Chapter 80 : The unexpected turn of events. (5)

Gabriel silently sobbed as she saw her husband sleeping on the bed, motionlessly. Her heart broke for her husband as well as her daughter, Rachel.

"Madam, take rest. I will make a call to enquire about the news."

She nodded her head as Kenly left the ward, leaving the couple alone.

She gently stroked Colin's arm, trying to soothe his emotions.

Earlier, he had got a call from one of his businessmen friends, asking him to watch the news. The business channel was showing the live press conference of Rachel and Aaron's that was held in their company.

She couldn't stop him at the right moment. Before she could get a hold on the situation, Colin had flared up, smashing the things around.

She had never seen Colin losing his temper to that extent in her whole life. This was a new version of him for her.

Her thoughts went back to the news and her mind went blank.

She really hoped the news to be false but she already had an answer.

But she still didn't understand why Rachel would go up against her father. What was the reason behind it? Just to get married to Aaron?

But they had first met during the engagement party. How could they do this?

Now, that the news had spread like a wildfire, how were they going to face society? It was such a shame for her husband who had lived his whole life with great honor and courtesy.

The business circle would point out this wherever he goes and laugh at him for not raising their daughter in a good manner.

But Rachel wasn't just a daughter to them but also, daughter-in-law.

She felt so dejected for not being to ease anyone's hard feelings.

She suddenly remembered Colin saying that Rachel was not his daughter anymore and got panicked.

Clearly, it was not just a bluff or a saying out of a whim but, it was said with pure hatred! More than anyone, she knew her husband well enough to understand his anger!

"Who should I support if the conflict arrives? He's my husband but she's my daughter! How can I choose anyone between them?"

She turned her head and saw her husband sleeping peacefully. If things get out of hands, she must make a choice...

In the Steins Industry,

Aaron waited for Rachel to get off the elevator as he was not aware of the directions to her cabin. Though it wasn't his first time visiting the company, he had only been to the CEO's office and not other places.

Rachel got off the elevator and strode towards her cabin.

He followed the girl unhurriedly and entered the cabin.

It wasn't as big as his office but a small neatly organized cabin with a desk and a PC along with a side sofa and a round coffee table.

Everything looked clean and neat! Just like his woman.

"Look,"

Rachel spoke to gain the lord's attention who was now admiring the office.

Aaron turned around to face her. He raised an eyebrow as he spoke.

"Where?"

She lost her balance before falling on to the ground and puked two liters of blood!

Of course, it was just an imagination but that's how she felt after hearing his reply!

"Can you be serious for once at least?"

Seriously, what the heck is wrong with this guy?

"I'm serious, totally."

He shrugged in response.

She asked him to 'look' and he asked her 'where'! What was wrong with that? Wasn't he serious enough?

Rachel rolled her eyes as he was acting like an innocent kid!

"What did you do back in there? Did you forget what we agreed earlier? The blackmailer clearly wanted me to take the blame for cheating in order to save Jane! How could you do this? What if anything happens? How am I going-"

"She's fine."

Rachel's words were cut off and she blinked, blinked, and blinked to process his words.

She's fine? Who? Who's fine?

As if he had understood her questions, he continued,

"Jane is safe, she's not in their hands anymore."

"Really? Are you saying the truth?"

She sprang from her place, clutched his blazer in excitement.

She couldn't believe this!

"Have I ever lied before?"

'Please, that is the only thing you did back in the conference room!'

She wanted to tell this loud but held it back. After all, he had saved not only Jane but also her reputation.

It must have taken his lots of effort to locate Jane to save. He had gone to the extent of tampering the engagement photos to save her face! He had agreed to marry her without asking for the reason, even after knowing that he was getting used to saving Jane.

She must be grateful to him, forever!

"Thank you,"

He could sense her genuine feelings in her eyes.

"Don't you want to repay me?"

With a devilish grin on his face, he looked like a slaughter, ready to have his meal!

Rachel's mouth twitched.

So much for being grateful!
