Middle Realm, Eariga, Hubert City Gates.
"Uh... Am I supposed to believe that this city is normal?"
Zeke, slowly rubs his upper lips while looking at the gates of Hubert City. There was two words that can currently describe what Zeke was looking at.
"Too big"
Zeke was no stranger to sky high buildings and such as his previous had no shortage of those, but if you are ever faced with a gate bigger than the Eiffel Tower it wouldn't be an exaggeration to accidentally trip while gazing at it.
"I wonder if this city is always attacked or something?"
While Zeke was busy trying to figure out the deal with the giant gate, a blue screen popped up in front him.
[Gates of Gaia]
[Lore: A tiny town, once in the middle of nowhere. Hubert provided refuge for lost wanderers as a small town they can accidentally arrive at, despite being in the middle of nowhere this town was by no means poor. Many adventurers has roots in this city, either as hometown or vacation spot. Gaia was one of them a Master (peak) Earth magician who held pride at originating from an ordinary town. One day a beast tide caused by the king of demon beast Lorgg, was routed for Hubert. Knowing this they tried all that they can to stop the tide but to no avail, the beasts were all in frenzy and a bloodbath occurred with the town on the losing side. Gaia feeling despair at how the town he prided himself to belong with was about to be destroyed as merely a route decided to perform one last magic, he created small walls made of earth at first but seeing as how the beasts merely hopped over he decided to give it his all and pray to the earth. His prayers were answered and he became one of the few high humans who broke through Master (peak) using his new found power he created tall earth walls which then changed matter after being created, the people were at awe and this brought them enough time for reinforcements to arrive. Hubert was turned into a city after those events and after a few years grew large enough to be considered one of the 7 capitals of Eariga.]
After Zeke read the informative lore, he was taking separate glances behind him and the gate.
"Who knew something like that happened just right behind me, history sure is fun. Not."
[Actually! It happened inside the city, as the walls were made as a last stand to barricade the beasts inside originally but ended being a bit too big and ended up just becoming a stronghold]
Zeke frowned before sighing and continued towards the gate when all of the sudden a small plate slided open revealing a head peeking out, it looked really similar to the ones in a confinement prison but what really caught his attention were the cctv cameras he didn't notice before.
'So this world really is modern...'
"Halt!"
The guard stretched out an arm with palms open like a kid asking for money, actually in this case it's not like, but he was really asking for money while 2 others pointed a rifle at Zeke
"If you don't have any sort of identification for Hubert City then pay the toll of 60 silvers!"
The guard had a crooked smile while the others had a slight air of greed around them. The money was no big deal for Zeke but he hesistated for a bit and cursed the guards in his mind.
'Fucking refuge for wanderers my ass! Which wanderer has 60 silvers to spare just to enter a goddamn useless city that's probably not even too impressi-'
Zeke stopped in place and closed his mouth while gulping exaggeratedly. The city that he was just about to call ugly, turned out be maybe worth the 60 silvers although it was still probably overpriced and rigged nonetheless.
"This is an actual modern city!?"
Zeke couldn't help but shout, he really had no impression on how modern is modern in this other world with magic and apocalyptic past but now he felt like an hermit who decided to get out of it's safe zone. In front of him was many different people who were staring at something in front of them while some were conversing, there were cars and some fantasy rides such as dragon carriage and such. On top of the sky was another season, there were brownish red leaves falling about everywhere so it was probably autumn. Zeke tried touching one of the leaves and to his surprise they were actual leaves! Continuing onwards he saw a variety of buildings and highways, with no doubt in his mind he decided to go find something of interest. There was a plaza in what seems to be the center of the city, it had a waterfall that was the same height as the other skyscrapers and had a large statue of a man in it which was most probably Gaia according to the plate below it, but that wasn't his goal he went to a billboard and his guess was correct it was a city map. He stared at it for a bit before realizing that it really was English. His eyes darted across the map before landing his gaze at a certain location with the words 'Adventurer's Hall' in it.
"Bingo"
Zeke grinned while nodding at himself. He ignored the other people who were suspiciously staring at nothing and walked towards the direction of the Adventurer's Hall before stopping, he raised an eyebrow before looking at the map again and attempt to do what seems like memorizing if you ignore the hand signs he's doing.
...
Zeke was an info broker and one of the most important thing to do before selling illegal private info was to know your location just In case, you could also say that he has a natural talent for navigation but nobody cares about that. Before heading to the Adventurer's Hall he took a few detours and went past several buildings he was familiar with, the mall which was just like a normal mall but behind it was another building with tinted glass on all windows which was no doubt the Auction House. He noticed that beside the printed name of the mall in the map there was also another building and that was the Auction House, next he went for the convenience store and hotels. Much to his surprise however there was another small wooden building beside the hotel that had a giant 'Inn' in its entrance. The convenience store was as you expected... a convenience store. He went through many different buildings like the Alchemist Hall and Blacksmith Hall which was right next to a weapon and armor shop. At last Zeke arrived at what seemed to be the Adventurer's Hall. He took a quick look around before cringing, the Adventurer's Hall was quite literally a City Hall. Even the building was the same!
"Makes sense I guess... right, what better way to be true to your words as a refuge for wanderers but have an Adventurer as your main citizens right?"
