Ying Yue was busy planning the wedding of her cousin and her good friend in her head, knowing both of them would be too busy being just happy, and it would fall on her to take care of the details. Because, to her it was a given that these two would end together. Any other scenario doesn't make sense in this world. She would never let Jiao Long and Jade meet the same fate as her parents. They made a lot of foolish mistakes and they did not have someone like her in their life. She had an ace up her sleeve, that would work, on the off chance that everything else would fail.
She never cared about being the successor of the Huo Empire, she knew she had neither the qualifications nor the talent in taking over such a huge position. Jiao Long on the other hand was born for it. He was the perfect mix of everything that was needed to become a perfect leader. The only reason she hasn't yet given up the rights was her grandfather. Ying Yue did not want to be the person who broke his heart again. But it was just her putting off the things she did not want to confront.
But it was high time she set things right. There were a lot of things that needed to be taken care of. She was intensely planning the things she needed to do, and before long, they reached the Huo ancestral house. There were four check points before they could enter the main house, but no one dared to stop the car knowing that it was the young mater's car.
Being one of the oldest families in the country sometimes had it's advantages, and Ying Yue always thought that this house was one of them. In the middle of a huge forest, the ancestral home was built in the old style of Chinese architecture, in a U shape, hugging a private lake. The beauty and tranquility of the place always made Ying Yue's heart be at peace. She has travelled a lot, but there was nothing that quiet resonated well with her soul as this place.
Jiao Long parked the car in the main house entrance, and got out of the car, giving the key to the security standing near by.
Ying Yue got down from the car, as another one of the servants opened the door for her with a bow. Her nervousness could be easily seen, and Jiao Long wanted to give her a hug, but he held back.
Ying Yue looked at the person who opened the door, and wondered if she knew him before, but knew she would never have remembered even if she had been living in the house for the past seven years. Yet, she was sure Jiao Long would know each and every person who by their names, and would know their personal details as well, he was that good.
" You are finally here." Came a regal voice, that seemed to have lost some of it's vitalness.
Ying Yue looked up to see her proud grandfather making his way down the stairs to meet her with the same nervousness she was feeling. She could feel her heart twisting with pain. She could see that he has grown old a lot in the last few years. He was the one who raised her. Not just in the figurative sense, but literally, he was the one who fed her, who read her stories, taught her how to fight, who took care of her when she was sick. In short, he was her father, mother, teacher, everything. He was also the one who broke her heart and her trust, in the worst way possible. But with one look at him, she knew he was sick and just like that she knew she would forgive him. Seven years was enough of a punishment, in her opinion. And no reason to hold on to her grudge for the people who were already dead.
That was why she did not back away when her grandfather came forward slowly to hug her, as if he was afraid she would reject him. She would have, if she had not noticed the slight tremor in his hands, the red spots on his skin and the overall paleness of his skin.
" I am giving up my rights to the company and signing away my shares to Jie." She said in a stern voice while she was still inside his embrace. He let out a laugh, like he was expecting her to say exactly that.
" Ok." He agreed. " But I have a few conditions as well."
Ying Yue smiled. She knew how her grandfather's mind worked better than anyone else. At the deepest part of him, he was a businessman. He would do nothing that wouldn't profit him in some way.
