Really! Something unimportant that helped me more than it helped him, decreased my de-buff? I don't have anything against it. Maybe I should do it more often? Not now. Now I want to go shopping. The herbs in that backwater city on that holy mountain, were meaningless, except if you took enough of them. What I want is effective and useful herbs that helped me with cultivating my rebirth cultivation technique.
Unfortunately, it was night and my eyes still glowed in the darkness. But wait, if they already saw me as an evil spirit, I could directly use it to my favour. Let's become a robber. Once I knew which ones were the most useful, I could create them by myself infinitely.
How to find the shop? Let's ignore the guards and just find the next one and after that the next and so on. I jumped down the roof and landed down there with no sound at all, since I bent the knees and feathered my jump. The Eastern people lived in the most eastern part on the eastern continent, but in comparison to the wolfmen, they seemed to be much more civilised. Just look at the streets and the houses. The streets on which I currently walk are more beautifully and with more effort made than the ones in my old world. They only made them with plump cement and they were grey.
Here however, they made it with graceful and carefully measured patterns. It was surely a sacrilegious act to walk with dirty shoes on them. They looked so clean! No speck of dust could be seen on them. I strolled on the clean streets, looking into the shop-window to find out what the different shops sold. It was pretty hilarious. Most of the time they sold either weapons or creams for the body. They sold creams for wrinkles, skin and care for pimples. Those were the basic creams, but there were still countless other creams. In the weapon shops, they sold all different kinds of weapons. But there was no magic shop to be found. Apparently, they replaced magic with cultivation and techniques to fight. Those cultivations included weapon cultivation for example the sword cultivation. The body cultivation, which was the body tempering cultivation and so on. And lastly, the spirit cultivation, which was a special method for which you had to first meld with a spirit and then you would be able to cultivate the mind to attain psychic powers and shield against them or other bad influences.
Suddenly I heard a patrol of guards come my way and I hid in the corner of a roof. "What a nice night. No masters that went out during the night. Last night, the patrol of my brother caught the inheritor of the floating dragon sect, sneaking out of the house of the good lady Miu. He got a good beating by his father." The ten or so guards walked past me without noticing anything. "What a despicable person. Just because his father is the ruler of the capital city of us cultivators, he can't use his position to peek at the beauties of other clans. If I had been his father, I wouldn't just have given him a beating, but would have grounded him for at least a month." One of the guards might have been of the same family as that lady Miu or one of her admirers, since he was so indignant over something like this.
A few seconds later they walked out of my reach of hearing. That was about 50 metres away, without the amplification of the beast's hearing trait or my godly hearing skill. And that was in the volume they were speaking. If it is someone screaming, I could hear him across a whole city with my current hearing. That was as well the problem when the alarm bells rang in the wolfmen capital.
I walked along the beautiful street again and soon, I saw a shop which was the reason I came here. Floating dragon palace, that was the name of the gigantic palace from which the strong scent of herbs came from.
Trying to lockpick the lock to not make that much of a commotion, I spent over ten minutes trying but it didn't work at all. The only positive thing was, I gained the lockpicking skill. The unfortunate thing was, my time sleeping at the source of Yggdrasil didn't charge the skill's mastery. So, it was at the beginner stage, level 1. -Sigh-
"I tried" murmuring to myself, I resolved to kick in the door. With a simple kick, the door fell. Again, with a dell, but since it wasn't a special door that was made to withstand force, it splintered into tiny pieces after it crashed against the person sitting across the door as a supposed guard.
Can't be that much of a guard if he is knocked out like that, right?
Not my problem anymore. Let's get those herbs and go away. My cultivation should start soon. And I still had thing to arrange with that stupid CEO of the gaming company in real life.
Concentrating again on things at hand, I walked past the wooden hallways that verged on tiny rooms, with only tiny paper walls between them. Slowly opening them, I saw a young woman sleeping on a flat mat on the floor, with a sword at her side. Seeing that, I slowly closed the door again and sneaked to the next door. Everything in here was smelling the same in here. It was so stupid for my nose to not just find the herbs room. And now that I had realised that this palace wasn't just for herbs but a home for the whole floating dragon sect.
Next, I silently opened another door, but it was just an old man in it. This went on and on, but never did I see the room with all the precious herbs and medicine. Finally, after nearly completing a round through the whole palace, I found it. The room where the sect stored all their herbs. I don't know why but it seemed to easy to just walk in and steal them. They at least had to plant a guard. Probably they trusted in the sect's reputation that nobody would steal from them or they might trust in the 'reliability' of the guards, which just comical, since they only found things if they would seriously search for something, but that was human nature. Only if you search something, will you find it.
Opening all the closets and vases, I put everything in my infinite inventory. That was some big haul.
For the next thing, I needed something to write. An evil glint appeared in my eyes. Let's give those mortals a teaching. I looked at my watch and saw that I still had enough time to do what I wanted to do to give them a frightful lesson for being way too arrogant. Hopefully, this will decrease my de-buff effect as well, since I will certainly change the mind of these people as well.
I sneaked past the closets and took out a small dagger and a vial. I then sneaked in every room where there was someone in and after casting a sleep spell on each of them so that they won't wake up. I pierced them slightly with the dagger so that the blood from their vessels flowed into my vial. Doing this to everybody, I at last sought the room of that young lady and put her on my shoulder, carrying her to the empty garden in the middle of the palace. After casting a spell that summoned vines that held her body up in the sky, I smeared the blood all around her on the ground as if it was a ritual that took place. Then, I wrote something in the air with the blood and enchanted it, so it didn't fall down.
Arrogance is paid back dearly! :-)
It was pretty macabre if you looked at it like this. The bloody smiley and the woman, dangling from vines with blood flowing down her body. "Muahaha-chm-chm" I tried to laugh maniacally, but failed and choked on my own laughter. "Well, I have to practice this more or I will become a laughingstock when I do it in public. -Sigh- I will just go and sort out my herbs. Since I have nothing better to do now..."
I then walked away and let the sect have their fun in the morning.
