges went but by 1. For example, for the first kilometer, the Pokèmons' level ranged from level 3-4, but after another kilometer, their level ranged from 4-5.

It's certainly interesting on how survival of the fittest are applied in the wild, Clyde was very fascinated. The Pokèmon world may look like glitters and diamonds on the outside, however, it may not look that bright within. Well, that's the harsh reality. As they say, you only see what you want to see, but in this case, you only see what they want you to see.

Staying here for already 4 days, Clyde was still not used with the harsh reality of Pokèmon in the wild. But what can he do, he justs have to do his best in order to gain more rewards for himself, in order to be a better and stronger Pokèmon Trainer in the future. Who didn't want to be? For Clyde, his one childish dream in his childhood was to be a Pokèmon Trainer. Now he has that chance, who wouldn't want to cherish that opportunity? That's what drives Clyde's motivation in accomplishing his mission.

By now, Clyde has already defeated around dozens Pokèmons already. It could be more, but he lost track of it already. Nevertheless, it could be seen from his level that he certainly got stronger. Clyde leveled up just after 5 hours of travelling. Now, Clyde is level 13, and is 8 levels away from his First PokèGoal.

His progress could be considered fast, but if you consider his diligent practice and recent combat harvests, it may not look that exaggerated. Being alone, Clyde let go of any worries and burden, and just set himself free. He went into a battle frenzy mode, directly competing with any Pokèmon that dares to approach his sight. Of course, Clyde still knows his limits, he never dared to take away a life of a Pokèmon. He makes them faint, asleep, or exhausted, but not dead.

Pokèmons bodies are tough, and could recover by themselves from minor injuries, after a certain period of time. For the major injuries, that's where berries in the wild comes in. They use certain berries in order to alleviate their suffering. A crude way of use, but it certainly does work its charm somehow.

Currently, Clyde is already 6 kilometers away from Butterfrees territory. He's meeting Pokèmons with levels ranging from 8-9, but starting from earlier, he only saw talents of 1-2 stars. There are 3 stars, however you could only count them in your hands. 4 stars are never seen, what more of higher stars. 'Caterpie is certainly an anomaly, maybe him being a shiny Pokèmon affected his talent somehow Now that's an interesting research' Clyde thought.

Speaking of Caterpie, he's now recovering well, and is now mostly rid of his minor injuries. There are still bruises, so Clyde recommended Caterpie to rest for the next 3 days, and to just practice by his own. Caterpie knows that it's all for his own interest, but he feels sad knowing he could not joining Clyde's battle escapades. In order to not let his friend down, Clyde made a promise of letting him go with him, as soon as he recovers. Boosted by his friend's promise, Caterpie earnestly said that he would diligently practice until he completely recovers.

As the sun is at its highest peak, Clyde here is now taking a break under the shade of a small tree. Eating the solidified honey, which was his favorite snack at Butterfrees' Territory, just made his day. Feeling the sugary and sour taste of honey just made Clyde feel more hungry. Lucky for him, a Newbie Pokèmon does not have to each so much. Besides those heavy eaters, most Pokèmons' appetite are proportional to their age.

After having his break, Clyde travelled for another 2 kilometers before stopping. This zone has Pokèmons ranging from level 10-11, an excellent spot to grind levels and practicing his combat skills. Clyde battled for the whole day, with rests in between, until dusk came. Clyde finally stopped and found a small tree with a big shade. He floated up to its branch, and laid himself to rest. Clyde had a lot of gains today, from the originally level 11, Clyde is now level 15, after a whole day of battle.

He decided to eat his dinner, then digest all his harvests for today and practice for until it's time to go to sleep. Right as the moon appeared, which its subtle light encroaching the world, Clyde finally finished his practice and sat down. Looking at the stars, he had a peace of mind in the midst of silence. Satisfied with his gains, after saying goodnight to Morpheus, Clyde fell asleep under the blanket of stars.

