Chapter 6. Pain.
Ace wakes up to his alarm, he hits it turning it off and breaking it in the process, wipes his face and grabs his phone, looks at it, it says "9:00am" he sighs. Gets up, and dressed in his nice black jeans, a black short sleeve shirt and goes to the mall.
When he arrives.
Walks over to the front desk of Hot Topic.
He asks "Can I apply here?"
The rather pretty blonde haired woman at the desk replies "Yes you can! Here you go" with a smile, as she slides him an application paper and pin, he fills it out.
He says "Thank you!"
She replies "You're very much welcome, see you soon! Have a good day!" With a smile
He says ",You too!"
He walks out. He goes into the bathroom, looks at himself in the mirror, splashes his face with water and punches the counter denting it.
He goes home.
Calls Shawn
Shawn picks up and says"Hey Ace! How have you been man? Been a few huh?"
Ace replies "Hey man, I'm okay I think, it has. Hey so can you come over innn 10?"
He says "Yeah sure? What's up?"
Ace replies "Girl trouble"
He replies "Ah, alright be right over."
He hangs up. Ace sighes. He sits on his bed.
Shawn pulls up 10 mins later.
Ace let's him in and they go into Ace's room.
Shawn says "What happened?"
Ace replies as he sighes "Sonia left me last night, she's done with me. I didn't even do anything either, like I've been nothing but good to her and this is how she treats me!"
Shawn says "Why she leave tho? Like where'd she go? Makes no sense, you guys were good just yesterday, okay did you notice anything weird or off about her lately?"
He replies "idk! She just left, she didn't even say sorry or bye just gone! Well..I mean, her parents, friends, and all blew up about 1 month ago, on her planet, her brother just died, her other brother who she thought died twice is here alive killing people because he's crazy, her best friends she grew up are being killed off, and I killed one of them.. It's really complicated and I don't have time to get into it."
"Wow, well that explains it. She's probably going to kill whoever is killing her friends and whoever else gets in her way."
Sonia sits on her new bed, she looks at a picture of her old gang of friends, tears fall.
She says "Don't worry Danas, or Romias, I'll kill him for this, I promise! I won't let anyone else die"
She wipes her tears, puts it down, stands up, grabs her new mask and looks at it for a moment, puts it on, and the rest of her suit.
She flies off the balcony.
Ace says "Idk, it just isn't even her anymore. She hasn't been normal sense we got here."
Shawn says "Alright, let's great some ice cream and we can talk."
He nods, and they go get in Shawn's car and they drive to Braum's.
Inside, Ace orders Chocolate Chip ice cream and Shawn orders Cookie Monster.
They sit down.
Shawn says "Alright now continue."
Sonia see Shawn's car at Braum's, she looks in the window and sees Ace eating ice cream with tears in his eyes as he's talking, she stares for a moment and Shawn sees her
Shawn says "They're some creepy chick in all black staring at you"
Ace says "What? Wait did you say black?" He looks and she's gone. She climbs up the building and stands on the roof. Ace runs outside to catch her, and he sees she's gone.
Shawn says "She's gone. Did you know her?"
He replies "Y-No-I-its not important."
Soni disappears.
She reappears on top of a building close by, in veiw of Braum's, she watches them get in car.
She sighs and jumps off the side of the building landing on the ground below it completely fine.
Woman yells "Hey! My purse!" As a man runs off with her purse, she sees this and uses her super speed, runs in front of him stopping him and says "I'll take that" as she grabs it from him, he tries to turn around and run but Sonia catches him, and snaps him neck in a second, the woman screams, she throws the woman her purse, and the woman runs off.
Sonia says "You're welcome" and vanishes into thick black smoke.
Ace and Shawn gets back to Aces apartment, they walk in, sit on the couch, Shawn turns on the TV.
The woman on the TV says "Yet another murder this morning, this is the 8th victim that we know of, in each case the witnesses say the same thing, they've described a short woman, with short black and red hair, and wearing all black, she also has been said by using extreme force in each cases, she's possibly armed and very dangerous, we seem to believe the victims were Criminals, do we have a vigilante here in New York or just a plan murderer? In either case lock your doors, stay safe out there."
Ace clinches his fists in anger as she speaks, he gets angrier with every word till finally he gets up quickly in anger and yells "She's insane! I can't believe her! How could she!"
Shawn says "Woah, woah, calm down Ace, you know her?"
Ace replies "Don't you see Shawn!? That woman is Sonia, she's killing people now! I warned her not to go too far but no she can't listen to me! Shawn I have to stop her!"
Shawn says "Omg, are you sure? But she's dangerous."
