CHAPTER 30: GOODNIGHT WORLD

When i got to you, you had already lost a lot of blood and your skin was slightly pale. You were still very agile though, you were pressing a hand on your injury to stop the bleeding but before we could even talk to each other, there was suddenly a city wide blackout and people were shooting at us from all directions. I could not reach my team because the EMP Device had scrambled all communication lines. We had to hightail it out of there or we were going to become puddles of blood ourselves.

As we ran it seemed that you had not known about the EMP device, so you kept trying to contact your team mates.

You kept saying Birdseye its phoenix, Come in. I told you about the EMP but you ignored me and kept talking into your communication device. You kept saying you were phoenix and asking if everyone was okay. That was how i knew you were phoenix.

Before we could get to where we wanted to hide, you passed out and i had to carry you into a cabin i had found in the thick forest to hide. You were out for about 14 hours and i was with you the whole time. When you woke up, we didn't mention anything about the fight or ourselves. We just stayed together for the next three days, and i guess we forgot to even introduce ourselves.

On the third day, when communications were back online, i had headed to the city to try and contact my group but by the time i came back, you were gone and you removed every trace of you from the cabin. I looked for you everywhere but i could not find you no matter how much i tried. Whether you believe it or not, those three days i spent with you were the best three days of my life. He said.

By the time Jason finished telling the story, Ru lan could not control herself anymore. She flung herself on Jason and was crying her heart out. I thought you left, my brother had sent a team to pick me up so i could not wait to say goodbye. I looked for you in the city too and when i couldn't find you, i left. She said in between sobs.

Jason rubbed her back and petted her hair.

After she calmed down she brought herself out of his embrace and stared at him with eyes that had gotten swollen from weeping.

Jason felt bad when he saw her like that so he decided to lighten up the mood a little. He move a few feet from her and said, i guess no one is going to die now.

Yeah! No one is going to die. Except you want to kill me of course, but i doubt you would be able to take me on. She said and smiled.

Suddenly everything felt right with the world and she was happy she didn't have to take out another boyfriend of hers.

Of course not. Jason said. after all i just found you after so long, and i almost died and its just the first day.

I'm really sorry! I thought you were the enemy. She said and apologized to him

Well! Thats easy for you to say. You are not the one whose girlfriend almost shot to death before letting him get the thrill of been a boyfriend for even an hour. I almost got killed for nothing without having the opportunity to see my future kids or be a husband. He said.

I said i'm sorry okay... she said to him. She knew he was pretending to be hurt so she also pretended to pacify him.

They both sat down on the ground again and she said. Jason, who was the person that told you about K switch? She asked

I don't know either. I tried to find out but i couldn't find out anything about him he said.

If what you say is true, then that means there is somebody that knows about my identity as the phoenix out there and i don't know who he is. She said in deep contemplation.

I hate it the most when my enemies are in the dark and i'm in the open. She said again

Don't worry about it, we'll deal with it as it comes, Together. He said and pulled her closer to him. He hugged her shoulder and allowed her to rest her head on his shoulder.

How did you know it was me? I mean how did you know i'm phoenix? She asked again

I did spend three days with you, you know. He said

Still, i was wearing a disguise. She said.

Your eyes. You removed your contact lenses on the second day and when i looked at your eyes, they were so enchanting and the sight was embedded in my heart forever. It's rare to see people with such green eyes you know!

Yours are the first I'd ever seen He said. that's why i was so shocked to see you at the mall the other day.

So why didn't you find me. I told you my name for a reason.

I tried to find you but no matter how much i tried all i found was articles about the genius doctor of neurosurgery, everything else was hidden. It was like someone didn't want me to find you. He said.

Stupid mark (Birdseye), she cursed under her breath. I see. She said to Jason. I know who and i'm going to deal with him later. She said.

Achoo... mark sneezed in his home. My God who's cursing me so early at night? I haven't done anything wrong today he said.

We are dating now right? She asked Jason

Yes! We are dating now Daisy. He said to her.

They turned and were staring at each other. The night was still and the sky was filled with stars, and they were both together. Everything had just fallen into place.

We should go back to the city. It's getting pretty late and getting home will take a while she said. Jason didn't get up. It was as if he was not the one Ru Lan was talking to.

I'm sure you have work tomorrow, i don't want you to be late and i can't afford to let your assistant judge me wrongly now can i? Get up now Mr Li. She said

I hear you Miss Kelton he said with a smile.

My surname is Ru here. No one can know that i'm a Kelton she warned him.

Sure. Whatever you say, Miss Kelton he said.

She jabbed him lightly in the stomach with her elbow.

Ow ow... i guess she still wants to kill me after all. He said

Knock it off Jason. She said and they both headed toward the bike.

You have to admit that i'm pretty talented at acting right, should i give showbiz a shot? He asked her as he treaded playfully behind her.

Hmmm! Maybe you are, she said and turned to face him.

Even you think so right? I won't do it, i don't want to rob an innocent person of his chance to have a better life and job in showbiz. He said looking all serious.

Yeah! That's really true because i keep wondering where the mountain of ice everybody thinks you are suddenly disappeared to. She said sarcastically and smiled at him.

They climbed onto the motorbike and they were soon out of Daisy's Place. Daisy first took Jason home on her bike before going to her own home.

By the time she got home, it was already past 11 pm and she thought that everyone was asleep, so she just went up to her room and took her shower. She changed into her pyjamas and climbed unto her bed. She took her blueberry facemask and she was about to war it on her face when her phone rang. It was Jason who was calling.

They had exchanged numbers when she dropped Jason off earlier and he told her to call when she got home but she didn't call. He was worried about her.

Hello! She answered the call.

You home yet? Jason said from the other side.

Yeah. About an hour ago she said. why? She asked

You were supposed to call remember? He asked.

So sorry i totally forgot she said.

It's okay. That's why I'm here. I'll remember whenever you forget. He said.

They talked for a few more minutes. By the time the call ended, she could barely keep her eyes open. So she just forgot about the mask and threw it on the bedside table. She had a long day today. She was very tired. She lied down on the bed and drifted off to sleep with a sweet smile dancing on her lips. Goodnight world she said and dozed off.
