Square One

"So this is the point from where the timeline diverts," Jade commented. They were back to the point where Jiwon changed the future: the day of the audition.

"Yes," KJ said in a grim tone. "What further stuff do I have to see? If it's about the four deaths I was supposed to face, then isn't it obvious? My grandfather will be the third one and the last one will be my...my unborn child."

Jade did not reply but his brows furrowed in worry. If only he could tell the truth now! But he wanted KJ to see it with his own eyes.

"KJ," Jade said. "Just trust me. There is something you need to know."

KJ opened his mouth to respond but he decided against it. Instead he turned towards his younger self.

Jiwon was hurriedly getting into his car. He was already late for the audition thanks to a panic attack he faced in the morning. He popped in some pills to calm his nerves. Clutching the steering wheel with his hands, he took deep breaths.
