Middle Realm, Eariga, Eariga Academy Grounds.
A large, muscular and overall terrifying man overseeing the examinations and he could only frown at the new batch which was full of absolute failures. Each and every kid only had at most basic (medium) which was average for kids their age, he was about to ask a nearby guard to switch him but a boy with shaved head made him laugh so he honored him with his presence.
"That's a rare cut for a kid! Ahahaha, I like you!"
Zeke smiled wryly and was thinking of getting hair growth serums while he still has the time. He moved up the stage and was looking straight at the muscular man, naturally he didn't really see the man as someone amazing so he was little underwhelmed and couldn't help cringe at how high the man portrays himself.
"Hey kid, you know what to do right? Just how us your potential!"
He pointed his arms to the crowd and Zeke looked back, after a but he looked back with a beaming smile.
"Ok then! 'huuuuf' FIIIIIIIIREEEEEEEE!"
VOOOOOOSH!
CRACKLE!
SHHHHHHHH!
Sounds of screams and the smell of ash and something burning made the muscular man suddenly open his eyes. In front of him was a kid, no a literal maniac throwing out fire spells at the crowd and surroundings!
"WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?!"
He released a water spell, showing off at the same time! But to his surprise, his water nearly failed in putting off the fire.
'Professional (low)?! What talent!'
He was about to immediately get the kid a failing grade but seeing how badly damaged the surroundings were, he thought of the good side and managed to let Zeke pass... but before so he needed to question the kid.
"WHAT ARE YOU EXACTLY DOING?"
Zeke stared blankly at he muscular man and opened his mouth slowly before closing it, he looked around him and shrugged before answering.
"I showed my potential?"
"Yeah, potential to be an arsonist!"
The man nearly choked on saliva, but he remained indifferent. He pointed again at the crowd of students behind him which made Zeke also look back only to find the students pointing at a crystal ball in front of him.
"Ohhhhhh.... That's what I needed to show off to!"
Zeke lightly hammered his palm with his right fist, looking like someone who just finally realized something. He then laughed wryly before smiling once more, waiting for something.
"Yes...you passed, so get your ass inside the test hall already before I change my mind!"
Zeke obviously knew that he only needed to show the crystal ball some mana but for the sake of showing off, he turned pyromaniac and showed the fools who's genius.
...
He passed the exams, or rather he aced it and went back to Mastavata after. Zeke was welcomed with a congratulations party and a new lesson from Arteus which he gladly accepted.
"I can't believe I forgot about this but, you need your weapon"
Zeke went from glad to disappointed, for him his fire magic was mostly enough to deal with demons and the thought of weapons never entered his brains. So naturally he walked away but Arteus stopped him using his tremendous pressure.
"Look, old man, I don't need a weapon! I can create them using my magic and they're just a waste of space"
The old man sighed and was lightly drilling his temples at the mistake he made, to actually forget teaching the importance of weapons to a kid who practically had a regime with weapon training for dexterity...
"Do you know what my motto was when I was a hitman?"
Zeke rolled his eyes and slowly rubbed his chin in the same manner as Arteus much to his joy as his apprentice really took after him.
"I don't know? Maybe, because I don't actually know?"
Arteus's eyes remained indifferent because he was expecting those type of answers.
"Fair enough, anyways my motto was 'My weapon to kill you, is what you think my weapon is' cool, huh?"
POP!
Zeke gulped, and inflated his mouth before making a loud popping sound.
"Sounds incredibly unusual..."
"But do you know if my motto was advantageous or not?"
Zeke and Arteus had a staredown, one side was really trying to promote weapons while the other wasn't even paying attention, just like how he treats Firaga.
"I don't know, both? Because one it might signify that you are in full control if the weapon you picked is what the enemy thought making it seem like you read mind or that you're useless as to be easily predicted by an enemy"
"Splendid answer but-"
Zeke interrupted him mid sentence with a palm signalling Arteus to stop talking for a bit.
"I don't think you have every weapon possible, so you have to stop it with the lame old time stories"
Arteus's face twitched and his previously indifferent face turned into a smug look as he fixed a ring from his fingers.
"Say a weapon, I'll bring it out"
Arteus was provocatively waving his arms towards him, Zeke took this as a joke and casually named weapons that he could remember.
"Ulfberht, Schistofor, Pernach, Maul, Ahlspiess, Lochaber Axe, Arbalest"
Arteus slightly flicked his wrist and all those weapons appeared, Zeke was little shocked but he kept his calm and started giggling.
