Spying on the players (3)

After looking through all the notifications, most of the players that had yet been let in, flooded the city and the poor shopkeepers and locals were crowded by players, demanding them to give a quest to them. The local wolfmen got nervous and just spammed them with some repetitive quest that stubbornly were the same and just gave a few experience points. Afterwards they ran away and hid in their houses, not wanting to get this harried again. This was the reason that only the first players got a quest and the ones who were late, were laughed at and they had to search for new NPCs.

I jumped down the roof and walked to the inner city, while the players first had to gather reputation points with a particular NPC that would then give him something to do and if he did good, the NPC would take him inside the city. As I was one of the only remaining wolfmen on the streets, a crowd of players immediately started towards me. Blocking my way forward, they started to fight among themselves. "My bamboo clan is the best and will all greatly reward you if you let me and my clanmates have this NPC's quest!" Another one of the players started shouting: "No way! My Wolf pack is the ultimate clan here in the continent. Join me and receive endless benefits. The only thing you have to do is clear the way!" These were the two major groups in the big crowd that had started to become bigger with each passing second. As you weren't able to walk through the body of other players, only a few were capable of standing near the NPC and therefore getting the quest.

A bloody spectacle started and immediately every player present had to choose either a side or back away. For me, this was pretty amusing, as I wouldn't even give them a quest. Suddenly a flash of thought appeared in my mind. Why not use the players to have a bit of fun. And they surely won't be able to say no to me. And after all I had to practice the quest-giving thing for sure. If it had to be an immediate quest, I had to be quick and wouldn't be good to have minutes to set up a single quest.

Quietly trying to make them listen, I wished they had heard me, but well, dreams don't come true always. Only most of the time, as an almighty being. "HEY!" Some players who were just about to slice other players froze and even the ones with the bloody wounds stopped crying and screaming. An awkward silence ensued and everybody looked at me, shocked that I would dare to interrupt player's business. "Dear players, as you refer to yourself, please calm down. I know it had been a rough first week and you all are desperate in finding quests for you and your clans. But please, let there be some peace and order. You all are scaring the shit out of the locals and they surely won't come to you again after you forced them to give you quests. We are sentient as well, you know. This isn't just a world for the player's entertainment, but as well my, our home world. So-" Some daring player that didn't want to wait for me to finish my speech and truly asked me to finally kill him: "Ok, ok, have you finished yet. Just give us the quest. I am tired of such speeches. I am here to explore the city on behalf of my clan. So scram or give me the quest." I went quiet and looked at him with a snarl and compressed eyes. Somehow my killer instinct was activated, which was something unique to barbarians and wolfmen and didn't let one think straight, but gave them double the power they normally wielded and it was only able to be stopped after one of the two was killed. My eyes got bloodshot and the players noticed that something was wrong and backed away. The arrogant player was already running after he saw me getting mad at him. With a powerful leap, I slashed him with my long claws and they immediately ripped him apart, not giving him a chance at all. But I had to admit, he was kind of stupid, offending an NPC that was multiple times his level. But out of his sight, I must have been some random mob that was just living in the city and didn't have any military experience. He must have thought that because I wasn't with the military, I wasn't able to fight? Well, that was his problem. Looking at my notification with my once again clear mind, I saw the kill notification.

[Kill: Falling Star ]

Seeing the name, I realised that they had the choice to choose such ridiculous names for in the game. When I let them live in here, I will let them choose another name. The other players around me looked first at me and then at the corpse of the former living player. With a gulp they thought that they really shouldn't offend the NPCs in the game. With a respectful voice they said to me: Dear mister, uhm, what's your name mister? There are only question marks." Apparently, he had scanned me. With a tired voice but still following my alia, I said to them with a sigh: "Guys, I am Kis and as a real meaning tip, respect the NPCs and treat them as equals. They are as smart as you are, if not smarter." I clicked on my Quest marker, and a tabula with different types of quests came for me to create. First I had to look at the surrounding dungeons, then I clicked on a basic quest. I had to give a description, content and a reward for them. ~Create quest and ~Create equipment (18*basic sword)

[Quest offered by 'Kis'

Description: A basic quest that allows you to hunt outside with a sword that is given to you.

Content: Slay the spiders in the dungeon 'Spider's lair' and bring Kis all the magical spider silk drops

Reward: 4 bronze coins and 10 experience for each magical spider silk]

It was pretty much a scam, but since I needed the rare and more resilient spider silk to forge the god's armour, I could just as well order the players to get it done for me. Handing the few players that had stayed each a basic sword, I gave them as well the quest and sent them off for good. This time, I was able to disappear completely in a dark alley. There I once again went on the avatar selection and chose to disappear into a cloud sequence for avatar selection.
