Bit of Wit 4

Knowing that he had little free time to get in there and help or save Zhuan An, he put all his focus into riding a horse. And so when he got to her horse, he took the spear, jumped onto the saddle, and kicked the horse to charge forward into the swamp, straight towards the tentacles surrounding her.

Meanwhile, on the side of Zhuan An, the girl wasn't feeling too hot right now, and for a good reason, there might be no one wanting to be in her spot except a certain woman on the whole Ohin Continent; nevertheless, she didn't want this. She totally didn't want to be killed by the monster that was gathering its tentacles around her.

Yet despite her wants the tentacles even from where they should be occupied with Xiao Fan were now coming to her. This notion of the tentacles coming from behind also brought her the thought of where was he? Surely he hadn't died? But if he was alive, where was he?

Most people might not focus on such things in a life and death situation like she was having currently, yet she goes against all reason and was thinking that what had happened to him. This thinking of hers was also slowly sealing her doom under these tentacles that weren't decreasing in numbers no matter how many she brought down with her hubby's sword.

'Where is he? Is he okay? Will he come and save me? Please save me' She was thinking completely other thoughts when considering that she was beginning to be a punching bag for the tentacles overpowering her with brute force.

¨Faster. Faster¨ Her saviour was indeed coming, and he was constantly trying to get the horse to go faster first on the land and then in the swamp.

Thankfully the type of horse that was under him could be said to be warhorse, so it was much larger than a regular workhorse, and so some light swamp that he wanted to charge over was only a speed pump nothing else if the rider so wished.

To praise the horse, even more, it didn't seem to mind charging into something what could be perceived as some level of a nightmare; furthermore, the horse didn't seem to care about the swampy tentacle monster if given an order to ride forward, as it did so, not caring when Xiao Fan riding it was attacked by the monster seeing that the other piece almost secured was now gaining relief.

However, due to being so limited in its actions on this low side of the swamp, it could only do so much with these insignificant tentacles that were more of a burden than something of value.

Still, it could only curse and sometimes groan when feeling that Xiao Fan had lanced one of its many tentacles while riding at max speed towards the ever closing arena around Zhuan An.

Xiao Fan, himself was a complete newbie to anything to do with riding not mentioning cavalry duties, however, due to being in the current situation, there was nothing else to do than fight on onwards. Hack and thrust with the Body Weapon of Zhuan An that seemed to be meant for hacking rather than thrusting since the spear tip at the end couldn't really be called a normal spear tip.

Fei Sun had a normal speartip on her spear. Then there was the spear of Zhuan An, which was.... well would one call this a spear? At least not in a traditional sense would someone call a stick that had a sword at the end of it a spear, yet it was no sword either? His confusion when seeing this thing for the first time had been high and gathering information about it had he heard the specification.

Her spear was something called an ahlspeiss or an awl pike, so even from the start, it was no sword nor a spear, it was a pike, and controlling this thing was weird. The length of it made it good for what he was doing, but its rareness of it made it basically impossible to be trained for this, well that was half of the thing, for neither was anyone trained to fight against this monster.

What would one do? Take a stance against a sword because you fear the hacking? Good job you got yourself skewered. Take a stance against a spear since you fear being poked into your heart? Good job you are now missing your legs. Or so he had heard in from the user.

Of course, he believed that, but then again, against this opponent, there was no testing nor was there any want to test as he rammed the horse into the wall of tentacles trying to surround Zhuan An.

Zhuan An, the person on the other side of this wall, walling herself in it saw how the light was coming to her again, then taking a look towards the light could she see how her saviour had come.

¨Xiao Fan!¨ She called in delight when seeing that the saviour was her hubby riding her horse into this mess. Moments ago, she had been feeling how this was the end of it, but now seeing him, she was reinvigorated to fight again, and this time she didn't need to think more.

¨Get on deckhand! We are abandoning this ship!¨ Xiao Fan spoke as he rode into the middle of it where Zhuan An had been holding out, yet he still found the time to act like a pirate.

¨Now is not the time!¨ She for once didn't feel like acting with him, she immediately jumped onto the back of the horse, and then took her awl pike that Xiao Fan was giving to her in exchange for the sword.

The very moment she got her awl pike Zhuan An got to show why she didn't work like most other disciples but instead honed her skill with a single rare weapon. The Ahlspeiss was her weapon, and she was a master of it. Xiao Fan and his hacking and lancing with it was in all reality a trifling playground play compared to what she was doing with it while standing on the horse.