'What do you call that weapon from the 8th installment of a game with a yellow ostrich with a name based on chocolate?'
"A Gunblade..."
Arteus stared at his for a few seconds, cringing and shaking his head. Zeke mistook this for his failure though and stared chewing his teacher.
"Don't have one doncha? It's as expected, those things defy logi-"
Arteus flicked his wrist once more and different assortments of Gunblades or Gunknifes or Gunclaymores whatever they were were lined up in front of him. Zeke stopped his sentence midway and gave out his signature 'wtf is happening' beaming smile, while Arteus only kept the smug look on him.
"Believe me now, boy? Ohohoho!"
Zeke could only nod and listen to half an hour of lecture about weapons, in the end Zeke decided to question everything about how modern this modern world was.
"Why do you have so much gublades?"
"Because they efficient, I mean it's a blade and a gun at one thing! It can also come in various sizes so back when I was a official hitman these things were the most efficient weapons in the business"
Zeke only nodded and stared at the gunblades, he made a slight questioning noise before nodding on his own.
"I want a gunblade! two of them!"
Arteus smirked and stared at the apprentice in front of him who was slowly turning out to be a mini version of himself, minus the shaved head.
"Very well! Good choice my apprentice! Ohohohoho!"
...
Zeke, was laying at his bed and staring at the roof when he suddenly had an epiphany. Zeke took out the two gun blades he was gifted by Arteus and carefully observed them from hilt to the tip. Zeke was a genius, if his high MAG didn't say so otherwise and because of that he knew every nook and cranny of how things work and theory of how things should work.
"I wonder..."
Zeke pointed the gun at his walls and carefully aimed, but he didn't shoot, instead he passed fire through his fingers and carefully carefully carved an intricate magic circle at the hilt of the gunblade. He smiled before aiming it once more, this time however his element seemed to have been absorbed by the barrel and into the bullet and from the tip of the gunblade appeared a magic circle. Zeke was elated at his experiments and continued to shoot it but...
PEW!
BOOOOOOGSH!
Zeke, despite being a fire mage was covered with charred debris and had a beaming smile while biting his lips. The wall where he aimed at was obliterated, the destructive power of a top tier gunblade, top tier magic carving and top tier mana was simply too much. But this was enough, seeing as how magic bullets seemed to have a little more charm when given actual element he was prepared to explain this so he immediately went down to his basement that he had created for the sake of...umm, secrets.
ROAR!
Just as Zeke arrived, a lesser demon flailed around in panic trying to escape the chain while roaring at Zeke. He gave it a smile before carving yet another magic circle at his gunblade and pointing it at the demon, he hesitated a bit but he managed to pull the trigger.
PEW!
SSSSSHHHH!
ROAR!
3 different distinct noises reverberated throughout the basement and when Zeke opened his eyes, the demon was turned to ash via holy element. In truth all Zeke did was practically bless his gunblade and enhanced the bullet as well with holy fire turning it into a demon slaying gunblade but despite those, he never expected the effect of his bullet to completely disintegrate a demon and he could only sigh in disappointment to the loss of his demon.
"I'll miss you...Mr.D #69"
He then started skipping on the way out with his two fearsome gunblades dangling, this twin guns would forever change the way gunblades are used and change the meta of the 3 realms.
...
Lower Realm, Mastavata, Zeke's Bedroom.
A few months later
YAWN!
A tired Zeke slowly stretched his arms out and stared at the window, he glanced at the wall that was previously busted but was mended quickly and it is also where he ironically decided to display his fearsome gunblades. He took them and placed them in his inventory, after being reminded by Firaga to use her for once. Zeke had a brief reminiscence about the past 5 years and laughed wholeheartedly at everything that has happened, he also had a slight look of loneliness that was masked by solitude before he took did all the essentials. He didn't wear his usual priest in training outfit but instead a red long sleeved polo and a white blazer with golden outlines and the logos of the 7 capital in it's chest pocket, the pants were also white giving him more of a noble look instead of a student and his black hair that he managed to regrow tied into a ponytail made him look a little more too majestic and beautiful?
"Why is it so white..."
He sighed and reluctantly went down to eat breakfast with his teacher, Arteus.
"Ohohoho! Looks like you're academy ready huh? Do you feel like making this old man proud?"
Zeke nodded slightly while chewing on a piece of bread.
"Then shame the other 3 cardinal's students with your genius, ok?"
"Sure..."
Arteus felt the aura of solitude emanate from Zeke and he gave one last smile before eating once more, letting the kid be.
