The start of the festivities

The next day of school came. Class 1A was chatting excitingly amongst themselves about the USJ incident.

"Everyone! Class is about to begin! Move to your seats!" Iida doing his job as the class rep started to order the class in a professional manner. It would have been perfect if not for the fact.

"You're the only one standing!." The class chorused.

Sliding the door open was Aizawa. "Good morning class."

Walking over to his desk, he drawled.

"Settle down. While it is impressive for you to survive your first villain encounter, your fight is not over yet."

While the class was skeptical about Aizawa's words, Max groaned at the obvious thing that would happen next. With a completely stoic face he said.

"… The UA sports festival is about to start."

'Why would you scare us like that!'

'… He's doing this on purpose.' Max ended with a facepalm.

After a lengthy discussion about the importance of the sports festival and several periods, it was lunch time.

"You're so lucky Shoji, people are bound to see your unique quirk." The electric quirk boy lamented while Shoji gave a more logical response.

"Sure but what matters is that I show them how useful I can be." Making Momo, Max and Itsuka nod in approval. Jiro decided to make a jab at Kaminari.

"Though, no doubt you'll make a scene too." He gave a frustrated sound at the jab.

"Speaking of making a scene, I'm sure Max will make quite a splash at the festival." Momo chipped in, making the group, besides him, nodded.

"Yeah, just looked at the way he manhandled those villains back then."

"I hate to say it dude but you're too OP."

"Yes, your ability to make quick decisions in battle and combat capabilities will make you the most formidable student in the festival." In turn, Jiro, Kaminari and Shoji voiced their opinions.

"… Maybe." A simple answer in his usual even tone making them sigh at the vague answer.

"Guys!" A wild Ochako appeared.

"I'm gonna do my best!" Pumping her fist in the air with a very intense look that was way different from her usual self.

"Yeah!" Itsuka cheered, affected by her enthusiasm.

"… yeah." Also pumping his fist in the air, Max was hoping to achieve the same level of energy they had.

"PTF! Haha! Dude, wh-what is with that face!" Denki cried out in laughter along with Jiro and Ochako, Momo giggled and even Shoji let out a small chuckle.

"… This wasn't supposed to be funny." Max deadpanned, making them laugh even harder. Momo also commented.

" T-The contrast between the two of you is very odd." She tried to hold in her chuckles but ultimately failing.

After school had ended, they tried to get through the door to go home but were stopped by a sea of students in front of the door. It turns out that they were there to see the infamous class that took on real villains in their first rescue training and Bakugou decided to antagonize them by calling the rest of them 'extras'.

Needless to say, they were not amused by that if what the purple haired boy that looks like he hasn't slept for three months says it's true. They were going into their little argument when someone pushed them to the side, making the both of them turned to him.

"Oi! You zombie faced bastard. What the hell are you doing?"

"While I hate to agree with Mr loud mouth here, what do you think you are doing? What, you're too good to hear what I have to say?"

Max stopped, slowly turning around to face them and looked at the two of them like they were idiots.

"… I'm going home, school ended. And you... It's cute of you to think that your 'declaration' is anything noteworthy. We came here to be heroes, if we didn't expect things like this to happen then we might as well go home from the start. It's highly illogical."

"… That also applies to the rest of you. If you're not here to give it your all... then move out of the way for someone who will. Heroism isn't something to be taken lightly." After addressing the crowd of students with a solemn look, his face immediately returned to its normal stoic one.

Whether or not they were intimidated by his words, they still opened up a way for him to go through while Itsuka followed him like nothing just happened.

"Tch!" Bakugou and Shinso both clicked at the same time making them glared at each other.

"Woah! That was so badass." Kirishima exclaimed while the rest of the class nodded along,

"It's the UA sports festival! The one time each year when our fledgling heroes compete in a ruthless grand battle! And I have a question for you folks, are you READY?!" Present Mic continued.

"First off! We have the miraculous rising stars who brushed off a villain attacks with their steely willpower!! The first years of the hero course!"

"It's class 1A!" The crowd went wild with cheers for the infamous class while they walked on confidently.

"Next off we have class..."

"Man, this is getting me pumped up for the festival. We'll just have to do our best then, right Max?" Itsuka nudged him.

"… Hn. Right." Max absentmindedly replied, busy looking around and thinking.

'… Should I stay low or not? Probably not... Maybe show them a few tricks? Hmm…'

"Now for the athlete's oath! Your student representative is..."

"From class 1A, Maxwell Moon!!" Making the boy himself surprised at the statement.

'… Ah shit here we go again.'

Strolling up the podium and facing the entire stadium, he said.

"… The athlete's oath… Like I said, if you're not here to give it your all then move out of the way for someone who will. This isn't for the faint of heart and weak willed ones. You've been warned. Let the games begin!" Ending the oath with a cruel smirk, he returned to his spot to wait for the first game while the rest of the students seemed a bit nervous due to his words while making some even more riled up.

"ALL RIGHT! LETS CRUSH THEM!" A particularly loud steel boy roared, cleary affected by his words.

The adults in the audience seats were discussing about him.

"Man, that kid is pretty intense, isn't he?"

"Yeah but he's right you know? Not giving your all seems kinda redundant if you want to compete in the sports festival." A lot of the nearby audience agreed with his words.

'… Good kid. Making sure the others understand what they're getting into.' A proud Aizawa thought with a small smirk that went unnoticed by Present Mic.

"Now, without any delay, let's get the first event started." Midnight's voice dragged their attentions to the big screen.

"The fateful first event this year is... This!"

"Obstacle course race." Itsuka muttered under her breath.