For the next 2 days, Clyde went further and travelled 3 kilometers each day. With the last day coming, Clyde was already in the zone of level 16-17 Pokèmons. In the frenzy of battle, Clyde leveled up to 18 in the second day. Even though Clyde's progression looked fast, it is certainly lacking for him to complete the first mission. As you know, the higher the level, the longer it is to level up. And based from first day's 5 level ups, and second day's 3 level ups, you could see that Clyde's missing 3 levels could not be fulfilled today.

Checking the time, it was already around 1 in the afternoon. Clyde then asked Morpheus to how much time he has remaining.

"Morph, please show me the Quest Branch."

"Sure. Initiating branch.... Data displayed."

> Quest

First PokèGoal: Be an adept.

Second PokèGoal: Evolve into a Gallade.

Third PokèGoal: Learn the move Psycho Cut.

*Mission Time Limit: 7 Weeks

*Time Left: 6 weeks: 0 days: 22 hours: 51 minutes: 29 seconds.

"It looks like I may not have to sleep today. I only have around 23 hours remaining, roughly a day, and I still need to level up from 18 to 21." Clyde said to himself.

In order to try and catch up to the S- rating, Clyde travelled another 2 kilometers and risked facing those Pokèmons at the same level as him. The battles went longer and was more tiring, but the rewards were more rewarding. By the next day, Clyde again travelled another 2 kilometers, advancing 1 kilometer every time he levels up.

Now, it was already noon, and looking at the time, he only has an hour left. Either there's a miracle, there's no way for him to accomplish the mission at time for the S-rating. 'What can I do? It seems that it's really not meant for me to get an S-rating for the first try. Well, A-rating seems good too, just one level below. I think I'll settle with that.' As Clyde was thinking, Morpheus suddenly interjected a crazy but possible idea.

"You are stupid, aren't you? Don't you forget your first life-threatening battle?" Morpheus asked with scorn.

"Huh? What do you mean? Is it that battle with Pidgey?" Clyde asked with hesitation.

"Of course! After that, you never tried to challenge your limits, and only challenged either those below or the same of your level. Didn't you remember that you upgraded one level directly when you defeated Pidgey who was 3 levels above you? Why don't you try it again?"

"But that was at Newbie boundary, if I battled someone with 3 levels higher than me, then that's already an Adept Pokèmon! Level 23 is not a joke for a level 20 like me."

"Then what use is your training then? Didn't your practice bring any improvement to you? Or maybe none at all?"

"You makes sense Morph, maybe I should try it, don't you think?"

"Um, I think you won't have the time to think."

"And why is that? Morph? Morph!"

Just as Clyde was demanding an answer from Morpheus, he hears the sounds of flapping nearby.

As he focuses his vision, he saw a flying Pokèmon approaching him.

It is a large, mostly brown avian Pokémon with a vulturine neck and broad, powerful wings. It has a long, pointed, pink beak and a decorative red coxcomb on top of its head. Its narrow eyes have very small pupils and do not appear to have colored irises. It has shaggy, feathers at the base of its neck and covering the upper portion of its wings. These feathers are cream-colored, as are the tips of its flight feathers. Its sharp-clawed talons are pink, with three toes pointing forward and one pointing backward. It was the Beak Pokèmon, Fearow!

"A Fearow? How did it get attracted here? Did I do something?" Clyde confusingly asked himself.

"Are you dumb? Or plain stupid? Look around you, and then ask yourself why its here." Morpheus mocked his stupidly but smart host.

Looking around, Clyde saw different Pokèmons fainted on the ground, but most of them were Spearows. Saying most, It means the most of them, around 60% of the Pokèmon on the ground were Spearows.

"Oh, I think I know now? Hehehehehe....." Clyde stated while scratching his head.

He was so lost in the battle, not noticing that majority of those he was fighting was Spearows. Going too deep in the forest, Clyde unintentionally went to the territory of the Spearows. Well, too late for regrets, Clyde just faced a Fearow without the look of hesitation. It already happened, there's no point in crying over spoilt milk.

"Morph, Scan Fearow."
