Assembling the Support Divisions

Jiang Han sat at the head of the sleek conference table in the Aegis Sentinel Corps headquarters. The room was a hive of focused energy as team members bustled to prepare reports, deliver updates, and finalise plans. While the Security Guard Division's recent successes had cemented the Corps' reputation, Jiang Han's attention was now firmly fixed on a critical piece of the organisation's framework: the Support Divisions.

These divisions—Cybersecurity and Counter-Surveillance—were essential to complement the physical security provided by bodyguards and operatives. In an increasingly interconnected world, the battlefield wasn't confined to physical spaces. Jiang Han knew that digital threats, information warfare, and covert surveillance posed just as much danger as physical attacks.

He had already handpicked candidates for the leadership roles, based on their unique expertise and stellar records. Today was the day to finalise their appointments.

The conference room door opened, and Colonel Yusof entered first, his towering presence commanding attention. He was followed by two individuals whose contrasting demeanours immediately caught Jiang Han's attention.

The first was Dr Imran Rahman, a man in his late forties with a calm, analytical expression. He was a former defence contractor with a storied career in cyber forensics and digital threat management. His polished demeanour and sharp, measured speech made him the ideal candidate to lead the Cybersecurity Unit.

The second was Sergeant Marcus Tan, a younger but equally formidable figure. Marcus had been an expert in counterintelligence during his time with one of Malayuna's most secretive units. His reputation for thwarting high-level surveillance operations had earned him both allies and enemies in equal measure. Though his sharp gaze betrayed a lifetime of vigilance, his calm exterior exuded confidence.

Colonel Yusof gestured for them to sit as he addressed Jiang Han. "Mr Jiang, may I present Dr Imran Rahman and Sergeant Marcus Tan. They're here to discuss their vision for the Support Divisions."

Jiang Han nodded, offering both men a warm but businesslike smile. "Thank you for coming. I've reviewed your profiles extensively, but I'm more interested in hearing your thoughts directly. Let's begin."

Dr Imran adjusted his glasses and spoke first, his tone steady but impassioned. "Mr Jiang, cybersecurity isn't just about protecting systems. It's about understanding your adversaries—how they think, what they target, and why. My goal for the Cybersecurity Unit is to make it impenetrable, not just defensively but offensively. We can preempt attacks by identifying threats early and taking decisive action."

Jiang Han leaned forward, intrigued. "And how would you propose building this unit?"

"We need specialists," Imran continued. "Coders, analysts, ethical hackers. People who understand the nuances of digital warfare. I also recommend investing in proprietary systems—software designed specifically for Aegis Sentinel Corps' needs, rather than relying on off-the-shelf solutions."

Jiang Han's eyes gleamed. "I like the sound of that. And you, Sergeant Marcus?"

Marcus Tan's voice was lower but no less commanding. "Counter-surveillance is about staying ahead of the game. The threats we face aren't just technological. They're human. Spies, infiltrators, saboteurs. My team will be trained to detect and neutralise threats before they escalate."

He paused his sharp gaze meeting Jiang Han's. "Our first priority should be training existing operatives to recognise surveillance tactics. Simultaneously, we'll establish a core team dedicated to covert operations—experts in identifying listening devices, tracking enemy movements, and creating counterintelligence strategies."

Jiang Han nodded approvingly. "Both of you clearly have a deep understanding of your respective fields. What about collaboration? These units will often need to work together."

Imran smiled faintly. "Collaboration is the cornerstone of modern defence. Cybersecurity and counter-surveillance are two sides of the same coin. While my team focuses on digital threats, Marcus's team can address the human element. Together, we cover all bases."

Marcus added, "Regular joint exercises will ensure seamless coordination."

The conversation was interrupted by a knock at the door. Sophia Liew and Corporal Nik Suraya entered, both of them introduced earlier as assistant leaders for the two units. Sophia, a reformed hacker with a mischievous smirk, exuded confidence that bordered on defiance. Nik Suraya, on the other hand, was the epitome of discipline, her no-nonsense attitude honed during years of covert operations.

Jiang Han gestured for them to join the discussion. "Welcome. I'd like to hear your perspectives."

Sophia grinned. "I'll keep it short. I've worked with some of the best—and worst—cybersecurity teams in the world. The key isn't just skill; it's adaptability. Threats evolve, and so must we. That's why I believe in fostering a culture of continuous learning. Every team member should be both a student and a teacher."

Nik Suraya nodded in agreement. "And in counter-surveillance, discipline is everything. We can't afford mistakes because even a single slip can compromise an operation. My focus will be on instilling a sense of precision and accountability within the team."

