Bandits 2

Du Lan was now thinking about how brave his man was to say such words while Xiao Fan at the same time is setting his sights towards the fight happening above them.

Xiao Fan wanted to go there and fight.

Fight with the rest of them not just stand down here waiting if an imaginary enemy would still be hiding behind them.

Currently from what he saw the group, they were fighting, in the end, was only a little more proficient in war than the mutant tribes he had fought against.

These groups could make an ambush, and it was also one of increasing resistance bit by bit trying to figure the enemy strength before fighting for real.

Yet for Xiao Fan, this meant that as they already had such a plan, they wouldn't have added into it something like a group of people waiting to stab them in the back.

Too complicated.

Thinking about this being the truth wasn't hard.

And so after a few minutes of standing next to Du Lan, who was again focussing on her bow, he informed the decision to move upwards.

Du Lan didn't mind changing into a better spot.

For her, the enemy had figured out wherefrom she was shooting and were avoiding her line of sight like a plague, so changing place suited her.

Now in understanding, both of them took a path the elites made before, scaling it upwards so that they would also be on the top of the ravine.

At this point, they had scaled a half a kilometre easily towards the top.

Below them, there were only dead bodies of the bandits, and if one would fall, even death for a cultivator was possible.

But in such conditions where there was no pressure to scale upwards than the winds flowing in the ravine was on them, it would be a wonder to fall down.

So it didn't take long for them to get on top of the ravine and see how the real fight was going on.

Xiao Fan first looked for Qian Ki.

To see how she was faring in the fight, well, she was doing well. The girl was in the middle of it, making sure that she was in a spot where blood flowed the most.

She was even actively trying to get more blood flow since Qian Ki unlike everyone else who went for a clean was Qian Ki crazed enough that she wanted a little more than a clean cut.

In simpler terms.

This meant that the Qian Ki he saw was ripping open other Body Activation realm practitioners with her bare hands or slicing them into bits with her red sword by thrusting her sword's bone spikes into the enemy and them ripping intestines out with them.

Xiao Fan didn't know what to say to this, too brutal.

So he changed to look the general situation that was, for now, going in their favour.

The bandits, although nearly the same level couldn't hold out elites who had been drilled their entire life.

Zheng Chao was another thing, however, was the Baron, who hadn't become a Baron through combat was struggling against the enemy commander who had his body filled with scars.

However, when Xiao Fan was gazing into the enemies comprehending how the things were going, he noted a lesson from Du Lan and what she was doing.

She, unlike him, wasn't thinking so much, she was choosing to attack.

Realising that he spent so much time on perceiving the situation compared to actually doing something to it, Xiao Fan charged into the melee, noting not to do that in the future.

There was no need to think so much.

Thinking right now might even be detrimental, for although he was one of the weakest fighters taking part here, his effort was still needed.

The ravine had only been some thirty meters at points in width, so jumping to the other side wasn't a bid deal so much as dealing with the welcoming committee.

Their scaling of the wall had been noted the enemy, who had also responded to it by sending a few spearmen to block Xiao Fan's crossing.

A few spears at the other end of the jump really could discourage one from jumping over.

Yet Xiao Fan didn't seem to care about this.

He jumped across the ravine, not fearing that he would be a sitting duck for the enemies to pluck holes into.

This was because he had an idea. An idea of how to cross the ravine, so that the opposition waiting for him would be the one bearing consequences from this.

Xiao Fan's plan was to throw the Rising Ruler at one of the enemies waiting for him, and then hope that Du Lan would work in tandem with him and so expel a few of them.

It was successful.

As Xiao Fan in the middle of the ravine, throwing his sword at the man right in front of him could feel how on his sides, a few arrows were going straight past him.

The three people waiting for him should be at the same grade as Xiao Fan or lower.

Yet that didn't matter a lot when the two people on his sides were pierced by arrows they hadn't even seen coming at them from behind Xiao Fan.

The third person in between these now-dead fellow bandits couldn't react to this anyhow before he noticed the sword coming at him, and for him the yellow sword coming at his chest made him dodge from reflex.

The sword was dodged.

But during that dodge, he had forgotten to point his spear at the incoming attacker, letting Xiao Fan cross the ravine, and then only a second later a third arrow came nailing the person's head.

The arrow from the Serpent's Bone Bow penetrated his skull without any major problem, cracking open the person's brain while the tip of it came out from the other side.

The person now skewered on an arrow from ear to ear couldn't do much before he felt everything dimming down and the grip on his spear becoming weak.

