Putting the Phoenix Jade hairpin in his hair, Xiao Fang followed Supreme Elder Song's instructions.

After sitting cross-legged and making a peculiar hand symbol, Xiao Fang began to feel familiar Qi brewing up from within the hairpin. The Qi itself moved around Xiao Fang as if it was alive.

"Something is happening," Xiao Fang said.

"Good," Supreme Elder Song replied. "It means it's working. Try reading the technique again. Tell me if you are having an easier time understanding it."

Xiao Fang did as she said and began to read the [ Soul Search ] technique again. To his surprise, when he tried to understand the practice method now, it was as if he was already familiar with the concept of a soul.