Jiang Han leaned back, a rare smile gracing his lips. "It seems I've chosen well. I trust all four of you to turn these visions into reality."

The meeting concluded with formal appointments: Dr Imran and Sophia as the leaders of the Cybersecurity Unit, and Marcus and Nik as the heads of Counter-Surveillance. No sooner had they settled into their roles than their first challenge emerged.

Colonel Yusof entered Jiang Han's office later that evening, a file in hand. "We've intercepted chatter about a possible data breach attempt targeting our systems. It's nothing major yet, but it's a good test for the Support Divisions."

Jiang Han nodded. "Inform Dr Imran and Marcus immediately. Let's see how they handle it."

The newly formed teams sprang into action. Imran's cybersecurity specialists traced the source of the breach attempt to a shadowy group of hackers operating out of a neighbouring country. Marcus's counter-surveillance operatives, meanwhile, identified a suspicious vehicle parked near the headquarters and neutralised the surveillance devices planted within it.

The operation was a resounding success. By the end of the night, the hackers' systems were compromised, their identities exposed, and their plans thwarted. Jiang Han observed the teams' efforts remotely, his satisfaction growing with each update.

As the Support Divisions settled into their roles, their contributions to the Aegis Sentinel Corps became increasingly apparent. Clients were reassured by the organisation's ability to not only protect physical assets but also safeguard sensitive information. The combination of cutting-edge technology and expert personnel set the Corps apart, solidifying its reputation as a leader in the security industry.

For Jiang Han, the successful establishment of the Support Divisions was another step toward his ultimate goal. But he knew that challenges lay ahead—challenges that would test the strength of his growing empire and the resolve of those who served it.

The meeting between Jiang Han and Colonel Yusof had shifted into a deeper discussion on operational efficiency and future goals for the Aegis Sentinel Corps. As they wrapped up the final details, a sharp knock on the office door drew both their attention. Major Azlan stepped in, his movements precise and calculated, embodying the discipline that defined his role.

"Excuse me, Jiang Han, Colonel Yusof," Major Azlan greeted, his tone measured but carrying the weight of his authority. "There's been an urgent report from one of our field teams in Petraling Jaya. A high-profile client reported unusual surveillance activities near their residence. Our Security Guards Division has already dispatched a team, but I recommend deploying the Counter-Surveillance Unit for a more thorough assessment."

Colonel Yusof nodded. "Good call, Major. Surveillance threats are becoming more sophisticated. Jiang Han, with your approval, we can make this a coordinated effort to highlight the Corps' capability."

Jiang Han leaned back in his chair, his fingers steepled thoughtfully. "Agreed. Assign Marcus Tan and his Counter-Surveillance Unit to collaborate with Captain Nizam's Security Guards. Ensure that this operation runs seamlessly. Also, Major Azlan, take this opportunity to review the training standards for dealing with surveillance threats. If adjustments are needed, inform me directly."

Major Azlan saluted sharply. "Understood. I'll handle it personally."

As Azlan exited the room, Jiang Han turned to Yusof. "These incidents are becoming more frequent. It's a stark reminder that we're not just protecting our client's interests but also safeguarding our reputation. Every operation is a statement of what the Aegis Sentinel Corps stands for."

Yusof smirked. "You think ten steps ahead, Jiang Han. That's why this Corps works."

Back in the family residence, Jiang Yu approached Jiang Han with a mixture of excitement and curiosity. "Ge, you've been busy all day. Can you at least tell me what's got you so engrossed?"

Jiang Han smiled. "It's all part of building something bigger, Yu. It's not just about business anymore—it's about creating a network that keeps everyone safe. The Corps is a stepping stone, but it's also a shield for us."

Jiang Yu nodded, his admiration for his older brother growing with every word. "It's inspiring, Ge. You've taken what most people would see as a disadvantage and turned it into a strength. I can't wait to see where this all leads."

The conversation was interrupted by the chime of Jiang Han's phone. It was Major Azlan. Jiang Han answered, his tone brisk. "Azlan, what's the status?"

"Preliminary findings confirm there was an attempt at passive surveillance near the client's property. Marcus Tan's team is combing through electronic devices found in the vicinity. We suspect it might be part of a larger effort targeting high-profile figures."

Jiang Han's expression hardened. "Keep me updated. If this escalates, I want a comprehensive report and recommendations for action by morning."

As the call ended, Jiang Yu observed his brother with newfound respect. "You're handling all of this like a pro, Ge. It's like you've done this before."

Jiang Han chuckled. "Let's just say my previous life taught me how to navigate challenges. But this time, I'm making sure the stakes are in my favour."