Ace replies "I can handle it! I have to! Or more people will die!"
He quickly finds his laptop, searched for any sign of Sonia and near apartments, hotels, inns, etc but nothing.
Shawn says "Here let me." He finds her in a second "She's going but the name of Molly Stone"
Ace replies "Of course she is. Why didn't I think of that!"
Shawn says "Oh I just tapped into the police station, my Mom's a hacker remember?"
Ace looks at Sonia's profile "Short hair ay, well you're the same ool Sonia. She's on Sunshine road, in the apartment complex Rane, it's not too far from here"
Ace walks to the door, walks out, and goes to the car, gets in the driver's seat of Shawn's car, Shawn gets in and they drive off fast.
Sonia takes off her suit and mask, puts it in her closet when she hears someone knocking, she quickly grabs her robe and puts it on, walks over to the door and opens it, sees Ace and immediately tries to shut it, but he stops the door and barges in.
He says "Soni! Are you insane!? This isn't right! What's wrong with you!?"
Soni replies "What are you talking about!? I've never thought so clearly in my life, just leave me alone! I'm fine, I don't need you, or anyone!"
He replies "No you're not fine! You're killing people! What happened to you!?"
She says "How'd you- it doesn't matter, I'm sick of not being able to do anything, they're criminals Ace! What am I supposed to do!? Punch them a few times and call it good!? No! It does not! It helps no one! They don't change! No one changes!"
He replies "And you're better!? You're just like them! You're just like Jack!"
She replies "Don't ever compare him to me! Ever! I'm not like him, and I never will be!!"
Shawn yells "Enough! This isn't helping anyone, Ace she's obviously too stubborn and blind to change her mind, and Soni let me just ask why the Batman slippers?"
Soni says "Just leave!"
Ace replies "Fine!" He slams the door behind him, Shawn follows him.
She starts to cry when they're gone, she sighs and thinks "No this is the right thing to do! Just ignore him, I have to save my friends"
Shawn says "Wait up Ace!" As Ace is stomping down the hall fastly.
Ace says "No! I have an interview tomorrow! Take me home!"
Shawn takes him home
Ace gets home and gets his laptop and looks more into it. He gets more Coffee and sits in his room.
Sonia sits at her table on her laptop, looking at links to her friends.
She says "Wait, so what if Eve wasn't just working for Hades that maybe Hades was working for someone else. Maybe he/she has eyes everywhere."
She continues to think and search.
Ace looks at pictures of Soni and her friends, he falls asleep.
Finally Sonia falls asleep too.
Ace wakes up, and get dressed for his interview, he wears his black jeans, black leather jacket, and a tee shirt, he gets a Cup of Coffee and looks more at the photos, he finds a picture of Sonia with this rather huge, buff, guy with shoulder length red wavy hair, and a smrik on his face beside her. He sees pictures with him and the whole gang.
He says "Frits Hanson, No it can't be, he died. Hmm"
He keeps looking until he realized he has to go, he leaves for his interview.
Soni wakes up, gets a cup of Coffee, when someone calls her on her phone.
She picks up "Hello?" She says
The woman on the phone says "I can come over right?"
She replies "Yeah, sure."
The woman hangs up
Soni puts his phone on the counter, she drinks her Coffee, looks at apher laptop some more.
She continuously looks through photos of the gang, tears up a little.
She sees Frits and thinks "But he's dead, eh surely not." She keeps looking.
Ace walks in Hot Topic, he goes to the front desk, that same blonde woman was at the desk again.
He says "Hi, I'm here for my interview"
She nods and says "Right this way." With a smile as she leads him to a small office in the back where a man in a long black tee, skinny ripped jeans and a man bun and beard is sitting.
The man says as he points at the chair "Welcome, sit down sit down."
Ace sits down
He says "I'm Dan you're boss, now I'll ask you a few simple questions and we'll be done, plain and simple"
Ace nods and says "Yes Sir."
Dan replies "Call me Dan, and you're names Ace right?"
Ace says "Yes Si-Dan"
Dan says "Alright so do you like superheroes, or even know these things like Star Wars, Batman, Twenty One Pilots, Marvel etc basically anything nerdy or geeky, or even Emo."
Ace replies "Yes, I know all of those. Especially Batman."
Dan stands up and puts out his hand for a hand shake and says "Perfect you're hired! See you tomorrow Ace."
Ace stands up and shakes his hand and says "Thank you Sir! See you tomorrow"
He leaves
The woman at the desk asks "Did you get the job?"
Ace replies "Yep, surprisingly."
