Ying Yue carefully placed the test tube carefully inside the bag, and closed the flap.
" I need to rush to the lab with these grandpa. I will be back for the lunch." She smiled and gave her grandpa a kiss on his cheek, without waiting for his reply, rushed out of the room. She looked down at her loose red t shirt tucked into her black skinny jeans and combat boots. She had a few sets of clothes at Yawen's place and she had changed into one of them after a hot shower that morning. The combat boots were probably something she had left there last time she had visited him, she was glad that she did not have to change for what she had in mind. She signalled one of the body guards who were patrolling outside to come near her.
" Get me the keys to Jie's bike." She told him and made her way outside. He nodded and whispered into his earpiece.
She squealed a little when she saw the bright yellow Ducati Panigale V4 being brought towards her.
" The young master asked us to deliver this to you when you asked for his bike Lady Huo. He said he had it modified for you. Hope you like it." One of the guards told her and handed her the keys. Another one was standing nearby with a yellow helmet.
Ying Yue was sure that her smile was maniacal, but she did not care. She shouldn't have doubted her cousin, he always have known her needs better than anyone else. No.. there was one person who knew her almost as much as JianLong, Yawen. She knew them better than they knew themselves too, it was the best and worst aspect of growing up together.
" Thank you guys, I love it. I'll talk to him." She said in a high voice and rushed towards the bike.
She saw that the handles were altered to suit her dominating left hand. She grinned evilly. But she gathered herself and exhaled. She had something important to do, after that, she will take Bumblebee out for a ride. She had already named the bike.
She pulled the straps of the bag containing the blood sample across her shoulder. She raised her leg and straddled the bike with a happy smile. Her entire body shivered in reverence when Bumblebee purred into life when she turned the key on.
She extended out a hand, and her helmet was handed to her. She put it on and adjusted the straps a little.
She took off at high speed.
She reached the labs very soon, much to her disconcertion. She parked the bike in the underground parking space and made her way into the building using the keycard the lead scientist had given her yesterday.
She knew she should be looking into potential investors, as chaos will ensue when Huo cosmetics will be announced as an independent company and their unending supply of investments stop. But she could take care of the company after she had settled her grandpa's issue. The company will have to wait.
She made her way to the top floor, and no one stopped her, after the initial checking. The eight storey building had a rustic appeal and it was the original building her father had started his work in. It was a building he had bought with the money he had earned himself, and maybe he had always known that he would not be the successor of the enterprises and wanted to establish his own place. But he had given up on the Huo cosmetics because of some loophole his father had found in the contract and tried to blackmail him away from YinYue's mother. He had given up everything, because to him, nothing was more important that YingYue's mother. Theirs was the love story everyone still talked about. Her mother was an orphan who had been whip smart, and they literally stumbled into each other one day because of their work. It was love at first sight for her father. But her mother had given him a run for his money. She was skeptical about wealthy old families and would rather not be entangled with them. Ying Yue was never given a full description of the events that led to her parents marriage, and she had never wanted to hear it mainly because of the pain it would cause her grandpa. But when she had stumbled into some of the horrible truths Elder Huo had hidden from her, she could not help but resent him for hiding them from her, which was the reason for her being estranged from him for seven long years.
And it seem somehow a little poetic that she would help her grandfather in the building her father had built.
She walked along the hallway, and stopped in front of a locked door. With a deep breath, she placed her hand on the biometric pad that was on one side of the door. It had been her father's laboratory and no one had used it, despite him being gone for so many years. She had ordered the old equipments and machines be replaced with new ones and was pleasantly surprised to find that most of the machines she had wanted were already there. The white sterile walls and floors instantly made her feel at home.
She inhaled the familiar smell and with a smile, set out to work.
