Chapter Four: Platonic Kind of Love

Mei's P.O.V.

It had been a few hours since my conversation with Liam and I felt absolutely sick to my stomach with anxiety. I had spent my day off running around deep cleaning the whole house because I couldn't stand still, but I had come to a few conclusions. Caiden could show up against my brothers wishes, Hunter might not accept Elijah and I for who we were, and if I had a mate, now would be the best time to make a grand entrance.

I had to calm myself down though before I picked up Liam tonight. Hunter decided it was a good idea that I greet him alone at the airport to get a better feel of his mood. I may have suggested that he give us the night and meet us in the morning for breakfast. I wasn't sure how long he was planning on staying but he had a country to run so I prayed it was brief and easy. I still wanted to spend time with my brother during his brief visit so I Forced myself out of the house and made my way to the book store to ask Jewels  if she could man the fort for a week.

"Well hey there" Jewels greets me with one of her famous pearly white smiles. "Hey Jewels! I'm stopping by to see if I can ask you for a favor. I know you have a couple of days off coming up but I was wondering if you could cover me for a few, I promise you double pay!"

She snorts and rolls her eyes. "You know you don't have to pay me any extra! You are like a sister to me, you have done so much to make sure I was taken care of when I was new here."

"I know, but I offer because I love and appreciate you." I wink playfully and she puts her hands up to her heart pretending to be charmed. "Girl if Hunter wasn't gonna marry you I would!" we both let out our laughter we were trying to hold back.

"But seriously Mei," Jewels voice rang through firm. "You seem on edge, is everything okay?" I let out a sigh, Jewels could always see through me so well. So I let her know about all the conflicting emotions I have been feeling.  I also ask her how I should break the news to Hunter that I am a werewolf and oh yeah we aren't the only supernatural beings and to put the cherry on the icing my ex boyfriend could, I don't know, potentially drain him of every last drop of blood he had... but ya no pressure.

Jewels reaches out and pulls me into a hug, "when I found out that my brother was moving here to be with his mate in Quinn's pack, I was very overwhelmed. It was just me and him and then all of a sudden it was me and him plus hundreds of werewolves. Nothing at the time felt real, but we all adjusted and if Hunter truly loves you he will understand. The only thing I think everyone is worried about is if you have a mate and how he would react finding you married or worse pupped."

I inwardly cringe and a part of my wolf stirs. "Yeah, that is my worst fear too but, I just feel so happy right now." I sigh,  "I don't know, maybe that is the reason why I'm pushing this is because I don't want to lose this feeling, this security." She nods her head in understanding. "I understand that, as your friend I will support you no matter what, but also as your friend I have to warn you to wait longer."

I sigh knowing she is right but I didn't want to talk about it anymore, I knew their was plenty of that to come in the next few days. "Alright then Jewels, I have to go talk to Quinn too before Liam arrives, I haven't told him much about Hunter and I and if Liam is coming I know he would want to feel prepared and welcoming. It's not everyday another Alpha visits!" I make my way to the exit and turn to say my final goodbyes.

"Please call me if you need anything while I'm gone, okay?" She smiles but I could see a hint of worry, "the same goes for you, you call me if you need anything too." "Thank you Jewels, you are truly an amazing friend and sister."

Now the only thing left to do was to see Quinn; he was such a busy man being a mayor of a human town and the alpha who ran the Midwestern United States, but he always made time for his close friends and family. I'm just hoping he won't be upset with the engagement....

I kept it from him because I wasn't sure I wanted to put Hunter through this life just yet, and Quinn breathing down his neck would not have been any help. He treats me like a little sister and quite honestly it's nice to have a 'older' brother, though Liam does a good job treating me as if I was the younger one too. However any advice or command, no matter what, I knew Quinn did it in everyone's best interest.

Quinn's P.O.V.

I was in the middle of a call when I heard a light knock on my office door. 'come in and have a seat. I will be off the phone in a second.' I mind linked to the wolf standing outside, not even a second later I notice it's Mei as she slowly makes her way to one of the chairs that is facing me. "I'm going to have to call you back Silas, make sure that you send me the last of the paperwork." I hung up the phone and turned my attention to her.

"So, what graces me with your presence today princess?" She shoots me a smirk and sticks out her tongue, "I hate it when you call me that Quincey" I made a face of disgust, "you stop calling me Quincy and I'll let the Princess thing go." She let out a warm chuckle, "Nah, not when you make those faces!" I let out a fake frustrated huff, "You are a thorn!" she fidgets in her seat, "about that," she hesitates before continuing, "I think I might be worse than a thorn." I squint my eyes at her, "what did you do now?"

She takes a deep breath and pinches the bridge of her nose, "Imayormaynothavesaidyestomarryingahumanwhoisntmymateandliamisonajetairplanehererightnow!" she lets out all in one breath, and the room falls silent for a moment. "Mei... Wang... So help me god." She finally looks me in the eyes showing slight sadness which makes me feel bad about raising my voice. I take a deep breath too, "slow down and just tell me the whole story." She nods her head and finally opens up about it all.

We sit there again in silence as I process all of her nervous rumblings about the predicament she is in.

*Sigh*

On one hand she will always love Caiden because the idiot had imprinted on her the moment she turned eighteen so no matter what she would feel the pull of her beloved, however he could never turn or mark her. On another hand she hasn't met her mate and wants to marry a man she has been with for a decent amount of time so I couldn't really be too upset with that.

Then it clicked, "Okay, I think I have a suggestion that might just solve this. I have to say though, no matter the outcome, more than one person is going to get hurt." She leans forward eager to hear what I have to say. "We have our peace gala being hosted here this year in December. Werewolf and supernatural folk from all over the world gather once every ten years, you missed the last one because you were a minor. I think you should convince Hunter to wait with some excuse so you can take that opportunity to see if you can find your true mate then. If it doesn't work out I will bless your union and accept him into the pack. I don't think Liam would be opposed to the idea either, in fact that might chase him back home until then."

She looks down at her hands brows furrowed. "Their are so many things to consider, but you are right... I guess in the end because of my selfishness I may end up not only hurting myself but at least Hunter, because no matter how you look at it, I am lying to him about who I really am. He is the only one truly in the dark, but our society has strict rules for a reason. So for the sake of our secret, I am afraid this is the best option." She lets out a sigh, but it sounds like she is slightly relieved.

I give her a friendly smile, "I am glad you are being honest with yourself at least. You know I am busy, but no matter what my door is always open to you when you need to talk." He glanced down at his wrist watch briefly,  "why don't you go get Elijah, it's getting late, we can discuss everything in further detail later." She nods and stands to leave, "Thank you Quinn, you are an amazing Alpha and friend, I don't know what I would do without you and Jewels. I am lucky to have so many people in my life that keep me grounded." she says as she quickly grabs her things and leaves with haste.

'John,' I mind linked my beta 'I need you to get one of the pack cabins cleared for a visitor. Also I need you to dig up some information for me on a guy named Hunter.' 'Yes Alpha Quinn, I believe he is on of the local sheriffs in town. I'll let you know what I have as soon as possible.'  'Thank you Beta John.'  I let out a breath that I didn't realize i had been holding.

This guy better hope to god he never fucks up with Mei.

Our story is starting to pick up a good flow and the dialogue is going to start taking more shape. Hang in there, because trust me, I am just as excited to write the smutty love stuff as you are to reading it! Thank you so much for all the continued support and reads!