She says "Yay, I knew you would! My name's Karla and youre-"
Ace replies "Ace my names Ace. Nice to meet you. So I'll see you tomorrow then Karla."
Karla says "Nice to meet you too, yep see you tomorrow!"
Ace leaves, he teleports home.
Sonia hears a knock at the door
Soni sighs, walks over to the door, she opens it. Seeing a short, short dark purple haired girl, with glasses.
Soni says "Come on in I guess"
She walks in and sits down at the table, Soni gets her and the woman a cup of coffee and sits down beside her.
"How's Darren?" The woman says.
Soni replies "Oh he's okay, I guess. Eh idk. Idrc either."
"That's good, you don't want feelings for him, he's just your boyfriend." She says.
Soni says "Yeah, I know."
She replies "Good"
Soni says "So Candice, where's Rain?"
Candice replies "Idk, she said she had stuff to do or some crap. She doesn't go out much remember? She's worse then you are."
Soni says "Yeah, yeah, I know but I thought maybe I'd get to see her today."
She replies "Rains fine, don't let your feelings get the best of you again. Remember!"
Soni stands up and says angrily "I know! I know! 'Think about yourself Molly, do this or that' I mean I get you're my trainer and my guide but I've been doing this for a while I think I can handle it!"
Candice stands up quickly "No you can't! You're just like the rest, in need of guidance just like Rain just like Darren so DON'T! Talk smart to me! Try me again and see if I don't throw you out of the deal all together!"
Soni clinches her fist tightly and says "Fine!" She grabs her laptop and pulls up Frits Hanson "Frits Hanson, he was in the gang. But he's dead. That's all I've found so far." She says
Candice says calmly "Good. I'll keep my eyes open. Call Darren, he needs you to guide him now, Molly"
Soni nods.
Candice walks out.
Soni sighs and calls Darren.
He answers "Hey babe, why didn't you answer any of my texts or calls?"
Soni says "Darren gets dressed for training, be here in 10."
She hangs up.
Darren punches the wall making a hole.
He breathes and gets dressed.
"What would Frits have against Soni?" Ace says to himself, as he looks at pictures of Frits and Soni.
He drinks his Coffee, puts on his jacket, and teleports outside of Sonia's door.
Darren knocks on Soni's door, she let's him in. Seeing a fit 5'11, green and black haired guy with green eyes.
Soni says "You're late."
Darren replies "That's the first thing you have to say. Maybe I don't want to train!"
Soni says "Well get over it! You know I have to guide you it's my job!"
Darren says angrily "You're job!? You're not just my trainer! You're my girlfriend too Soni! When are you going to act like it!?"
Soni replies "No! Shut up and let me guide you!"
Ace knocks on the door.
Soni sighs amd opens it.
Ace barges in saying "Frits Hanson! Soni! He's dangerous! You need to be careful!", He then notices Darren.
Darren says "And who the heck are you?"
Soni says "Ace! I know, I know! But I'm kinda in the middle of something!"
Ace replies "Wow! Soni really!? Him!? Oh come on! Now you're just being stupid."
Darren says "Alright Ace is it? Enough of this bull crap, talk to her like that again and see what happens to your pretty boy face"
Ace replies "Aw is that a threat? That's so cute, poor little guy probably wouldn't have the guts."
Darren says as he gets in his face "Just watch me!"
Soni yells "Enough! Ace leave! Idc! I don't want you here! Leave me alone!"
Ace says "Fine!! But if he touches you if either of them touch you I will kill them both if I have to!!"
He slams the door behind him.
Darren says "Who the heck was that? Who does he think he is?"
Soni replies "It's fine! He's just a stupid ex."
Sonia and Darren train.
Ace gets home and gets back on his laptop, on the couch, he keeps looking at the pictures over and over, looking at it all.
He slowly falls asleep with his laptop still on Frits.
Echo walks into the room, she sees him asleep and covers him up, picks up the laptop accidentally seeing what was on it.
She sees Sonia posing as Molly Stone and Frits Hanson, and the picture of Sonia and Frits.
She thinks "What! Frits!? How does Sonia know Frits!? What has she gotten herself into?"
She puts it on the table and goes into her room and gets on her laptop. Also falling asleep a few hours later.
Sonia and Darren finish training, Darren leaves, she looks at the time and it says 12am and Sonia gets into her suit amd mask again.
She grabs her swords this time and vanishes.
She reappears on a building.
Seeing a veiw of the city she watches for crime.
"NO! OW PLEASE *cries* stop! Please!! I'm begging you!" A woman screams.
The Criminal kills her in a second.
Sonia teleports down to her, lefts her up by her shirt.
