Portion 16: Ancient Greece

Arianna Contos' POV

I was having my banter with my sworn enemy slash my interest, Lucas Dow. I was in my alter ego, of course, The Woman in Gold, the person that has attempted to steal the Citrine of Greece 4 years ago in France when this man stopped me.

I did not know that Lucas was the same man that caught me red-handed 4 years ago until I stumbled upon something when I was searching for his background.

"The newest recruit that stopped the stealing of The Citrine of Greece was now on the move to catch the elusive thief again," I read as I was looking at my computer last night before I went to bed. I was arching my eyebrow when I know that Lucas did not know I was the Woman in Gold after all.

He trusted me enough to kiss me back then.

So, I did what I always did when I liked the attention of the forbidden fruit. I seduced him to talk to me, have a conversation, see where it leads. But I did not know that he would think of hurting me.

That bastard, I will kill him in his sleep when we're together in the future.

If that would be possible since I don't know where we are right now. I was groaning when the darkness was all around me. I was blinking fast, thinking that it was my eyes but my surrounding was indeed dark.

So, I guess it was not my vision then.

I sat up before I was turning to look around my surrounding in darkness. I did not know where I was or what had happened when I touched the citrine. It was hot to my touch and I think that hotness produced some light as I was blinded when I was closing my eyes.

And bam! I was here, in the dark as I was standing up to look around.

"Hello?" I shouted and I heard some echo when I was listening for some reply. It was nothing as I was moving to walk before I was stumbling into stones.

"Stupid rock," I mumbled before I was hearing the very familiar voice. The one that has been haunting my dream when I was asleep in the bathtub.

"You know, rocks aren't stupid. It was you who should be looking where to step," it said before something was flashing in front of me. It was fire as I was looking at the faces that were in the dark. But one face was looking intensely at me and I shivered with the slate orbs.

"Now, welcome home, dearest," the man of my dream said to me as I was being hauled by his henchmen when I was struggling to getaway.

"Let me go!"

"In time, you will. But for now, I need to escort you back to my palace, dearest," the silver-eyed man said as I was looking at him. He has the same figure as Lucas as their eyes were silver. But Lucas looked at me with warmth while this man, this barbarian, was looking at me with the intensity that I don't think I would love it.

"Where are you taking me? I don't want to go with you," I said as I was trying to get my hands out of their strong grips.

Boy, that hurt.

"You will have to get used to this. The gods have spoken, I am to be married a faraway princess as I will stumble upon her in this cave. I will not give any chance for others to take it from me," the leader, as I would call him for now, was smirking before we were leaving the cave, I realized. I was kicking my legs before I was gasping as I took in the sight that was showing in front of me right now.

It was magnificent, nothing like I have ever seen before.

But then, I saw the familiar buildings that I only saw in the textbooks when I was studying History. The pantheon and the acropolis were standing still. The statues of Greek Gods and Goddesses were filling out the city as I was looking around from this high point.

"Speechless. I know you would. I have called upon this as the Oracle has spoken for me. I will take my rightful place as the king of this land and you will be my queen, princess," he said as he was smiling at me with such cruelty that I know he would not negotiate with the terms. I don't want this but I have to play along.

For now.

"Who are you?" I asked him before he was amused by my question.

"Pardon me for not showing my good manners to my bride. I am the sole heir of the king of Attica. You can call me Julian, my dearest," he said as he was bowing at me for a while as his intense grey eyes were on me.

I gulped and I wished that I did not get married in this place, as I don't know where we were but I know for sure that I am in the past.

Ancient Greece to be exact.

Lucas Dow's POV

I was grunting when I felt something was licking my face. I don't know why my head was throbbing hard but I was trying to swat away the intruder that was licking my face.

"Stop," I mumbled before I was opening my eyes slowly and met the familiar brown eyes that I have come to love.

But her face was different and something was barking at me as I was sitting up from the ground.

Not a good idea, though.

Blood rushed to my brain as lights were flashing in front of my eyes. I was looking around before I was shaking my head as the woman that has been staring at me for the longest time I can remember.

The dog jumped on me before it was licking my face again. I was landing on the ground again before the woman was speaking the ancient language of Athens, Sparta, and Thebes.

Wait, was that mean…?

"Hello?" I said in the ancient language before the woman was looking at me. I smiled before I was pushing the dog off me as I was clearing my throat.

"Do you know where we are?" I asked her as the woman was shifting away from me. I tried to stop her as I was looking at her before I stopped myself.

I must be weird looking and when I looked at myself, I groaned.

I was not wearing anything that represented this timeline that I only saw in the history book. I guessed the story that Edmond told me was real then. I don't think that I would be experiencing it but it seems Fate was laughing at me.

I have time traveled and I was in Ancient Greece.

I stood up as I was dusting my clothes before the dog barked again. I was smiling before I was scratching behind its ear. It seems to like it as I was clearing my throat to speak with its owner. And when I was looking at her, she jumped.

"Please, I meant no harm," I said in the ancient language that might sound weird to the people of modern days. I did not know that I would be using this language until I was in this period now.

I guess brushing up on the old language was a good investment after.

"Can I have some water please, I am thirsty, the kind one," I said as I was now blowing at her. She looked at my strange gesture as I felt the blood was rushing to my ears right now.

Okay, I am embarrassing myself right now.

I sighed before I was closing my eyes and rubbed my face with my hands. It smelled of dirt and rain. I was looking at the woman again before I smiled at her.

"Sorry, I will get going then," I said as I was moving to get away from her but she was calling after me.

"Here," she said as I was looking at the wineskin that was holding some cold water. Thanks to Lord!

"Thank you," I said as I was drinking it. It was heaven before I was looking at her.

"Where are we?" I asked her as I was looking around. She did not say much but I think I can pinpoint where are we if my ancient map was correct.

"We're in Attica," she said as I was looking at her. I arched my eyebrows.

"Attica," I said as I was looking at the acropolis that stood erected and the smokes that were coming in the city. I saw togas and stolas were worn everywhere and I felt like I was being the weird one here right now.

"Attica," I mumbled before I was raking my hands through my hair. Then I remembered that the Woman in Gold was here as well.

If I was to travel time, maybe she did as well.

I stood up as I was looking at the woman who was eyeing me curiously. I smiled at her before I was doing the most ridiculous thing request ever.

"Say, I need a favor," I said as the young woman's eyes widened up. Yup, definitely the most ridiculous request ever.

"Where can I find a toga?"
