One Year Later

"W-what?" Mi-Young silently stammered towards her father who had just announced that she was soon to be married off. Her mouth was left open slightly agape, shocked, surprised, whatever you want to call it.

"Mi-Young, why must I repeat myself? I said you are going to get engaged to Kwon Si Hyun and a month after the engagement, you two will be wedded."

"B-but Dad, I-I don't want to get engaged o-or married yet..." Mi-Young softly answered her father as she broke the eye contact and lowered her gaze down onto her father's freshly cleaned shoe. Mi-Young's mother walked up next to her father and Mi-Young had the tiniest bit of hope that her mother would defend her, but it was all shattered when she said nothing.

Mrs. Song had always silently supported her husband, never bothering to have her voice be heard. They had always talked it out with each other beforehand and then Mr. Song would announce the news to Mi-Young.

"Mr. Kwon and Si Hyun have been our long-time partner besides Mr. Kang. It's not like you don't know Si Hyun. You've known each other for 5 years."

"But Dad, I don't love Si Hyun Oppa."

"Nonsense child. You will learn to love him just like how you've been learning to take over the company. We need someone who we can trust our family business with. Once you and Si Hyun get married, we will merge both our companies into one so that we can extend our businesses and we will be able to gain more profits. Si Hyun has already agreed to this marriage."

Dad, I don't want to take over the company. I want to be a dancer!

Her mind would scream and yell out for her to come forth and confess her dream, but her mouth would stay closed.

"Yes, Father," Mi-Young softly agreed to her father before feeling her tiny beating muscle shivering into a million pieces.

"Good. Now, I've given Yumi an important responsibility for the next month. She is to take care of you and find you a dress for the engagement party. She will also be taking care of your skin, hair, and makeup. Make sure you run to her salon soon so you two can get some ideas in for what to wear and make yourself presentable by then. Do not embarrass me Mi-Young," her father let out sternly before walking out of the door, followed by Mrs. Song.

When the front door clicked shut, Mi-Young's legs gave up on her as she fell right onto the ground.

"Miss!" Mrs. Yoon, the housekeeper, hastily rushed to Mi-Young's aid.

"Are you alright Miss Mi-Young?"

Mi-Young was trembling, not in fear, but with anger. Her anger not directed towards her father or mother, but at herself. She was shaking with anger that she couldn't voice to her parents her true dreams. What she had always wanted to do.

And now after four years of just doing dance covers and never truly taking any dance lesson, her dreams were crushed.

Mrs. Yoon grabbed hold of Mi-Young's arm and help the poor shaking girl up.

"Should I help you to your room Miss?"

"Thank you, Mrs. Yoon, but I can manage from here," Mi-Young softly answers the elderly women before bowing to her and slowly dragging her feet up the stairs and into her room. She closed the door shut before finally walking over to her bed. She sat on the edge of her bed and took out her phone. She plugged in her headphone and turned on her music to help ease her.

BTS and their music, Jung Hoseok...

They all had always cheered her up no matter how upset she was.

But this time, instead of feeling blissful, all she felt was a pain deep inside her heart. Pain and the real reality of her dreams that will never come true. She took out her headphones from each ear, before finally letting the built up tears fall down her cheeks. She let her sobs be heard as she painfully cries her broken heart out into her palms.

How was she going to make her dream come true now?

Song Mi-Young

When I had finally calmed down from my mental breakdown, I finally got out of bed and decided to shower and fulfill my father's wish. After I had taken a shower and covered my swollen red eyes with makeup, I left the house and went to Yumi's Beauty Salon.

I pull up in front of Yumi's store and parked my car. I checked myself out first in the mirror to make sure Yumi wouldn't suspect anything before finally getting out of the car and making my way inside.

"I'm here," I announced as soon as I enter through the door, only to be greeted by silence. Yumi was nowhere to be seen.

"Yumi. Kang Yumi!" I called out through the store. Not a person was in sight nor was there any customer, which I found to be quite odd as the salon was usually booked with clients.

Finally, the door to the backroom opens up and Yumi exits the room along with a chubby man dressed in a nice and clean suit. He oddly looked familiar, but I couldn't see his face clear enough before he's turned his back to me.

"Thank you so much for the offer, Mr. Bang. I'll read through the contract and give you a reply to your proposal as soon as I can," Yumi spoke to the male. He put out his hand waiting for a handshake and Yumi grabs hold firmly before they shook once and broke apart.

My ears perked at the conversation that my friend was having. She must have struck a deal with this man and a small smile made its way onto my lips. I couldn't help but be happy for her, who was able to live out her dream unlike me, who was soon to be wedded to a man I don't even love.

Well, I do love him, just not in a romantic way. Si Hyun was more like a brother to me and Yumi. He entered our lives a little later, but he still became a close friend.

"Thank you for your time, Miss Kang. I do hope you'll accept and join our team. I'll be waiting to hear back from you."

My eyes grew ten times in size when I saw him turn around to exit the building. It was Bang PD!

"Hello! Hi! Nice to meet you! I'm Song Mi-Young!" I blurted out a little too loud. My voice was full of excitement while bowing profusely at the man. I couldn't believe it. Bang PD, the creator of BTS was standing right in front of me.

"Oh, nice to meet you, too young lady. If you'll excuse me, I have another place I need to get to in an hour."

Bang PD nods towards me and I overly bows with much appreciation and joy that I just met him. Once he was out of the door I screamed with joy and rush towards my best friend.

"Oh my god! Do you even know who he is?!"

"Uh, apparently I don't. Who is he to cause you to be so excited?"

"Yumi! Seriously? That was Bang PD! He's the creator of BTS! How could you not know who he is?!"

"Um, maybe because I'm not obsessed with BTS like you?"

