Day 46

When I enter Kyle's room, Abraham and a little boy is sitting near Kyle's bed. The little boy looks exactly like Abraham except he's not wearing gothic make up or completely dressed in black.

"Hello," I said cheerfully as I close Kyle's door upon entering.

Of course, I realize there's not an extra seat for me to late. Since before I sat down on nothing, Kyle pulled me towards him and I sat on the edge of his hospital bed. "Oh, uh...thank you?"

Kyle leaned in and whispered in my ear, "I expect to be repaid in kisses later." I whacked his arm after he said that causing the kid to gasp.

"You're not supposed to whack a corpse," said the little kid. My body went completely still at the kid's words.

"A what?" I asked dumbly while Abraham put a hand to his head.

"A corpse, a dead body," replied the kid.

Abraham patted the kid's shoulder as he said, "I told you my friend isn't a corpse yet, lil' bro."

"I have a name," said Abraham's little brother through gritted teeth.

"What's your name?" I asked him as I handed Kyle his birthday card. It didn't escape my mind that Kyle still had his arm around my waist.

Abraham's little brother placed his hand over his heart as he said, "My name is Maximilian."

"Nice to meet you Maximilian," I said as I stuck out my hand for his to shake. Maximilian was shocked but quickly got over it as he shook my hand. "My name is Renata."

"Nice to meet you too," said Maximilian as he stood up from his chair. "You can take my seat if you want, Renata. I can sit near the corpse."

Abraham groaned while Kyle had an annoyed look on his face. Still, I unwrapped Kyle's arm from my waist, even though I didn't want to. "Sure, you can sit near the corpse. He's not zombified yet so he won't eat you," I added.

"I only eat girls," Kyle answered. Abraham cleared his throat as his eyes widened while Maximilian just stared at Kyle for a moment before sitting down.

"Sounds like a good plan. Girls do have more natural fat then boys do," said Maximilian.

Abraham leaned towards me as he whispered, "I've become the designated sitter for him today."

I whispered back, "I'd like to know how he knows the word corpse."

"He's a genius, but don't tell him I said that," Abraham quickly added before Kyle cleared his throat.

"Let's see what the card for my 46th birthday says..."

"You're 46 years old?!" said Maximilian.

Abraham gave Kyle a warning look. Which Kyle decided to completely ignore. "I'm forty-six but I died when I was eighteen. That's why I look so fuckable."

"Doesn't fuck mean..."

"Why don't you read the card, Kyle," said Abraham as he ignored what was to be an awkward question from Maximilian.

"Fine," Kyle grumbled as he opened the card. "Your wife becomes very ill and is hospitalized because of the flu. You leave your wife a vase of flowers at her bedside and eat in the hospital cafeteria with Persephone and Harley on your birthday."

Maximilian looks up at Kyle as he asked, "Who are Persephone and Harley?"

"Persephone is my daughter and Harley is my hermaphrodite child," Kyle replied matter of factly.

"Cool," Maximilian replied. Then, he pointed at me and asked, "Is she your wife? And how did you fuck her and have children after you died at eighteen. Wouldn't your sperm have shriveled up as well?"

Abraham snorted water out of his nose and was coughing like crazy while I whacked his back a few times.

"How do you know about sperm?" asked Kyle in awe.

"I read; how do you NOT know about sperm," said Maximilian.

When Abraham was finally able to get his breathing back he said, "Remember what mom and dad told you about saying the truths all at once?"

Maximilian mumbled as he looked down at his hands, "That it's not always the best option."

"And?" Abraham interjected.

Maximilian sighed before looking up at Kyle again as he said, "I'm sorry. What I said was uncalled for."

"No worries?" replied Kyle. "You have very interesting questions but some stuff is better left as a mystery, Maximilian," Kyle replied.
