Endless blanket of darkness draped into my sight. I can't hear a sound, feel any surface nor it is hot or cold.
Everything was a void until cracks of light came through my vision.
"Angel! Wake up!" A very childish voice called out an unfamiliar name.
[Shut up!]
This one's head is ringing in pain
"Angel please open your eyes! Stop scaring us!" A low timbered voice of a young man was heard.
[I can't seem to speak, why can't they hear my shout]
"You brat!"
*PAK* A painful echo of flesh hitting my fragile cheeks was heard all through-out and there was a deafening silence that the rustle of leaves was extremely loud.
I barely opened my eyes and saw little malnourished kids aged four to nine and two adults huddled up, surrounding me on every side.
"W-what…?"
Aren't I supposed to be burned to death? Many thoughts ran unto my head until I can't seem to handle it all.
I grabbed my head because of the splitting pain but then something was amiss.
I brought down my hands in line to my sight. My fingers was painted with a dark red colour.
Blood.
It was blood.
"Argghhhh…!" due to my pained cry everyone around me frowned with a panic look in their eyes.
A young man came forward then grabbed my arm on both sides.
"Are you alright angel?!"
I just want to smack their heads right now, especially his. How could a bleeding person be alright? But I was in so much pain that I can't even utter a word to retaliate.
I held my head again. Holy Mother, I can't hold on any longer.
Darkness paid me a visit again
---
"Doctor is she going to be ok?"
A man barely twenty asked an elder in white coat with a stethoscope hanging on his neck.
"She is going to be fine after a few rest since there wasn't anything wrong with the results but we can't be sure until she wake up."
The doctor said in a calm manner.
*sigh*
"This is going to cost us a large sum of money!" A middle aged woman spouted after hearing that they have to stay in the hospital for a few more days.
The young man arched the edge of his mouth down when he heard her complain.
"You are thinking money this money that, how about the well-being of the child? Can't you knock it out? You even slapped her knowing her unstable condition!" His face reddened due to supressed anger boiling inside his chest.
"You can't blame me for her carelessness! She's the one who fell on that staircase!" she bantered but it never ended there, she continued.
"Of course money is important, how do you think we could run that orphanage on the verge of bankruptcy without the so little coins we have left? Now we have another drain we have fill up with and what? How about the rest of the children in that house if we spend it all in this stupid girl?!" She ranted
"I'll find a solution to this, maybe the government can cover her hospital bills." He said
"Let's just calm down…"
"mnnn…"
my consciousness came back to me
"Can't you tone it down a bit?" I asked using my feeble voice.
I opened my eyes and a ray of sunlight flashed blinding my vision. I tried to get up but I can't. My body feels heavy.
"Angel its ok, don't force yourself." A young man came up to me holding me down.
I gazed upon his young pleasant face, he's not handsome but he was not ugly either, he was nice to look at though, like a caring older brother.
It was just that he was not familiar to me.
I searched my memories but none came up with a face like his nor the middle aged woman with a scrunched up face in the back.
"Who are you?" I asked.