My excitement had suddenly left when I heard my best friend's reply and my eyebrows furrowed at Yumi.

"Yumi, you of all people know how important BTS is to me. Especially Jung Hoseok. He was my inspiration to start dancing. I fell in love with dancing because of him," I spoke softly, hurt visible in both my voice and face.

I could feel the tiny stabbing pain in my heart. My dream wasn't about to come true because of the engagement and marriage. And now my best friend, who knew how much I love to dance, was carelessly throwing bullets at my already opened wound.

Yumi must have realized her mistake. Her face saddens as if she remembers why I came to her store in the first place. She immediately pulls me into a hug before apologizing while rubbing onto my back.

"I'm sorry Mi-Young. You know I didn't mean it like that."

I let my body sink into my friend's comfort before letting more tears fall. Tears that I thought I had already cried out of. I bawl into Yumi's while clinging desperately on for dear life. So much for trying to hide my puffy eyes from her.

"It's okay Mi-Young. Cry to your heart's desire. I wish I could talk some sense into Mr. Song. If only he knew how much you're hurting because of his decisions."

I shake my head furiously into her chest. My father is the definition of stubborn. Once he's made up his mind, there's no way in changing it.

"He'll never approve of me becoming a dancer because of his company. And to make matters worse, I wasn't born as a boy so he loves me less," I start to weep even harder than I already have been.

"Mi-Young, you know that's not true. Your father loves you."

I let out a little laugh because I find the last sentence that she had spoken out to be quite the opposite. My thoughts drifted off to my talk with my father earlier.

-Make yourself presentable by then.

-Do not embarrass me Mi-Young.

I pull away from her embrace before wiping away my tears. I let out a loud sigh before speaking.

"We should probably start picking out dresses and hairstyles for my engagement party."

I walk by Yumi and made my way towards one of her reclining hydraulic chairs. I sat down waiting for my friend to show me some pictures of some engagement updos and gowns. But instead, she walks to my side with her phone and a familiar tune plays for my ears.

'Hey you, what's your dream? Hey you, what's your dream? Hey you, what's your dream? Is that all your dream is?"

I smile at Yumi's attempt to make me feel better. But once she starts to sing along to Namjoon's classic Yamma ni ggumeun mwoni, I burst out laughing so hard.

Yumi only knew of BTS through me. She never really paid much attention to the boys and she still gets their names mixed up. I've had to correct her too many times now that I've just gotten used to the fact that she mixes Taehyung and Namjoon up because they both have deep voices. Or that sometimes she thinks Jin and Taehyung are the same people. The only member that she recognizes is Hoseok since he's my bias.

She puts the phone in my face and the screen shows BTS on Mcountdown. The same stage that I have seen Hoseok and fallen in love with dancing. Soon I found myself bobbing my head along with the music as my laughter dies down. I was singing along and dancing along.

Yumi loudly cheered me on with howls and whoops that made my heart beat even faster. I close my eyes and imagined myself on a stage with the blinding spotlight shining down on me. I turn to my right to see Hoseok smiling brightly at me.

We were both centered stage as he held out his hand to me. I casually take his hand in mine before I'm being pulled and spinning right into his chest. Our body moving together across the stage before we break apart to dance in a synchronized dance routine that I just made up in my head. Soon the rest of the BTS members comes in to join us two and we dance together on one beat, one tune.

My vision bursts when the song ends and Yumi applauds extra loud for me.

"Wow! You just created your own dance moves, didn't you? I was watching you dance along with the video. Your moves were in sync with the boys for the first half of the song and then it suddenly changed and you were moving differently but still hit every beat. You're a born dancer Mi-Young!"

I smiled through my heavy breaths at my best friend.

"Thanks for cheering me up. I really needed that."

I could feel the rush of blood throughout my veins. My heartbeat was not slowing down and it felt so good to dance myself away, free of any stress or worries.

"No problem. It's funny how you mentioned that you weren't born a boy earlier. You would have passed auditions for Mr. Bang's entertainment with flying colors."

"Wait, what did you just say?!" I said with much enthusiasm, not sure if I heard her correctly. In the four years that I've followed BTS, Bighit had never announced an audition so I thought I may have heard Yumi inaccurately.

"I said you would have passed auditions for Mr. Bang's entertainment agency. He was here earlier to offer me a job as a stylist and makeup artist. He also gave me a card with information about auditions for his agency. He asked if I had any friends or family who would like to audition. The only person I could think of was you, but Mr. Bang only accepts boys as trainees so you were out of the question."

"Band PD is holding auditions for Bighit?! Where's the card?" I literally screamed at Yumi.

"Whoa calm down Mi-Young. I left it in the backroom. I'll go grab-"

I cut her off by running ahead to the room that I saw her and Bang PD come out from earlier. I rush towards Yumi's small officelike desk that she had in the room. I searched the top of the desk with both hands before finally spotting the audition card. I brought the card up close to my face and read what was written on it.

'Bighit Entertainment is now looking for individuals with talents and passion. Bighit will support you and your dream.'

"No freaken way! Bighit Entertainment is really holding auditions!" I yelp out in excitement. All thoughts of my father and engagement flew right out of my head and now the only thing I could see was this card that was currently in my hand. My heart pumps extra fast as I read out loud the next part of the card.

"Apply online or in-person at our site. Boys only."

Is this it? Have I really just gotten a chance to finally achieve my dream? Not only will I get to dance, but I just might meet Hoseok too. I couldn't help but squeal in excitement. I can apply, no I will apply. This is my only chance. I have to audition.

I was happily jumping with joy when my happiness was cut short.

"Wait a minute," I brought the card back up and reread the last thing on the audition card.

'Boys only.'
