5. Face/off

"You didn't need to do that I will be getting my commission out of this" Mary said as she sat on her seat in the restaurant.

"I know but I still think that you really did a great job and I can't just think of anything else but this for showing my appreciation " Rowan said

"Now that your book is going to publish you are suddenly not thinking of stopping of acting right." Mary asked as didn't know what was the reason Rowan wanted to become an actor if it was to get rich than he already got it through his book.

"No, I want to be an actor it has nothing to do with my book being successfully publish" Rowan stated

"That's good, I do have a job for you at the studio of Everyone loves Raymond, you will be playing a college nerd. If you are interested than you can bring your ID and be there day after tomorrow before 11 O' clock" Mary Acker stated

"Okay, I will remember that. But now that you said it I have to ask you something, do you know someone named Terence Chang." Rowan asked

"How do you know that name?" Mary asked as she knew that Terence Chang was one of the producers of Face/off the movie with budget of 80 million dollars and a close associate of the Director John Woo.

Seeing her reaction Rowan told her how he met Terence Chang and how they exchanged number and now he was just waiting for the call.

"Your luck is good but for now all we can do is wait for his call" Mary Acker said and then told him about who Terence Chang really was, hearing which Rowan became excited after all there is no need for a guy like Terrance Chang to play with him so it's likely that he will get a chance to audition for a role in the movie.

...

The next day, Rowan's Aunt and Uncle called to congratulate him on his birthday and finally turning 17 and also berated him for not coming back to celebrate. It was only then did Rowan remember that today was his birthday but it really wasn't that important to him. After thanking them Rowan left the house and went to the Shooting Club he heard about from Mary.

Thanks to Spawn he knows about the guns and how to use them but he hasn't tried them till now so he decided to see how well he would be when he has to use them actually.

As soon as he entered the shooting club he couldn't help but be slightly stunned as a familiar face walked out, "Rowan? You are here too?"

Rowan showed an "excited" look on his face. Then hurried forward and waited for Terence Chang to extend his hand before taking it with both hands and saying, "yes, it's a coincidence that Mr. Terence is here too."

"Haha, I was just talking about you with Woo. Speak of the devil, and the devil appears. You seem to have become stronger recently and look more energetic. You must keep up the good work. Our crew will start work soon."

Terence patted his tall shoulders, pinched the muscles on his arms, nodded, and said with great satisfaction.

Rowan did not ask about the crew. He changed his mind and said quickly,"I have been training all the time. I came here today to practice shooting and get a feel for it."

Terence Chang didn't show what he was thinking of. He laughed and patted Rowan's hand. Then he leaned over to his ear and whispered,"Come on, young man. I will definitely give you a big surprise when the time comes."

Nodding excitedly, Rowan quickly said yes. He never hesiitated to show respect to those who helped him. After all, it wouldn't cost him anything.

"Hey, isn't this Mr. Terence? Why haven't you left yet? Are you going to sit for a while? Let me telIl you, the budget for this project is already big enough, but you haven't finishled it yet, and our release date has already been set..."

A shrill voice suddenly reached his ears, and Rowan saw a figure walking towards him, and a strong smell of perfume entered his nostrils. A pair of sinister anid greedy eyes

stared straight at him!

Terence Chang's face changed. Even though he was a well educated man he couldn't help but get angry. However his expression did not change at all. He turned his head calmly and stared at the androgynous face quietly.

But the visitor did not hold back at all. Instead, he raised a sinister smile, shifted his gaze from Rowan to Terence Chang's face, and said in a sarcastic tone: "Oh, are you angry already? I am also responsible for the investors' funds. I can't let the crew breach the contract due to momentary negligence. We have already signed the

contract."

"Hmph, you don't have to worry about that. We have already found a suitable filming location and cast, and all communications have been completed. We wilI start work soon. You should think about how to get the

funds in place as soon as possible!"

Terence Chang obviously did not show any weaknessand did not seem to be afraid of this sarcastic guy. He retorted bluntly.

Hearing this, Rowan seemed to understand something. The person in front of him must be the representative of the Paramount Company. He always looked down on and was wary of outsiders like Jhon Woo and Terence Chang.

The fight in the theater is also struggle for power. Thinking of this, Rowan couldn't heIp but recall some news he had read inhus previous life.

During the filming of "Face/off" the forces represented by John Woo had an obvious struggle with the project manager of Paramount.

The former pursues realism in everything and requires real-scene planning for shooting, while the latter has to be done in the studio, with at most some of the post-production special effects processing.

Not only that, due to budget issues, Jhon Woo and the producers on Paramount's side also had some dirty tricks, ofcourse it was just something he read when he searched bout this movie in his previous life and he didn't know how much of it was real but looking tabyhe person in front of him he guessed that the reason why it was not reported was naturally because of the huge box office success of "Face/Off", which covered up everything and this thing became a fake news on the reddit.

In Hollywood, which is a place of fame and fortune, struggles exist everywhere and no one can back down, because that wouId mean weakness and others would simply take advantage of it. Touching the curly blond hair, David Permut turned his head, looked at Rowan again, and said in a disdainful tone: "I see. Is this the actor you're

looking for? He looks good, but he doesn't seem familiar. I don't know what skills he has to get that role? Could it be...?"

Seeing that dirty look, Terence Chang was furious, but he knew that he couldn't quarrel with this guy openly, so he curled his lips and said: "Yes, this is the actor I found. If you

have any opinion, we can have a fair test! What do you think?"

As he spoke, Terence Chang turned his head and raised his eyebrows at Rowan. Rowan, who was originally unwilling to join this fight, suddenly realized a very simple yet profound truth. If he wants to be successful in this industry he can't back out right now, thanks to the fight between Terence Chang and this Paramount's producer he has gotten a chance, now he doesn't know if it's the same role he would have had if Terence wasn't angry at the other guy but he won't say no to this opportunity he has now.

Taking a deep breath, Rowan's eyes sparkled with light. He met Terence Chang's encouraging gaze, nodded solemnly, and said "No problem, but I don't know if this

gentleman will have any objections. After all, I am a person who respects the elderly and loves the young."

David Permut sneered, took out a handkerchief from his pocket, gently wiped the dust off his sleeves, and said in a nonchalant tone "

"No problem. There will be a round of internal auditions at Paramount Studios tomorrow. If you don't want to participate, I will assume you've given up."

"tomorrow?" Terence Chang couldn't help but feel angry. Half of the day was already

over. Even if an actor had the best acting skills, how welI could he fit the role if he only got the script half a day later?

Besides, Terence Chang originally just wanted to give Rowan a small role with relatively concentrated scenes, which was not difficult to perform and could leave a bright impression on the audience.

Now because of David Permut's egging he gave him a different role, that important supporting role is completely different. The script alone is more than 10 pages long, and it would be quite remarkable if he can remember all the lines.
