Chapter 69 : They both are engaged. (5)

Jane's initial sullen face looked bright with anger. She went to her room, changed her dress, taking her small backpack, she left the mansion.

The servants were puzzled. Maybe the Young Madam asked her to meet?

Rachel reached home after forty-minutes. The mansion was silent except for servants' chatter.

She quickly made her way inside and saw a servant cleaning the furniture.

"Where's Jane?"

"Young Miss didn't come to meet you?"

The servant frowned. They were happy when they saw Rachel but they understood, it was not the right time to be happy. How sad!

"She is not home?"

The servant shook her head and said that she left soon after ending the call.

Rachel looked horrified. She pulled her hair out in frustration. She took her phone out to call the stupid girl.

At least, Jane had the courtesy to answer the call.

"I asked you to do one job! 'Stay home!' How difficult was that for you?"

"Don't tell me, you expected me to listen to you?"

Rachel was on the verge of hitting her head to the wall. How did their relationship change overnight?

"Come back home... Please." Rachel sniffled also.

"..."

The line went dead. Jane had cut the call.

What the?

Since she couldn't persuade her through demanding, she had retorted to please her. How embarrassing!

Hey Author, don't suggest this method. It doesn't work on everyone!

Rachel tried calling her back, but the phone was switched off.

Just great!

"Inform me if she comes back!"

She cursed her entire ancestors before leaving the mansion.

She had left her mom's car in the hospital itself. She went to the garage to take her car out.

On the way, she called her friend.

"Hey, everything's alright?"

"Yeah, you are in the hotel?"

She was on 'Find-Jane-As-Soon-As-Possible' mission.

"Nope!"

Rachel slammed the brakes. What the hell? It was just a morning at 9 am and her friend was outside?

"Where are you now?"

"Outside,"

And? Can't people be more specific?

"Humans need to have breakfast, remember? I need food to survive!"

Rachel groaned.

'Seriously? Can't I have a break?'

"Place an ORDER! Go back to the hotel. Right now! Don't go anywhere!"

She cut the call after that. People should listen to someone if they are worried about them. How difficult could it be to listen?

Crysta wanted to ask why but her friend had cut the call already.

'Something happened at the hospital? But why would she ask me not to leave the room?'

She sighed and turned back to leave the place. She didn't see a shadow following her.

Rachel's heart was beating like a crazy bitch against her chest.

"Don't panic. You just have to get everyone together. They won't be able to harm them. But, why are all outside in this exact damn moment?" She cursed.

Her phone beeped, indicating a message.

[Unknown number: Two hours left. Make your decision.]

A picture was attached to the message. It was Crysta's, walking back to the hotel.

It was a warning.

'Crysta is safe. For... now.'

She needed to find Jane ASAP.

_

Back in the hospital,

Colin's face was looking grave.

"The marriage must be annulled. Find a way to apologize without dragging my son into this. I don't want him to become a laughing stock in our business circle."

Colin looked horrified. He wanted to shout at everyone.

"No! please, no. Don't do this. I will make sure everything is cleared before today. I will ask the Lee family to deny the photos. There is really nothing going on between them!"

The man didn't budge. He looked rather determined.

"Give me one chance. Tomorrow, you will see the news saying everything was false. Okay? If word gets out that Rachel's marriage got canceled, her life will be ruined. Think about Darren. They both are engaged!"

He pleaded with his heart. He had not pleaded anyone in his life but because of Rachel, he had to do it. After all, he was the father of a daughter.

Seeing him begging so much, Darren's father contemplated.

"Alright, just one day. If not... you know what happens!"

"Sure, sure. No problem."

Colin nodded his head eagerly. Once the man left the room, Colin felt humiliated. He had to put up with all the humiliation in front of some nameless businessman.

Rachel was his daughter. Though he hated her, he would do anything for her.

He remembered the message from the unknown number. He balded his fist tightly.

He was aware of what stunt that person was pulling off. That person wanted to push him to dead-end without an option.

But he was determined not to accept the defeat.

Outside the room, Darren's hand that was holding the doorknob trembled.

'Annul the marriage? No, no, no!'

He staggered back, hitting the wall.

His father came out and saw him in a devastating state.

"I assume, you have heard everything? Good, I need not repeat it again."

He started walking away from the room.

Darren dashed towards him. He held his father's hand, breathing heavily.
