Realization and Secret

Even after his father had finished up his work, Ron still hadn't found anything remotely close to what he was looking for. Which he believed was because although he could read the book he didn't understand it at all. That's when he realized that being able to read something didn't mean you knew what it meant. Case and point all the weird ingredients most of which never showed up in the movies.

' Fuck! That's what I get for only watching the movies! Had I known I was going to be reborn here, I'd of bothered to read a book or two...'

Not knowing that his son was having a mental breakdown Arthur picked up Ron and took him up to bed. Then mid way out the door noticed that he was trying to take the book along with him.

" Ron you can't take the book, okay? I'll let you read it tommorow, but it's time for bed now."

Even thought he didn't know much of what the book entailed. Ron wasn't willing to sit around all day tommorow waiting for his return. So he held on to the book as tight as his little arms allowed him. Obviously that wasn't nearly enough as his father easily took the book away from him.

" There, now let's go."

' Nooo!'

Taking the book away Arthur closed the door and locked it to the dismay of Ron. Having lost his only new way to learn something Ron could only give up and went along with his father upstairs, where he was placed in his crib while his father went to bed.

' Guess I'll practice Lumos tonight again...'

' Lumos'

' Lumos'

The following day, it became apparent that his father told his mother what he'd done yesterday. Seeing as how his his mother now looked at him with great curiosity. She obviously doubted her husbands words since Ron was so young and hadn't been taught how to read.

Nevertheless after feeding him, she took him to their living room, before summoning a children's book. Not oblivious to what she wanted to do, Ron for the first time in his new life felt relived for being a Weasley.

' I guess reading in front of your parents at nine months wasn't a smart decision. Luckily the Weasley's were some of the most open minded people in the entire movies. I'd hate to imagine what the Durselys or Malfoys would do to me in this situation.'

Reassuring himself, Ron's mind naturally shifted towards a more optimistic end.

' Maybe if I show out, they'll let me do many things they'd never let me do otherwise. Good thing none of my brothers are home, specially the twins who always try to make me smile or cry.'

His mother then made the children's book float in front of him, he of course could read it, so he read the passage in his mind and then smiled at her.

"Ron sweety is it true that you understand words? Could you show me, can you tell me what this word means?"

Pointing at the word Bunny, easy enough he pointed at the moving pictures of the bunny on the page.

"That's right! Oh what about this one?"

His mother then went on picking every word of the book until she realized that her husband was right.

"Merlins beard! You really do understand! But how does that even happen? Could you have somehow memorized the words from when your brothers read out loud?"

While he couldn't tell her the truth, that being of his reincarnation. It surely wasn't his fault if she came up with a viable story all on her own.

"This is wonderful news! I'd always wondered when one of you lot would take after me! I was a great student at Hogwarts I'll let you know!"

Having shown her that he understood, she took out another of her brothers books. They were all children's books with many moving pictures, but soon enough she wanted to challenge him. That's when she brought out a much older looking book and placed it down in front of Ron.

"Okay, then how about this word do you know what this word means?"

"*Charm... isn't that a spell*"

Not fully understanding he pointed at his mother's wand, after which she almost jumped up from joy. He didn't know what was so important but she seemed really happy that he got that one.

" That's right! What I used was the Accio Charm! it's what makes the books come towards me, to think you even understood that. We might have to have you learn with Bill and Charlie."

Hearing her words Ron gave her the biggest smile, because that was exactly what he wanted, more knowledge. Specially after he'd come to realize that many important things were left out of the movies. Ron wanted to know everything and anything that wasn't in the movies, he didn't want to be left vulnerable.

' Hopefully after today, I'll be allowed to gather more information beit from books or my family.'

When his father arrived from work that evening his mother made sure to tell him what Ron had done.

" Arthur! Arthur! You won't believe what occurred today!"

Surprised at his wife's unusually excited mood, Arthur wasn't sure what to expect. Then when she told him, his expression froze leaving his wife and children worried.

" Looks like you--"

" -- Broke dad Ronnie."

" Arthur, stop fooling around! This is a serious matter, what should we do?"

" What do you mean? We celebrate what else is there to do when your son's a genius? We should call over the Lovegoods and Diggory's!"

" Have you gone daft!? With everything that's going on and you want to flaunt our child around!? Lord knows what'll happen to any of us if those lunatics learn of Ron."

Listening to her, Arthur knew that although harsh her words held truth. Leading to the both of them making a somewhat rushed decision on Ron's abnormal intelligence.

" Okay, boys listen closely. Until this whole ordeal with you-know-who clears up not a word about your little brother, understood?"

" What about-"

With this being an incredibly sensitive matter, the second he saw the twins messing around Bill nudged them both. As the oldest and awaiting Hogwarts attendee he knew how serious the situation outside was.

" Don't worry dad, if they say one word I'll burn their secret stash of toys and fireworks."

" Bill--"

" --You traitor!"

" Don't worry I won't do anything to your stash, as long as you two stay quiet."

What then followed was an endless back and forth between the twins and their older brother. Culminating with everybody forgetting about Ron and his secret.