Meanwhile, as the man died.

Xiao Fan ran to his sword that had missed the target and had landed into the middle of the melee still ensuing.

Xiao Fan, running there thought about going there for a moment and retrieving his sword, however, dismissed it, as everyone there was at the Body Strengthening realm, meaning death for him.

So he stopped running and opted to take the spear that had not fallen into the ravine.

This fight he would fight with a spear.

Of course, Xiao Fan had no idea how to use a spear.

Still, when he was sure that he was holding his hands the right way, he found himself an enemy to try it on.

From there on out Xiao Fan tried his best with the spear which wasn't good at all compared to the sword skills he had currently. Plus the spear was no Body weapon either, so dealing damage was problematic.

All these things stacked against him.

Xiao Fan needed a lot of help to get out of sticky situations from Du Lan, who was keeping one eye on Xiao Fan so that no one could get him.

And this had truly saved Xiao Fan once.

As while fighting Du Lan's arrow hit another person, a second bandit, who had come behind Xiao Fan fighting someone and was already lifting his sword at him.

Xiao Fan, himself only noticed how a second later a person fell next to him from behind which scared the shit out of Xiao Fan, who hadn't noted him at all.

After this had passed.

He looked at the back of the person, lying dead next to him, then sighed in relief as there was an arrow that had the tail mark, which was Du Lan's.

A silver feather.

'Truly the best investment I have ever made' Xiao Fan thought inside his head.

By the time this had occurred the fighting around him was slowly becoming exceedingly one-sided.

The bandits weren't getting any better possibility of winning anymore, and this been noted by said bandits leader.

The commander, who was still fighting against Zheng Chao, reacted to losing, by deciding it would be better for himself to escape before anything would harm his own life.

This, of course, meant that he didn't say anything about retreating, but made his way towards the ravine alone where he was certain he would lose any Liang Dynasty diplomat.

During the fight, the commander had realised easily who the people were. Every person here, although not having the insignias of the Liang Dynasty were still fighting straight from their books.

This was also strengthened by the knowledge that no other faction around here had this coherent force.

So the only possibility was that he had ambushed a group of escorting Liang Dynasty guards and some diplomat.

All this in his mind he was sure that if he didn't leave now and sell this information would his days being a bandit leader be over, so without further notice, he disengaged from Zheng Chao.

However, as the man was running.

He noticed Xiao Fan, a person who was holding the spear his hands in the wrong spots, and at that moment, he realised who they were escorting.

'Oh, a noble has come to play here?' He noted to himself, then adjusting his course to sweep past Xiao Fan.

He was trying to see if he could grab him or at least get every last bit of information how he looked, for the person mustn't be anything else than a noble.

Likewise, Xiao Fan noted how he was feeling a little too strong of a pressure focussing on him from the back of his neck. Turning to see, he found himself being bomb rushed by a person he had no reason to be dealing with.

Luckily for him however the elites guarding him had foreseen this happening so the moment Xiao Fan was under attack did they reform so that they could answer.

The bandit commander reacted to this, becoming a little disappointed.

He couldn't grab him, seeing as the two elites were coming to a stop him from doing so, joining in there was also an archer who noted him and began to annoy him.

Cursing his back luck.

He still runs towards Xiao Fan, then only when he had every last info about his looks does he turn in a 90-degree angle, so that the elites couldn't stop him from leaving while not risking him going on Xiao Fan.

When Xiao Fan saw the bandit captain changing course form between the guards who had come to protect him, he also saw Zheng Chao running behind him trying to catch up.

But he was tired already.

So their group could only watch as the bandit captain jumped down into the ravine.

Where soon a dust cloud could be seen when he hit the ground, after which a silhouette of a person could be seen running away.

Meanwhile, as this was going on.

The bandits, who lost their boss routed in seconds, running for the hills and the forests behind them while the elites let them go.

Their captain got away, so letting the small fish go away was the sensible decision; moreover, they wanted to save energy, for they couldn't stop running anymore since their location was now known.

They didn't even bother checking these bandits. What could a group of bandits have anyway?

So before long, they were again jogging towards the direction they had been going for the last few days.

In actuality, they did stop for a moment as Qian Ki needed to change clothes.

Seeing as her last clothes were now completely red, and though she might not mind it herself, she didn't want to be seen like this by Xiao Fan, so she changed into a fresh set of clothes.

After that, one could say that this encounter was over and they could move forward again before something else would happen to come and slow them down.