"She even begged. Shameful child" she puts her sword to her stomach.
She screams "Don't! I'm sorry!!! I don't want to die! Please!"
Soni says "Isn't that exactly what she just asked you but you didn't care did you, now you pay for your actions!" She stabs her killing her and a man sees it happen.
The man yells "Hey! Its you"
She vanishes.
Sonia gets home, takes off her suit and mask and gets out her laptop, she looks at her friends and links to them as much as she can.
Finally nshe falls asleep at 2am.
Ace wakes up, he gets dressed for work, grabs a cup of coffee, and teleports outside of the Mall.
He walks in and Karla was at the desk again but there was a guy there too, a pale dirty blonde, blue eyes and wore a lime green shirt and jeans. With a smirk on his face
Karla says "Hey Ace! So glad you're here!" She smiles
The guy says as he puts out his hand for a hand shake "Karla told me you'd be coming in today for your first day, congrats! I'm Stan, great to meet you Ace!"
Ace shakes his hand and says "Thanks! You too! So um do I check in or?"
Karla says "You just go into the Office Dan will tell you the rest. See you in a few Ace!"
Ace replies "Thanks Karla, yeah see ya! See ya Stan."
When Ace leaves Stan says to Karla as he nudges her"Does someone like Ace?" With a smile
She replies "Shut up Stan!" She blushes and tries not to smile
He laughs.
Ace walks into the office and Dan says "Ace! Welcome to your first day you just check in on that computer"
After work Ace, Karla, and Stan all get a drink together.
They sit down and order their drinks as they're talking.
They leave with their drinks and start walking, when all of the sudden Frits appears in front of Ace.
Ace says "Guys get behind me! Now!" They get behind him.
Frits says "Well hello to you too Ace, been a while hasn't it?" With a smirk on his face
Ace replies "Why are you here!?"
Frits says "Oh you know same ol same ol, thought I'd stop by on the way to Sonia's"
Ace replies angrily "If you touch her I'll kill you!"
Frits laughs a little "Mhm. I'll see you later" he vanishes.
Ace says "Dang it!"
Stan says "Who was that?"
Karla says "Yeah and who's Sonia?"
Ace sighs "Sonia is my ex that was one of her friends, it's a bit complicated."
Karla says "Doesn't seem like a friend."
Ace says "He's a bit messed up. I'm really sorry but I gotta go, I'll catch you guys later."
He runs behind a building and vanishes.
Sonia, Candice and Darren are taliing in Sonia's kitchen.
"Candice if you don't do something about this then I'm done!" Darren says
Candice replies "Molly this is your problem not mine, you're his trainer figure it out!"
Candice leaves.
Frits appears in front of Sonia.
She gasps in surprise "Frits!? But you're dead?"
Frits replies "Sonia. You haven't changed one bit. Still as beautiful as ever."
He hugs her.
She hugs him back and says "Thanks Frits. Nor have you. I can't believe you're here."
Frits let's go, and says "It's been too long. Just saw ol Ace he seemed pretty angry."
Darren says "Molly who is this? Why'd he call you Soni? What's going on?"
Soni says "Don't ever talk about Ace again!"
Frits says "Oh did I hit a nerve"
Ace appears in between Frit and Sonia.
"Frits! I warned you!" Ace says angrily.
Frits says "Ah good of you to join us. Look at us all together again. Well beside new kid here." He whispers but Darren still hears "He won't last long"
Ace says "Frits! Leave her alone!"
Soni says "Ace! I'm fine! He isn't going to hurt me!"
Ace replies "No you aren't! Frits is dangerous! You shouldn't be around him!"
Frits says "Haha, better listen to her"
Ace puts his blade to Frits throat "If you touch her I will kill you! Understand!?"
Frits laughs and says "Good luck. Soni he's smart one he's a keeper."
He vanishes.
Soni says "Ace! What the crap!? Leave! Now! Just go! And this time don't come back! I don't need your help! I don't need your protection I'm fine! Just go!"
Ace vanishes as well.
Soni sighs.
Darren says "Are you going to tell me what just happened?"
Soni says "It doesn't matter, just an ol friend, and a stupid ex. It's not important."
Ace gets home, he slams the front door, then slams his bedroom door.
Echo hears him and goes to his door and knocks.
Ace yells "What!?"
Echo says "It's me, Echo. I just want to talk."
He sighs and hesitates for a moment and says "Fine!" He let's her in.
She says "Frits Hanson!"
Ace says "What?
She continues "Frits, what does Soni-what do you know about him?"
Ace replies "Better question: How do you know Frits?"
Echo says "He's my Uncle."