Zeke reassured himself before stepping inside but before he even got close to the door a giant man, or he was giant for now stopped him. He glared at Zeke as if to scare him and said.
"This is no place for kids! Go back home to mommy you're still too young"
He spat in front of Zeke before turning back and going along his way staring at the air again just like the others.
'Is everyone in this city a little off? It's if one or two stares at the air but all of them?'
Zeke stared at the door in front of him, what the guy actually said makes sense. He was too young and he probably won't be able to be an Adventurer just yet, unless... Just as Zeke was about to perform his plans a voice called out to him from behind.
"What's a cute little kid doing here!?"
Behind him was a red haired girl who was no doubt older than he is, she was wearing armor that was obviously for females and had ...again a 'too big' sword. She had a white frilled skirt that matched somehow with her red armor. She had bright green eyes and a pretty face, like the usual she stared in front of her before continuing.
"Say you also want a system do you? Hehehe probably heard stories about your papa or mama riiiiight~"
Zeke was stoic at first but second per second his jaws dropped until he was visibly about to shout. The girl covered his mouth with her hands making his scream muffled weird noises.
"Ohoho~ Do not worry little child! I'll keep your secret, hell I'll even help you get yours but there's a little something you have to give me after, kay~"
She was staring at Zeke's staff before nodding on her own and dragging Zeke inside. Poor Zeke could only cry as he was about to be dragged into some sort of fated bad luck.
...
Middle Realm, Demononia, Underground Prison of Bethlehem.
Several whips striking flesh reverberated throughout a prison followed by groans that was no doubt from someone bearing pain.
"Oh dear~ Princess Tsulxam does it hurt? Are you crying?"
WHIPISH!
"Nggrrrrh!"
A horned man with pointy ears and red eyes laughed maniacally as he slowly licked the blood off the whip.
SSSHHHH
"Fuck! That hurts! Shit! Goddamn!"
He threw the whip quite a distance and held out his ridiculously long tongue while patting it. He glared at the slightly snickering Tsulxam before kicking her in the stomach.
"Piece of shit! Just because your a demon from the high realm doesn't mean you can just order us middle realm demons like we're your pawns! Especially with your pathetic state"
He stomped on Tsulxam's hands and a few cracking sounds could be heard and a shout from a mature kid like voice.
"Tch, if I could place a slave crest on you this'll be a lot more fun. Fucking hypocrites who got themselves immune to slave crest but ends up slaving others like beasts in heat"
Tsulxam glared at the man and shouted.
"It's you treacherous assholes who caused that on your own! If you middle trashes didn't massacre other world's people and antagonize Eariga, my dad wouldn't force you guys to live in here as punishments! Plus you guys enslaved other demons so it was only necessary!
The horned man grew silent before slowly pinching the bridge of his nose and sighing. to him he was talking to a little girl both in age and body he could not help but cringe at how little this girl really knows.
"Oh you adorned daughter of his~ Do you not know that those attacks on Eariga were orchestrated by your dear father? That abnormal defect who horses around in Istravosia and after all is done he puts the blame on us! We, who were merely obeying his orders"
"Liar! My father is not a defect, and he is most definitely not a scheming bastard! What do you know about him! Arzaroth?!"
The horned man who by now is known to be Arzaroth didn't reply any longer and only left the cell. This little girl dared order him around in his own castle after arriving beaten and useless. If she wasn't the daughter of her father he would've ignored her and killed her on the spot.
"I've lived since the young days of your father, I know him from when he was a little mischievous prankster to a sky scheming shit bag. He even killed his own brother to get your mom"
Those last words shook Tsulxam, she wanted to reply but no words could come out, part of it was the damage from the holy whip but mostly it was the shock from the sudden statement about her mother. She reminisces about her past and somehow remembers a certain conversation she had with her mother.
...
In a garden with exotic living plants two horned girls with pointy ears were sitting. One seemed to be a child and the other was older and exudes the aura of a mother.
"Tsulxam, do you trust and love your father?"
Tsulxam looked up on her mom and smiled while nodding. Her mother smiled back while placing back the strands of white hair behind her ears, she moved closer Tsulxam and fixed her also white hair.
"Child, although I do love you...I wished you were not his daughter instead, such a wicked blood shared with something as pure as you..."
She gave her a hug while leaving the child with a confused face.
...
Later on, her mother died in the hands of an assassin. Tsulxam knew who it was but deep inside she denied it like a child... but now, now that she is facing the brunt of her father's actions she could clearly remember who it was.
"Artas..."
It all was clear to this petite white haired princess, from the beginning she had no ally. In fact she knew why her father cared for her it was not really because of her but her current reincarnation a devil who the has power to manipulate souls and incorporate them to spells. A Soul Whisperer.
This was the second time tears fell from her face, she was always pampered even back before she was chosen as a reincarnator people around treated her with more respect and glued themselves to her like bees to honey now she realizes how extremely fake those people are and could only wish for two things. A true bond and.
"Revenge against them all..."
She quietly whispered as souls began to surround her and give her mana for one last spell.
"Fate Leap!"
The world around her contorts before she drops into a white void leaving herself to fate.
Where will this spell bring her? What does this have to do with our flame lord? Will their fate intertwine or will Zeke do it himself?
