"Mr. Reid, she's here." Secretary Dee, the lady who went to get Angel said while turning to Angel who was following behind her. But she got scared upon seeing no one.
Then, the words of her boss flashed into her mind, 'Get Miss Lee in here.. now'. She started sweating as she turned to face her boss without the person he wanted. But she got startled upon noticing Angel was already sitting comfortably on the soft chair in front of his boss' table. It was just in time for Michael to turn his chair to face them.
Michael gave Angel a narrow look. He seemed angry. "Miss.." He wanted to say something immediately to Angel but he was disturbed by the presence of his secretary.
In his irritation, he stared at his secretary with a cold face. The usual face whenever he wanted someone to be out from his office in instant.
"I'm sorry Mr. Reid." Secretary Dee's eyes widened and took an immediate bow while stepping backward on her way out. Then, she shook her head with amused face as she closed the door, thinking of something fishy between the two.
"Now, what?" Angel said right away as the door was closed.
'Now what? How dare you to say that now? You said you're going to pay for my hazelnut milk tea thirty times and now you're acting like you don't know a thing!' Michael wanted to rant these words but he can't.
"If you are not going to say anything, then I better not waste my time in here and leave." Angel uttered apathetically as she stood up.
"Leave if you want." Michael with indifferent face, loosened his tie as he rested his back to his chair.
Angel was taken aback. She regretted a little for letting herself be taken away by her feelings without thinking so she seated reluctantly causing the chair to make an unpleasant sound.
"Forget it! What choice do I have? I have no place to go so listening to what you are going to say might be better than nothing." She realized she was not in the position to be stubborn, sensitive and self-centered or else she'll end a beggar on the street, disgracing her father.
"That's good to hear Miss Lee." He responded as he sat straight, putting his hands on the table.
Angel's face displayed a total disbelief. 'Are you telling me that you're happy because I have no choice and no place to go Mr. Reid?' She thought while trying her best to keep her next words and actions in control.
"Can you tell me the reason I was not picked?" She directly asked instead with so much pride in her face as if she wanted to tell him how qualified she was.
"Simply because you have a bad reputation." Michael said while looking straight into her eyes. "You have the talent but you seem to have an attitude problem." He continued to slap Angel the truth. Usually, he hated telling and explaining to people about things. But with Angel, he felt the later. He hated not telling her directly.
"I know. And it's not your business to tell me that." She answered without looking away into his eyes. She was fighting his stare.
"See? That's where you need to grow up Miss Lee." His voice was asserting. Angel was really testing his tolerance.
"Oh! Okay Mr. RIGHT. Wait! Let me clear this. Am I here to be insulted and to be taught with MATURITY LESSONS by you? You seemed like a very perfect fine man!" Her eyebrows furrowed thinking of the idea while in her controlled high pitch voice.
"Well, partly Miss Lee." He gave her a grin. "Before I hire you." He calmly continued.
"You mean to tell me, you're going to hire me as a model?" Angel's face brightened upon hearing a good news.
"No. You are not ready for it, yet." He plainly said.
"What? So what's this? Are you just playing me?" She stood while lightly smashed her hand on his table.
"I am hiring you to become my personal assistant. What do you say?" He remained relax.
Angel got surprised. She was not expecting such offer but that position will be too low for her. On the contrary, she must also be not picky for jobs or else she'll end up unemployed.
"Think wisely Miss Lee. Once you give your answer, I won't ask you again." Michael stood up, put his hands on the table and moved his face to Angel's blank face.
"Take it or take it?" His voice was in deep tone as his lips curved up revealing his beautiful white teeth.
Angel's eyes were blinking in such sudden act and question. But what made her more stunned for a moment was the closeness of their faces and the warm air from his breath that touched her skin.
"Okay! I'll take it!" She rattly shouted as she closed her eyes for a moment. Then, she thought it's a better choice than having none.
"How much will be my salary?" She blurted as she finally get herself back.
"Now, that will be an interesting topic! Shall we sit back first?" Michael went back to his chair and drank a glass of water on his table. His mouth was not used in talking a lot.
Angel calmly seated again.
"Your salary will automatically be deducted to your debt to me Miss Lee!" He sounded so natural like he was just informing her about it.
"What? Are you insane? How come I have a debt in you?" Angel's eyes enlarged with rage as if she had a big question mark on her face.
"Think Miss Lee. Think!" Michael uttered as he remembered how he waited and searched for her in the past two days for him not to personally buy his favorite milk tea. He even decided to join the screening team for the first time just to take the chance of seeing her randomly auditioned. He did not know why but he unexplainably wanted her to get the hazelnut milk tea for him just like how he pictured it.
On the other side, Angel had finally got what he was talking about. It was his milk tea thing!
"Who's acting more immature now Mr. Reid? I will not receive any salary just to compensate your milk tea? Huh! You're unbelievably unreasonable!" She stood up once again and hardly tapped her fist on the table. She had completely lost her temper this time while she saw him doubled from time to time.
"Miss Lee, you said you'll pay for it thirty times. Now the price of that in demand limited serving hazelnut milk tea is enough for your daily salary for a 30-day work." Michael was a bit surprised for himself for taking his time in explaining everything to her. " And it's not my fault that you suggested it!" He was still talking so casually.
"Excuse MR. MILKTEA!" She uttered it slowly and with great emphasis. "You're the reason why I am here! It's because you did not give me your phone number in the first place! And because of it, my perfect world fall apart!" She slightly shouted as she tried to keep her consciousness still in her pale face.
"No Miss Lee. You're here because of your own actions! Don't blame it to me or to others. Blame it to yourself." He said with a lot concentration on his face as he stood up and turned about to take some air while his both hands were on his waist.
"Now, be a woman enough to face it!" He faced back to Angel and was trying to point his finger at her as well.
Then, he became speechless as he found himself standing alone in the office.