Ace is shocked, he says "I know he's a dangerous man, he's not dead either, he's alive, she shouldn't let him around her! He'll hurt her or worse kill her!"
Echo says "I know. How do they know each other?"
Ace replies "It's a bit complicated but, both of them were in a gang or group of friends but they called themselves a gang, Frits, Sonia and five others, recently she's lost three of them, Danas, Ramias, and now Gina no telling who's next, could be Rane next or even Sonia herself, not only is this happening she's also killing people, Criminals! She's nothing like the Sonia that saved my life when we met, nothing like the woman I love! She's changed! And dang it she won't listen to me! No matter how hard I try she just wants nothing to do with me! I'm so tired of this! I have to stop her!" She hears the rage and sadness in his voice.
Echo hugs him "I'll talk to her. She may listen to me. You can always talk to me and Lares anytime, I'm here for you. Okay?"
Ace asks "Are you "here for us" because of Damian!? Because you feel as if it were your job especially after his death, you feel obligated!? You may care now but did you really do this because you actually care!?"
Echo let's go amd says "I have Lares now, I was-am both of your friend because you both needed a friend when no one else was willing to offer, I do care, I cared then and I care now, if you haven't noticed I don't like talking about my feelings or feelings in general let alone hugging, you really think I'd do all this because I felt bad? Or missed Damian?"
Ace sighs and sits on his bed and puts his hands over his face and says "Sorry it's just-I'm having a really hard time right now. She left, now she's killing people, she won't listen to me, it's been a rough week." He sighs.
She puts her hand on his shoulder "It's alright, I understand. You both are going through a lot. I'll talk to her. I'll get our Sonia back, I promise."
The next morning.
Sonia wakes up, she gets out her laptop and, a cup of coffee, goes to the kitchen table and sits down.
She sips her morning coffee at 7am.
Ace wakes up and gets dressed, he knocks on Echos door.
Echo opens the door, wearing black leggings and a purple tee shirt.
He says "You ready?"
Echo replies "Yes" she then looks at Lares and says "I'll be right back. Don't forget to take Bruce for a walk."
Echo walks out and shuts the door behind her.
They get a cup of coffee and leave.
Sonia hears a knock on her door she sighs "Does everyone know where I live? You know I thought moving away they'd leave me alone." She says to herself.
She gets up and opens the door, she sees Echo amd is surprised.
Soni says "What-What are you doing here?"
Echo replies with a smile "I just want to talk."
Soni says "Fine." She sees Ace "Why'd you bring him? I told him to never come here again."
Echo says "Trust me, you won't even notice he's there."
She let's them in.
"Fine but if he talks he has to leave." She says
Echo nods.
They sit down.
Echo says "I know you have been going through a lot. And I want you to know, you don't have to go through not alone. We're both here for you, if not him then I am. I know what's been happening. I know what you got yourself into."
Soni says "I know. But you can't help me, neither of you can. Everyone who loves me gets hurt or killed, and I don't want that to happen to you. Either of you. This. All of this, is all my fault, I know it is, and I own it completely. Damian died because of me, I almost killed Jack, I hurt Ace, I didn't stop Hera, Olympa still blew up, Danas died because of me, Frits died because of me, I killed Ramias, Gina died because of me, and now the rest of them will too, then I'll be next. No one understands, I kill because I want them to feel my pain, I want the violence to stop, I'm tried of seeing blood on my hands. No matter how hard I try I still fail so its the best for the both of you to leave me alone, forget about me, let me die, or you'll get hurt or worse die trying and I'm not willing to let you give that sacrifice."
Echo says "Sonia, it wasn't your fault. You didn't kill Damian, you can't save everyone. I know it seems like everyone you touch is dying nut you're not the one deciding to kill them. Killing criminals isn't solving anything, you're becoming like them, killing is still a crime no matter your good intentions. I know you hate the feeling of being useless, not being able to stop them from dying but it wasn't your fault. You're only responsible for your own actions not someone else bad decisions. I won't leave idc if I die as long as I'm with you knowing that you're okay, then it's well worth the sacrifice. Sonia we love you, otherwise we wouldn't be here."
Soni says "I'm sorry Echo, I know you're trying to help but I don't deserve your love, no one else deserves the blame, I do, I deserve the blame and I'd gladly take it. I love you too. But it doesn't matter. I just need some time. I need to be alone for awhile."
Echo nods in understanding and says "I understand. Don't forget I'm always here if you need me."
She hugs Soni and leaves, Ace follows behind her.
Ace says "See. She won't listen. So our best option right now is to stop Frits, is to save her friends. Maybe they'll talk sense into her."
