A throbbing sensation pushed at the Latino-Caucasians skull, filling him with a sense of deep regret. ' Who the fuck told me to be so daring, isn't that Mikes job. What gave me the balls. I would gladly give them back.' Grabbing his head with both hands just praying for the damn migraine to go away. He cursed the system in his heart. 'Shouldn't it tell people about the side effects first.'
[Then the amount of applicants would decrease.] A cold robotic voice replaced the throbbing pain.
(Fuck! That's illegal!)
[That information only pertains to living beings. I am not a living being. Please do not compare me to such fragile things.] With the headache gone Alex moved his hands while cursing the hateful system. He could've sworn that it was much friendlier yesterday.
[Please do not be so ignorant as to think you've only been asleep for one day.]
(What do you mean.)
[Observe your surroundings.]
With that Alex stopped and looked around the room. It was very large, very white and very full of beds with people sleeping in them.
(How long have I been out?)
[I do not know as I was focused on other things. Enough of this now.
(NO! You tell me what the fuck is going on!)

[Get to it.]
(I don't want to.) If Alex was talking his voice would carry a hit of a whine. However he did not receive a response from the cold system.
(Tsk. Fine.) He inwardly sneered. Standing up with no problem, he noticed that despite being in a hospital gown he was not attached to any wires. He kept this in the back of his head. He took a whiff of the air noted that it was stale, but there was no scent of chemicals, old people, or death. However his body could move with no problem. Nothing like someone whose been laying down for at least 30 hours. He decided to take a look at his neighbor. It was a middle aged man that looked like he was going through midlife crisis.
"Hey, wake up." Alex shakes him hoping to get a response. But those hopes are quickly dashed as the man didn't even make a sound.
"Ugh. How long is this gonna take?" He asked the system but got no reply.
"Fine be that way." Alex searched quietly going from bed to bed shaking everyone to see even just a twitch of an eyelid but no luck. After ten minutes he was starting to get pissed. And gave out a shout even if no one would hear at least it was worth a try.
"Hey! Is Anyone Awake?!" Silence. "Anyone." … "Anyone at all." …
"Excuse me." A small voice emerged from behind him. It was a little girl about six or seven years of age.
"Oh, hello. Looks like it's just us two for right now."
<1/10>
"Hi, Mister, where are we?"
"Well that I don't know. I'm just trying to see if anyone else is awake right now."
"Oh, okay. Then can you help me find my mom?"
"Yes I'll help you."
Together they looked but lucky for them it didn't take nowhere as near as long as it did for Alex to find someone who was awake. The people who put them there weren't heartless as they put the Mother and daughter duo just three beds away from each other. The little girl climbed into the bed to try and wake the woman up but to no success.
(Fuck it's not like I can reject it anyway.) "Look, I don't know how to wake her up but I'll try okay."
"Thank you." At that moment they heard groaning. Alex gestured for the little girl to stay where she was while he took a look. A few beds down in the opposite row. A teenaged girl of sixteen or seventeen laid curled up. Approaching slowly. He gently tapped on her shoulder causing her to nearly jump out of her skin.
"Who are you? Where am I? What's going on?"
"My name is Alexander, but you can call me Alex. Don't worry we seem to be in a hospital of sorts. As for what's going on, the system might be the best thing to ask."
<2/10>
"I tried that, but all I got was some bullshit about an internal scan, stats, and skills."
"Okay that happened to me too. Wait it won't talk to you."
"I mean it did. But then after assigning me my stats like I'm some kind of video game character. It said something about preparing for an intro and then it didn't say anything."
"Okay thank you. Go sit by the little girl. I'm gonna see if there's anyone else that's awake." He pointed at the little girl that sat on her mothers bed.
"Okay." After that he resumed his search putting the new information on a self to be re-examined later. At this point his luck had really turned around. The slightly dark skinned man had found another six people and he was reaching the end. He received more information on the actions of the systems it seemed everyone was getting the cold shoulder as the system would scan them assign the stats and then tell them to wait. He was the only one to get a quest. Still lost in thought he didn't notice two people move in front of him until he received the Quest update.

'What,' Yanked out of his thoughts Alex looked up and saw two very familiar faces. Two brothers. A twenty something year old and an eighteen year old. Their about the same height but he was taller than both of them.
"Alex." The older of the two called out. His voice sounded friendly and yet accusatory at the same time. Like the many times he got him in trouble by exposing his stupid actions.
"Mike, Kell." He calls out to the two. Slightly wary of the retribution he would have to face.