She would smoothly move around Xiao Fan riding the horse, she at one point might be on top of the head and the next second be standing just above the tail; however, that was only a play to show her skill, the real work happened with the thin blade at the end of the pike which with she could show devastating damage.

The awl pike she had, of course, was a Body Weapon so the blade wasn't going to shatter no matter how hard she would hit it, and thanks to the blade itself being so thin the pike was also light, giving her much needed speed and control over the long weapon.

Nevertheless, the fact was that when under this umbrella that Zhuan An was performing around the two did Xiao Fan after the breakout from the siege become a glorified driver of a horse, for no tentacle was getting close enough anymore for a sword to have reach.

¨Things would have been much easier if you kept that pole with you¨ He spoke after he had gotten the two of them out of there, and was now riding towards the other horse.

¨Should I also take account that we would meet something like that there?¨ She answered with a question while pointing her finger towards the giant swamp monster in the distance.

Xiao Fan taking a look at the monster said ¨Fair enough¨

¨Wonder why the Bald Eagle Dynasty doesn't exterminate that¨ Zhuan An wasn't too mindful of the existence of Xiao Fan, neither were since both had their eyes glued onto that giant body that was now slowly disappearing back into the swamp.

¨Maybe they don't have anyone to take that thing on?¨ He shrugged his shoulder ¨The Rising Fox sect know anything of this creature?¨ Their sect should know something concerning this monster.

¨Never have I ever heard them talk anything of the short, but they for sure know. They wouldn't let a monster that could end their sect this close without taking note of it¨ Most likely she wasn't allowed to know this.

¨Then we best keep our mouths shut before we talk to your father about this¨ Xiao Fan stated.

¨That's a good idea¨ Zhuan Shan agreed that them talking of this meeting to everyone would make a lot of noise, too much noise.

¨Well, like we gain anything from doing so¨

¨Yeah, we have everything we came here for¨ She agreed again and this time also took out the Bit of Wit.

¨You want to take that now?¨ Xiao Fan asked while he was taking out the last Bit of Wit they had gathered; however, as he now took a closer look of it, he noticed something extraordinary.

So extraordinary that his laugh soon voiced out the sentence Zhua An was trying to speak.

¨What are you laughing?¨ She stopped to ask, though he was still laughing, which was making her feel that was he laughing at her? And so she took a look at her own clothes and touched her face, but there was nothing.

When Xiao Fan calmed down, he shook his head once before telling her ¨Hey, want to exchange your Bit of Wit to the Bit of Wit we found last?¨ And then offered what should be the Bit of Wit, though it was wrapped in his hand.

¨Why would I want to exchange them?¨ She asked, visibly confused.

¨You want or not? I'm not forcing you in any way¨ He spoke simply, yet failed to hide his excitement.

She took a long look at him, her head tilting to the side a little when doing so ¨Hmm¨ She let out a sound.

¨It's okay if you don't want to, I understand¨ Though he was speaking indifferently, she was getting the idea that he was almost forcing her to make this trade, but why? Was it a trap? It could be a trap.

'What if this is a trap that he made for me to realise that he can be cruel to me? Will I lose my Bit of Wit? But he seems to be so casual' She was trying her best to get a grasp of what Xiao Fan was thinking, however, these things weren't made for her, she was simple girl, not a scheming fox.

This was truly a fight of dull against the duller.

Xiao Fan still trying his best not to show too much on his face didn't let her think in peace, but pestered her by offering the trade again and again.

In the end, this pushed the girl who was only becoming more confused from thinking to grab onto his hand and then taking the Bit of Wit that should be in his hand.

When in her hands she took a look at this so special Bit of Wit, but there was little difference ¨So what? The cone's scales are open but nothing else? It is cool, but it doesn't explain your actions¨ She didn't see.

¨Oh, that's my fault¨

¨Your fault? What are you meaning?¨ First, he had made this to be something special, yet now he was taking it all back? Was he trying to make her be confused?

¨Hmm, how to explain this¨ He then pondered for a moment ¨Well, here it goes. Do you think there should be something that is like the Bit of Wit but has more oomph to it? He had realised that maybe the Ohin Continent didn't know what he knew.

¨Similar effect, but is more powerful? You mean that thing that is like Bit of Wit, but for a Body Reunion expert?...Part of Wit or whatever it is called¨ At the end there when she was trying to remember the name she pressed her forehead a little.

¨You were somewhat right, but that isn't a Part of Wit¨

¨So I was still right with the more powerful part?¨ Her eyes when saying this shined.
